2 brilliant HSV news this week. First The important 2-1 win against Cologne (Lewis Holtby 2 Mins in stoppage time ) and even more important: HSV Idol Uwe Seeler's back operation wasn't due to a malign tumor as he said before (my sweetest error he said after the op).
Although I am actually at the hospital myself this (wrong) cancer news of my greatest football idol was more shocking for me than my own situation. Thank god that it wasn't as serious as predicted by Uwe himself.

Looks like the top 4 race is a foregone conclusion. 7 points seperate Dortmund and Berlin.

At the bottom, Ingolstadt and Darmstadt are pretty much relegated. The race to not end 16th looks exciting though with Mainz, Wolfsburg and Augsburg all on 29 points (before today's games). The league is quite tight further up the table as Köln (6th) are only 8 points clear of the play-off spot which is not a lot this late in the season.

The race to go up is hotting up. Hannover beat Union 2-0 in the big game which puts the hosts just a point behind the visitors of the day along with Stuttgart (who drew 3-3 at home to Dresden) and Braunschweig (1-0 win at Lautern). 2 of these 4 will go up directly. Hopefully whoever finishes 3rd will give it their best shot.

At the bottom, St Pauli lost the big game at Aue 0-1 and currently occupy the play-off spot. 1860 won at Düsseldorf and are now 6 points clear. Great stuff!

Last week: Hoffenheim vs Bayern 1-0 (1st leg: 1-1) . So they came with some hope to "Fortress Volkspark" (HSV unbeaten for 9 matches here) and the result:
HSV vs Hoffenheim 2-1 (1st leg: 2-2)

HSV got 4 out of 6 points from high flyers Hoffenheim. And with Mainz losing for the 5th time (and maybe Augsburg today, too) they already have 4 points gap from #16. Next week the Duel against our northern friends from Werder Bremen. Unfortunately Papadopoulos is now out too after his yellow card, Ekdal and Djourou too (ok, Djourou is no big loss actually). A draw at Bremen would be great especially because Werder is actually on a great run.

Yeh, Darmstadt choking that lead is the final nail for them. Ingolstadt however have put together a good run at a great time. Augsburg and Mainz must be scared - both are in shocking form. Hamburg v Bremen will be a good contest, although with Werder being the hosts I would fancy them to win considering their recent run. The race for 5th and 6th looks like it's going to go right to the wire, though if I had to pick now I would say it's going to be Gladbach and Koln just edging out Freiburg.

Got to credit Bayern too, they've generally been nowhere near as good as they were under Pep this season, but in recent weeks especially they have picked up a lot. Their matches v Madrid will be interesting.

I am enjoying very much Leipzig's season despite some recent drops and the distancing from Bayern on the table. Good to see the boy Selke receiving more space in the team (didn't see him being put to play this much in the beginning to mid-season, don't know why, was he injured or just personal option of the coach?). I followed some Uxx competions from german national team since around 2015 and Selke always had incontestable huge performances.

Wolfsburg vs Ingolstadt aka Volkswagen vs. Audi 3-0 (or Lower Saxony vs Bavaria 3-0

). Mario Gomez again with a goal. Seems he scores in nearly every match under Andries Jonker. And with his goal against Ingolstadt he has now scored against every actual Bundesliga Club

Open house at Hoffenheim vs Gladbach with 8 Goals (5-3), RB Leipzig with no problems against Freiburg (4-0) and Mainz wins for the first time after 5 consecutive losses with 1-0 against Hertha BSC. Augsburg wins 2-1 against FC Cologne. This means that both, Mainz and Augsburg now have 32 points. So my HSV (33 points) needs tomorrow a good result too against Rival Werder Bremen. The most played match in the Bundesliga is hopefully a cracker tomorrow. A draw would be fine.

Even tighter in the 2.Bundesliga (top and bottom here).
Today was the traditional Lower Saxonian match between rivals Hannover 96 and Eintracht Braunschweig at the Niedersachsenstadion (or as it is called nowadays HDI Arena). Full house of course and 96 won for the first time in 19 years with 1-0 and is now top of the league with 56 points (Braunschweig now 3rd with 54). Stuttgart with 1 game less is 2nd with 54 and could move to 1st with a win at Arminia Bielefeld on Monday. Union Berlin is 4th with 51 and has to play at home against 13th Kaiserslautern.

At the bottom, huge win for St Pauli (1-0 against Würzburger) which makes them 14th, their highest league position since late September! Karlsruhe lost again and relegation is only a matter of time now (10 points from the play-off spot with 5 games to go). As said above, Bielefeld travel to Stuttgart this evening while Aue lost at Nürnberg.
One side that has emerged as another contender is Kaiserslautern. They've been mid-table most of the season but one win in 8 means that they find themselves 15th which is a very dangerous position. Don't want them to go down to the 3rd division. Superb stadium and massive fanbase. Always take a lot on away games as well.

Eisern Union. Jens Keller is doing a marvellous job there. One of very few clubs of the former German "Democratic" Republic that I really like and I would be nice to see them in the top flight (but not at the expense of Braunschweig. It's my Alma mater there and I have a special relationship to this old city)

Great to see St.Pauli out of the relegation places. Long months both Hamburg clubs where botton of their respective leagues. Not a good sign for Germany's 2nd city. But now both are out of it and will stay out for the rest of the season (i've never lost faith for both)

This would be disaster for the Pfalz. Kaiserslautern is an institution. Really huge fan base and the club of Fritz Walter can't play in the third league.

All the posts after April 17th are lost because a stupid "former staff member" had made his low-life "exciting" yesterday by deleting and merging threads so that a backup had to be installed.
Unfortunately it was from April17th and not actual. Very disappointing because we had some good posts here (and at last some discussion ). Don't know why this guy had done this shit but I wished he could do the same with the results of the HSV in the last 2 weeks....wipe them away

What an utter shite between HSV and Mainz. 0-0 and HSV playing again like amateurs. Don't know what's going on since the lost Nord-Derby against Werder. They are completely out of form at the worst possible time. They isolated themselves in a training camp for a few days to get some rest (which they can't have in a "media city" like Hamburg (only Munich with its boulevard papers is comparable in Germany). But nothing comes around from this. And to shave the head like Papadopoulos did to look more martial is only ridiculous.
The 54.000 who come no matter how bad they perform deserve better than this.

So, still #16 and with an away game at Schalke (lost at Freiburg) and a home match against Wolfsburg (won convincingly in Frankfurt) they are more and more in danger to play "another 2 matches" at the end of the season. Damn!!!

Tomorrow is like good ol' times. All 9 Bundesliga Matches are beginning at the traditional time : 3:30 pm, no evening matches, no sunday matches....love it!!!!

HSV at Schalke. 1 point would be great together with a loss of Mainz in the match against Frankfurt. And it would be great if Wolfsburg wins against Gladbach (sorry for that) because next week HSV has to play against Wolfsburg at home. And when Wolfsburg is already secure, then they'll (maybe) don't give 100% anymore

I don't want a third relegation playoff in 4 years!

A friend of mine boasted about being at the game. Checked out the score and the match stats which gave me a chuckle. His only game of the season and it's the sole goalless draw at HSV. :ffs:

At least Hamburg don't look like going down. It'll probably end in them in the play-off position AGAIN. No idea who it might be against. Still very tight at the top of the Buli Zwei but my money is on a Hannover/Hamburg play-off. If that happens, I sincerely with Hannover wins it. Hamburg simply has to go down. The club is awfully ran and a couple of years in the 2nd tier will do them a world of good.

Maybe Lasogga's 1-1 in the 92nd minute could be the Goal of the season for HSV. Without it, #16 it would be and now we have still the chance to avoid the Relegation Playoff match against the 3rd of the 2nd Bundesliga....with a win against bloody Wolfsburg. Would be great to put Wolfsburg on #16 in the last match and a playoff match against a fellow Lower Saxonian club (Hannover or Braunschweig).

oh ffs, Braunschweig. 0-6 at Bielefeld. Unbelievable. Hannover on the other side wins the top match against Stuttgart 1-0. Both now at 66 points. Braunschweig at 63 and they have a 6 goals worse goal difference. This would mean a Relegation playoff match against.....Wolfsburg (yeah, I know...)

Hamburg vs Braunschweig would be brilliant. I'd watch that.
I shouldn't brag too much as my very own 1860 lost at home to Bochum which means they'll probably be playing the play-off vs whoever finishes 3rd in the 3rd tier. It should be Regensburg. SCHEISSE!
