Now signed Nyal Bell on loan from Gateshead for six months. Briefly been here before.

Bit of an odd one and possibly the earliest loan signing ever! Looks like our squad will be sorted by the end of the week.

Why sign someone on loan in May?

Former Barrow player Paddy Lacey has been sacked by Accrington after being handed a 14 month drugs ban by the FA.

Lacey was crap at this level and very average at Conference North. Some of our fans have a warped view on h because he tried hard and once decked a pitch invader, but the problem was that he couldn't play football. The worst passer I've seen since our previous defensive midfielder, James Owen, and always liable to pick up a red.
What Accrington were doing to sign him in the first place is beyond me. Will be lucky to get a move to Clitheroe or Skem

Stockport's Danny Lloyd signs for Posh.

Not sure on that one.

They will literally sign anyone who's half decent in non-league, won't they?

Yeah, they seem to have gone a bit scatter gun approach now, which didn't seem to be the case a few years back.

Admittedly they signed a few duff ones back then but there seemed a bit of thought behind it. Not so much now.

I'm sure I'm disappointed.

Him leaving has been on the cards for months now though; going three divisions higher, and on a 3-year deal, cannot blame him at all.

Madness. Always looked decent against us, but not exceptional.

Their previous success in this market means they can afford too though, as they've raked it in over the last 10 years or so. Plus, they have a reputation of being a proven stepping stone to greater things, which will encourage the non-leaguers to head there.

It'd be interesting to know the split between those who have gone on and those who haven't. Numerically, there are probably more than haven't, but the amount of money they've made from the successful ones probably paper over them and mean they can afford that risk.

It's all changed from when they got most of their success with the likes of Boyd/CMS/McLean. Lots more money around down here, players on longer contracts, better coverage and everyone's looking around for the same thing etc.

To nobody's great surprise, we have signed Delano Sam-Yorke.

Typical DSY.

Plays well to get a move, then does naff all, ends up being loaned out and starts it all over again.

Imagine the wage that DSY is on at Maidstone. They probably just handed him a blank contract and said fill in the gaps.

I said this when other Stones fans were clamouring to get him back. I don't think it'll work the way they hope.

He'll be on a non contract then, given he'd have slipped, dropped the pen, missed the gaps and drawn on the table instead. The clumsy bastard.

We've also re-signed right back Seth Nana Twumasi. But leery about bringing back people from last year's defence, but he was usually alright.

Probably the best of your defence that I saw last season, pretty tidy and got forward well. Couldn't cross for shit though. Still think you need a few more in if I'm honest. Seen a lot of Stones fans getting excited over your finish to last season and the fact you're signing up the players that helped you to get there (I'd imagine Pigott will sign any day now that he's been released by Cambridge), but a lot of that was based on momentum and an 'against the odds' mentality. Whether that will be the same come August I'm not entirely sure, I think you'll need at least one more centre back, probably a couple of wingers too. Paxman and Lewis is a decent CM combination, but behind that there isn't a huge amount assuming Prestedge doesn't sign (no idea if he will or not?).
