Sutton have lost just one regular first teamer this summer, Roarie Decon has joined Dundee.
Who have you sadly seen leave your club?

Our squad last year was pretty awful and Keates has rightly scrapped almost the entire team.

That said I was sorry to see Martin Riley go as he's a very good defender (very happy with the replacements brought in though) and after what he went through I'd like to see Jordan White do well, he was starting to show signs of being the goal scorer we'd all hoped for. Our loss could be Barrows gain there

Ours that were released weren't regular first team players, so not too disappointed.

Still waiting to hear back on Danny Kedwell, Sam Deering and Aaron McLean. Would be disappointed of any of them left, but we have players who can step up and are able to sign replacements, so may not be too big a loss. Deering is rumoured to be joining Bill n Ricky.

Everyone :conf:

By which I mean Halls, Norburn, McCombe, Holroyd, James and Byrne all rejected contracts, Flinders, Sampson, Cowan and Sutherland were released, Browne, Summerfield, Whitehead and Dudley's loans ended

Our squad was fairly average last year, with one notable exception, Danny Rowe (who sadly left in January and put paid to any hopes of the play-offs). I would put the remainder into either difficult to replace, replaceable or can definitely do better.

Difficult to replace:
Ollie Norburn (Tranmere) - decent player with a good strike on him, but can go missing in matches

Replaceable:
Kingsley James (Chester) - decent player, but rumoured to be on our largest salary, and probably not justifying it
Chris Holroyd (Wrexham) - good footballer, skilful and quick, but not a natural finisher
Andy Halls (Chester) - weakest player in our starting XI for the last couple of seasons, and a very limited footballer, but always worked hard for the team and reasonably solid from a defensive perspective

Can definitely do better:
John McCombe (Chester) - astonished he was offered another deal - legs have gone, no ability on the ball and very slow - he had become a liability towards the end of the season
Neill Byrne (Gateshead) - lot of Macc fans liked him (unlike James and Halls), but personally I thought he was never good enough and saved often by playing alongside Pilkington
Everyone else released would also go into this category - I agreed with JA

The only two we were sad to lose were Tom Mills and Alex Flisher, and even that's just because they were long-serving players who've been around since the bad days. Good players but not quite up to Conference standard. Wish them both luck in their new homes :)

Other than loanees who returned to their parent clubs, our only departure is Anthony Straker who left to pursue part time football after getting his HGV licence. Everyone else has extended their contracts for next season.

Brendan Moore - GK - Gone to Rochdale. A very good shot stopper with incredible reactions but strangely let down by his basic handling and distribution abilities. I would have liked him to stay but think we can replace him with a more reliable keeper (Michael Poke linked) just without the wonder saves.

Dan Sparkes - Left Winger - Signed for Dagenham. Was very disappointed to see him go as he's a top quality player, very reliable and a great attitude.

Aman Verma - midfield but played everywhere - was a useful squad player without ever nailing down a position. He'll get a move closer to home and it's not weakened our first XI.

Courtney Richards - central midfield - divides opinion. Good athlete, excellent character and attitude, but a very unskilled footballer, even for non-league standards. Not sure where he'll end up given how much he divides opinion.

Everyone else we either released or didn't offer a contract for financial reasons. Brett Williams the biggest name here, along with Lathaniel Rowe-Turner (signed for Chester), Shaun Harrad and Giancarlo Gallifuoco.

Overall I think we did well as Luke Young, Sean McGinty and Ruairi Keating did re-sign from the list of the 7 key out of contract players. We'd never replace Young, whilst McGinty and Keating are promising players. We lost 2 first team players and 2 very replaceable ones. Sign a solid goalkeeper this summer and we'll have done as well as we could have expected.

Two we might miss Jordan Maguire-Drew has gone back to Brighton and Paul Benson released, but we seemed to have now covered that with our attacking signings.

We released a lot of kids mainly and a couple of fringe players who were unlikely to step up.

The biggest losses are winger Nathan Thomas who went to Sheff Utd and 'keeper Trevor Carson who signed for Motherwell. Neither do I begrudge a move to, especially Carson who left for the SPL on less money than he was on here but was worried about retaining his N.Ireland place, which is understandable. He'd been loyal despite being way better than L2 standard. He could've done better than Motherwell I feel but the SPL is a step up from the Conference so there you have it. Good luck to him. Scott Loach has a huge void to fill.

Was disappointed Lewis Alessandra moved on to Notts County, thought he might've stayed to help us back up but not to be, considering he was very hot and cold last year. He did not always turn up. I'd expect further departures, Brad Walker may be off to LIncoln or Wigan (no great loss), Amond is obviously signing for another Conference team and Rhys Oates still hasn't signed a new deal. He'd be a handful down here with his work rate and determination but again, one I'm not overly fussed on. Good impact sub though.

You could argue that the squad is a bit weaker than last season, but I'm not too sure. The midfield looks better although still needs one or two more bodies. Forwards about the same but defence and keeper you couldn't say have been strengthened but I'm sure Harrison will address that.

We also lost our fraud of a chairman which is a big plus. So off the field, we're starting to look in better shape. New sponsors for the ground, too. As long as we remain stable off the pitch we might have a good season.

We lost Danny Livesey - he was released because we didn't want to offer him two years on his current wages, so he's gone to Salford - and Shaun Beeley, who I thought was as good as any right-back at this level (he'll go to Fylde or Salford too).
Also, Jordan Williams was sold to Rochdale, and it looks increasingly likely Nick Anderton is going to follow him to League One (or higher) after we turned down a bid of around £100,000.

The others, Turnbull and Hannah, I really wasn't arsed about. I do feel we'll struggle to bring in players as good as those above though.

What was he like for you? Started off as Jamie Day's little lapdog. Followed him here from Woking and then to Forest Green. He was woeful here.

To be fair he didn't have a clear run in the team due to injuries. Never looked 100% comfortable at left back

Michael Ihiekwe. Improved vastly under Micky Mellon's guidance, left for Rotherham. He does need replacing as a lack of pace at the back leaves us vulnerable.

Lois Maynard. Predominantly midfielder, but could fill in at full-back or central defence, left for Salford. Oliver Norburn, his replacement may be a better midfielder, but not as versatile, that always being an asset when you're limited to 5 subs.

Cole Stockton. Came back for the last 6 months of his contract and provided evidence that there was a decent striker in there somewhere. Now moved to Hearts. Can't help feeling that it was highly unlikely he'd stay and the manager ought to have worked on building the Cook-Norwood partnership, instead of sidelining Cook. With Darren Stephenson also gone and none of the youngsters deemed worthy of deals, we're now a little thin upfront.

Of those not offered deals, Adam Mekki has shipped up at Bromley and Toli Omatola joins Altrincham. Iain Turner the vetran keeper looked decent enough in the rare outings he had, but hard to comment on the rest who've left, with little first team experience.

Still waiting on 3 to accept their contract offers and the fact they haven't to date suggests will be moving on.

Yeah, he didn't look great here. He had to play while Day was in charge though.

To be fair to Pilling, he's been away with wales at the Toulon tournament.

I'm sure we've been over this before, but Anderton is way too good for this league. When you had him on loan, he was a kid recovering from a horrible broken leg. He took a bit to get going again with us, but he's been brilliant for over a year now.
My vote for our player of the season, and one of our biggest attacking threats despite being a full-back.
You just had him at the wrong time.

Not just his loan spell, but I also thought he was poor at the Rec in February and ended up getting sent off as a result of struggling to cope with our wingers. From what i've seen of him I really don't think he would get into our team.

I didn't go to that game, but I listened to it, and I remember he got booked right at the start of the game, which never helps a defender. I can assure you, he's much better than what you've seen of him. Hence why there's league clubs competing to sign him up, and why he plays every minute of every game (bar those he's suspended for...). And he's only just 21 now, as well.

Danny Lloyd - 29 goal and 19 assist left winger left to sign for Peterborough. Pretty impossible to replace that. Darren Stephenson brought in from Tranmere as a 'like for like' replacement. Had a very fruitful season for Chorley in 15/16 but has had a bid injury last season which may have affected his progress. Not sure how he got on at Fylde last season on loan.

Lewis Montrose - Easily the best CM in Conf North last year will take some replacing. Signed a new contract in March this year but Fylde came along and bought him from us by triggering a buy-out clause in his contract. We brought in Harry Winter last season who is a holding midfielder, but would have expected Winter to play alongside Montrose, so an additional midfield general is required.

Rest of the squad were either retained or released.

Bedsente Gomis a regular for Sutton for the past two seasons, is rumoured to be joining Barrow.. Not the most gifted of players but always gave 100%. He will be missed.

Is there any chance he can just be that stopper who can sit in front of the defence? That's what we've been desperate for forever.
