So yeah, E3 is happening. Like, the first conference is already 15 mins or so in. We usually seem to have a thread for it, so I thought I'd make one.

EA going at the moment. Nothing exciting so far... some new BF1 maps, Madden is getting a story mode and now they're doing some Ultimate Team BS. Oh well. Battlefront 2 is coming later... at least we've got that going for us.

Evil Within 2 leaked. One of the few people who really enjoyed the first one, so hopefully it's more of the same with a few additions and tweeks to the gameplay. Actually, I think they could massively improve the stealth sections...those were kinda shitty in the original game.

EA one was a waste of time tbh

MS later. Hopefully it has more to it than just wanking over the scorpio and showing something they show every year like Forza. Need actual new games man

Yeah EA was nothing special. Battlefront 2 looks much improved though. Plus that prison escape coop game actually looked really good, and it looks like Need For Speed is back on form.

EA was better than their normal showing, would have been good had they showed anything other than a teaser for Anthem. But at least we will see it in the Microsoft conference today.

Rumours online reckon that Anthem will be EAs attempt at copying Destiny

Which considering Destiny is a bag of wank...yeahhhh

Absolutely any chance of an elder scrolls game? That will make me take the plunge I think.

I wouldn't complain if Anthem was a copy of Destiny. Destiny got a lot of hate for advertising itself as something it wasn't, but the game (after improvements in expansions) was very good. Have not played much of it recently, but cannot wait for Destiny 2 to launch later this year building on the knowledge of the first game, and excited for what they show in the PlayStation conference on Monday.

The fear is that the last console game like Destiny to launch was The Division, which was even more hyped, and failed even more spectacularly.

On the topic of Elder Scrolls. Is Elder Scrolls Online any good? Don't know anyone who plays it, but obviously it's a massive franchise and could be a great world to play in if done correctly.

Well, Microsofts was... safe. In that it was fine and had a big focus on just showing us the games (which is all we ever really want from E3, fuck the other stuff!) but I don't think there was a single "oh wow" moment... no big announcements of new games... like, Forza was a no brainer because they announce a new one basically every year and they were bound to do a new one to show off The Xbox One X)... it was simply a case of showing off games that we already knew existed. Anthem (yeah, very Destiny), Assassins Creed Origins, Crackdown 3, Sea of Theives, Cuphead, State of Decay 2... yeah, it basically all looked great, but lacked that impact of showing us something new and/or surprising.

Also, I thought the Xbox One was a shit name, so, in almost an answer to my question of whether it's the worst console name ever, they go and bring a new challenger to the table to blow it out of the water. Really Microsoft? Xbox One X. Bloody hell.

Not a single surprise from Bethesda as the only 2 new games they showed already leaked

Poor from Microsoft. The new Xbox doesn't seem that much more powerful than the previous ones, and the £450 pricepoint is huge. Makes the Switch's £280 price look amazing in comparison considering it is also portable.

Good move to allow compatability of controllers, as that'll save gamers a lot of cash, but from a marketing point of view it makes it harder to sell it as a 'new' console, especially as the name is the same.

I read a news recently that Bethesda won't publish an Elder Scrolls 6 before 2020/2022. That's bloody awful. I've played all Elder Scrolls (Offline) Titles and Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is still my favourite RPG (together with the Witcher 3) but I detest the Online RPG of the Elder Scrolls Franchise (Morrowind just got an online version recently...not for me, I need to play RPG offline ;) )

Any news about Red Dead Redemption 2 at the E3?` Played the first part on my old PS3 excessively and can't wait to play the 2nd part on PS4. Unfortunately Rockstar Games just recently said that they won't publish it before Spring 2018 (normally it should be published in Fall 2017).

You're joking right? Solid 4K at 60 fps is a large jump from the originals that struggled with 1080p 30 fps at times. You also have to remember that this console is aimed at the people who crave every pixel, it's not aimed for the mass-market. Though at least has a reasonable price that could get some people to put up the extra cash.

As for the conference, I agree with the earlier comments. Solid, but not spectacular. Showed a large range of games but without many large shocks. Not many 'must buy' titles but decent. I think Microsoft know that as they are behind on the exclusives they need to make sure their console is the best for the non-exclusives.

I can just about be happy with the name if they intentionally called it the Xbox One X as the first letter of each syllable spells out XBOX. Other than that, Scorpio was a much better name.

Delighted PUBATTLEGROUNDS is coming to Xbox.

Black Desert Online too.

Scorpio Console is a beast and looks slick. Will pick it up Day one. Was a decent conference. Happy we got release dates for Cuphead and Crackdown. Crackdown MP will be shown off throughout the week. Ashen looked pretty interesting. Metro Exodus and Anthem looked stellar to be fair and Ori 2 looked amazing. Glad State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves have been pushed to Spring 2018. It's important to have games spread out of the year rather than squeezed in every Oct/Nov/Dec.

Overall I would like to have seen more new IP but Phil Spencer doesn't like showing stuff that's 3 or 4 years away (Leave that to Sony)

Likely stuff was held back for Gamescom in August and Tokyo Game Show later in the year..

The new Xbox doesn't seem that much more powerful than the previous ones

Xbox One = 1.4 teraflops
Xbox One X = 6.0 teraflops

is a significant leap for a mid-gen refresh

Don't let the name fool you, the Xbox One S was the mid gen refresh, this should be a new gen console.

I think the idea is that it's pretty clear that console generations are dead now. There probably won't be a Playstation 5 or an Xbox (I dunno... Two?) released at least any time in the near future... upgraded versions of the One and PS4 every 5 years or so seems to be the general idea now. Which is cool really... it means that unless you have the money and fancy a bit of an upgrade, you won't ever need to shell out on a new console to play the latest games and backwards compatibility issues will no longer exist unless you just fancy an upgrade... think of it more like getting a new graphics card or whatever for your PC than a new games console.

I guess SUPER long term the original Xbox one and PS4 will be phased out... like, if we're talking 4 or 5 iterations ahead of the first gen Xbox One, developers can't be expected to be held back by making sure that these games still play on these older versions. Sort of like how PC games can come out and you'll not be able to run it on older PC's... so yeah, I suppose you will have to upgrade at some point if you want to keep up to date with gaming... but at least now there's a lot more freedom as to when exactly that is, so long as you're happy to stick with older models when knowing that better ones are out there.

It is my honour to announce that Ni No Kuni 2 will be released November 10th, 2017.

I genuinely did not expect it out that soon, great news. R.I.P Mr Drippy.

Jamiroquai, K-Pop, Bebe Rexha and a Panda is currently happening during a Ubisoft press conference. Wild.

"Shadow of the Colossus" will come for the PS4. Loved it when it came for PS2 and even played it again when they made it in HD for PS3.

Happy with that Sony one... SOTC is the only announcement that really has me excited from this E3. Fucking loved it back in the day, but actually found the HD version felt a bit dated. Dying to play it remastered though! Hopefully it'll be more than just a new coat of paint... perhaps make the travel between Colossus (Colossi?) less of a drag... they were the only real weak point of the game, and after Breath of the Wild, they'll seem even worse by comparison.

But other cool stuff, too... God of War still looks fantastic, and Spiderman, even if it's borrowed a lot from the Batman games by the looks of things, still looks really fucking good.

Nintendo had a good E3. Mario Odyssey, a 'core Pokemon' game, and Metroid Prime 4 are going to shift a bucketload of consoles over the next couple of years.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 looked incredible from the UbiSoft conference, and there's rumours it's going to be a Switch timed exclusive, which will be massive for Nintendo.
