Boring? I love watching Mayweather, technical boxing at its finest

It's fantastic to watch Mayweather individually but as a contest it doesn't make for fantastic memorable fights.

Should have happened five years ago, this was always going to be a let down.

116-112.

Manny not on roids isn't anything special.

Tonight proved that versus Hatton & Cotto he was juicing.

Anyone see the bit (think it was the 4th) when Manny was throwing aimless punches into Mayweather's elbows and after every burst Floyd just looked at home and was like "nope"

Shit was funny

Cotto should have beaten him to be fair.

Floyd just outclassed him in every aspect, when he hung back and counter-punched he was too quick and he just bullied him when he boxed on the front foot and controlled the ring. Pacquiao looked like someone who wasn't comfortable, there was no recklessness like in his prime, I think that Marquez KO really affected him and Mayweather's right hand definitely hurt him a few times. 5 years ago, Mayweather would've won. Now it was a total mismatch.

An utterly ridiculous fighter.

Anyone calling it boring needs to aim their focus on Manny. He didn't want it, knew he wasn't in Mayweather's class from the first minute onwards.

It's events like this that expose how self-entitled and herd-like the general public can be at times. I've heard people claim it was 'boring', that Mayweather is a 'pussy' and 'boxing is dead'. It's funny to me how the casual viewer becomes an expert in pugilism before and during a big fight but cries when it doesn't turn into a drunken slugfest.

I can't understand how people paid money to watch this without looking at how often Mayweather fights go the distance, and then got upset.

The casual fan is probably annoyed because they didn't see blood, thunder and knockdowns every round etc.

The only disappointing part of the fight for me was on Manny's part, notably his simple lack of aggression right from the off. Mayweather dominated the first 3 rounds in a way that surprised me, I expected Manny to win maybe 3 of the first 4 rounds. A few years back you'd think how on earth can Pac be in a fight with Mayweather and throw less punches, it's extraordinary. He just couldn't find range and move his feet quickly enough to move in with his trademark shots. He never really opened up and got to the stage where he was willing to take one to land one and he certainly didn't look like he went down all guns blazing, which is pretty unforgivable. And what was that hug before the last round all about? Pretty much sums up this "rivalry", Manny showing him far too much respect, something Maidana certainly didn't do. His age and style down the years has caught up with him as to win this fight he needed Maidana 1 levels of pure, all out aggression. Manny was just too small, this will be his last fight at 147.

Floyd did what he always does, and it's amazing to watch him at work. He's a genius and he performed on the big stage and Manny didn't.

Manny was so disappointing to watch. Where was the fire? He showed very little aggression and didn't throw anywhere near enough combos. As someone already stated, he was far too respectful. He let Mayweather dictate the biggest fight of his life. Floyd did what he had to do. Manny had no answers.

McGregor v Aldo is the one to watch.

Watching the fight tells you that there wasn't a mistake.

I think everybody that is capable of scoring a bout had Mayweather ahead by atleast 4.

Just a fuck up with the colours. Floyds name is clearly written above the positive scorecards.

Yep it's wrong in terms of the colours but the most worrying thing about that scorecard is the handwriting, which appears to be that of an 8 year old. And the fact they have misspelled 'welterweight' at the top. Incredible stuff considering the magnitude of this fight.

Watched the fight back a couple of times, I don't get how people think Pacquiao won the fight. I had Mayweather up by at least 4 rounds. It may not have been the prettiest fight, but technically it was as good as you're going to get. You can't beat what you can't hit and Pacquiao could do nothing but hit Mayweather in the elbows. You're not going to win a fight doing that.

I hope Floyd takes on Khan next, Rammadan finishes mid July this year from what I understand so September may not be out of the question. I'd expect Mayweather to retire undefeated but I think a fight against Khan, with his speed, reach, height and jab would cause him a fair few problems.

You went back and watched it again? More than once? Masochism mate.

I had it 116-113 for Mayweather.

Disappointed for Manny as I really wanted him to take the zero.

Credit to Floyd though, he pretty much kept Manny at bay for the entire fight and dominated with the jab for a number of rounds.

There's no need to watch it more than once for me, Floyd clearly won at least 8 of the rounds.

I do think the Khan fight is a possibility, would generate huge figures and Floyd does like the support generated by the English fans when they travel. Khan with his new size at 147 has looked good, his quick hands and feet would cause new problems for Mayweather. That said, after a few rounds when he has him sussed I see Mayweather winning by KO.

Would many English fans travel though? He's hardly a favourite over here is he...

Does anyone think Floyd would come to the UK for his final fight? He's always said he wants to. It would be massive.

Do we actually think that he is going to retire after his next fight? Yeah he's said it, but if he wins that then he's one away from beating Rocky Marcianos record, so why stop when he's equalled it?
Lack of names to fight against? Or he probably just doesn't give a shit.

He's retired a couple of times in the past and came back. I'm not convinced he won't do the same again this time.

He might wait a few months to build up the hype but he'll be back.

I do think he will go to 50 and 0. Are there any huge fights left for Mayweather?

I would love to see him fight Khan though...

One thing is for sure, there's nobody out there who can create the PPV money of a Pac. Garcia would need a fair few fights at 147 first to prove himself worthy, don't see that one.

Mayweather will never get into the ring with GGG, mainly because he doesn't have a death wish. He's actually fighting next weekend, and if Cotto deals with Daniel Geale then they should meet for what you have to say would be lineal crown. Although I have seen Canelo mentioned for Cotto, and even a second meeting with Mayweather and that might be why he is talking about relinquishing belts. Wouldn't be a bad one, first fight was pretty good. Middleweight division could well be the main place for superfights over the next few years.

Froch stripped of his WBA belt. I expect him to retire in the coming weeks now.
