Without wanting to turn into mankytoes with all my anecdotes, I do actually have one for that Saltire.

We'll go for the style of build-up paragraph to give some background and then a short dialogical exchange for this one.

So, I was at a former housemate from uni's wedding a couple of weeks ago, and unsurprisingly there were several old friends I hadn't seen for a while. One of such was another former housemate, really nice guy, but could be a bit funny with words. About a week after, my girlfriend turned to me on the sofa and said.

Her - I have heard a word I don't know the last week.
Me - Oh?
Yeah.
When?
The last weekend.
At the wedding?
Yeah.
What do you think it meant?
I don't really know.
Who were you talking to?
The boy was sitting next to you.
Tom?
Who Tom?
The guy who was sitting next to me.
Yeah.
What were you talking about?
He was talking me when he was in Mexico and he didn't understand nothing.
Tom doesn't know Spanish so I'm not surprised.
He said he was waiting to get in a bus and the people they start to shouting him in Spanish and he was confuse but not say confuse.
Did Tom say he was discombobulated?
Yes!
Who says discombobulated to a foreigner?
Tim?

My lecturer running out of the room after 10 minutes shouting "my house is flooding." Strictly for the comedy, not because I'm glad the poor bloke's house is flooding or anything!

Going home for a few weeks, train tomorrow

standard fare all day tomorrow : 52 quid

First Class fare at 5pm : 300 quid

First class fare at 7pm which I managed to snatch up : 60 quid

Free food and wifi in first class. Unbelievable Jeff.
Now train is by far my favourite means of long distance transportation. I'd much rather spend more hours in a train than go to the airport (then again I have a pacemaker so that doesn't help). However, I don't get the deal with first and second class. I used to take trains in Germany a lot and I just couldn't work out the advantages of first class. We have wifi in economy, we have the same food at the same prices and we also have more than enough space for our legs.
I just don't get it...

First class on trains should be ABOLISHED POST-HASTE. Infuriating when you come across a near empty 1st class carriage (inhabited by only one or two smug twats) on an otherwise packed train.

(apologies for being an abominable tropical fruit and posting a negative thing in the like thread)

If you keep taking pictures like that the rest of the first class passengers are going to clock on to the fact that this isn't a regular occurrence for you.

Show some decorum, man!

Update 19:48 hours zulu

I am alone. Apparently no one else wants to go to Manchester Piccadilly.

Catering bloke is plying me with free lemonade and bacon rolls. Intentions suspicious.

over and out

The manly essences you get in some beers. Last night's Holts tasted of fine aggregates and unwashed towels in the gents. I've had good "wet dog" pints and bad "wet dog" pints. And how taste of TCP is considered a quality in whiskies like Laphroaig and Ardbeg.

Nonsense, really?

Do you reckon you know more about the project than the aerospace engineers and physicists who run it?

NASA Eagleworks scientist Harold White:

The EM Drive’s thrust was due to the Quantum Vacuum (the quantum state with the lowest possible energy) behaving like propellant ions behave in a MagnetoHydroDynamics drive (a method electrifying propellant and then directing it with magnetic fields to push a spacecraft in the opposite direction) for spacecraft propulsion. The NASASpaceflight.com group has given consideration to whether the experimental measurements of thrust force were the result of an artifact. Despite considerable effort within the NASASpaceflight.com forum to dismiss the reported thrust as an artifact, the EM Drive results have yet to be falsified. After consistent reports of thrust measurements from EM Drive experiments in the US, UK, and China – at thrust levels several thousand times in excess of a photon rocket, and now under hard vacuum conditions – the question of where the thrust is coming from deserves serious inquiry.

I didn't say faster than light travel wasn't possible if it could be somehow run on something like tachyons which cannot travel UNDER the speed of light; it just doesn't sound a practical way of getting round the universe if they are looking at travelling on geodesics as the distances are far too great and the effects of special relativity will be significant. They will have to find a way of making space fold upon itself (either somehow creating wormholes or fields that can locally bend points in space to extremes) so that that itself is doing the work instead of trying to travel along it.

Rhubarb. Thankfully, it's one of the few veg we've managed to grow without killing. We have shed loads of the stuff in our garden and I love it!

Pah, I don't even bother digging it up. I just eat it while it's still in the ground. The leaves, everything.
