Guardiola's suicide football at it's best. 1-0 was a fine result, but it's all over now.

Bayern fell to bits and chased things after the first goal, Barca took advantage and played some great football. Neymar should have been off though, I'm sure the game would have ended much differently had the ref made the correct decision there.

Footballers are over paid at times but Messi really does earn what he is paid week in week out!

Somebody like Joey Barton getting £80k/week definitely is ludicrous but Messi is worth every Euro he earns.

That Bayern collapse though. I found Pep's approach really odd, making comments along the line of "if we don't score, we're fooked" a day before the game with injuries to Robben and Ribery who're usually the dudes giving the penetration to attacks.

Now it'll take a true "Hollywood FC" performance to get to the final, n that ain't happening against this Barca side for shii. :fart:

It'd be nice too see Juve get to the finals, but one goal is hardly a cushion against Real at the Bernabeu.

A Real Barca final then, which'll be a bunch of grown men doing rolly polys. Really excited. :ohn:

Honestly there isn't even a Messi/Ronaldo argument anymore. Different class.

Greatest player to grace the sport.

Happy with that, always disliked Guardiola. His possession obsessed Bayern is a far cry from Jupp Heyckes machine, and after getting smashed by Real and now Barca he must be under pressure now?

He's won 2 CL's and is rightly lauded for it but I just don't get him at all. For me, even when he was at Barca it was somewhat hard to judge how good he was because he had some of the best players ever all peaking at the same time, with most of them forming that amazing Spanish side that won everything for 4 years. He's won back to back German leagues yes but I'm not counting that as any sort of great accomplishment seeing as it is now effectively a 1 team league after the demise of Dortmund. He had a tough task to live up to in taking over a treble winning side, but they just aren't anywhere near as good as under Heynckes.

His tactics in last years SF were even more suicidal, playing a high line against a counter attack side like Real is the last thing you do. That shocked me, I couldn't believe the naivety of the man. Now he wants to go toe-to-toe football with Barca without 3 or 4 of his best players, going man to man and leaving your defence to fend for themselves against the best front 3 in the world is the last thing you do at the Nou Camp. How does he of all people not know these things? Ok, so it was 0-0 until the Messi show but they could have easily been 3-0 down in 15 minutes on another night. And don't get me started on him trying to be all hipster and edgy by playing one of the greatest full backs ever in a midfield role.

So much to say about the game tonight but OMG Messi. He's just proven that he can just piss all over any player that's in front of him when he's in the mood.

This Barcelona side is infinitely more enjoyable to watch than Guardiola's. Suarez was the missing link, he makes everyone around him better, including Messi. Somehow.

I feel dirty for enjoying them, but I can't help but enjoy Messi, Suarez and Neymar. More tenacious, better on the counter attack and still great in possession. They are more like Jupp Heynckes' Bayern than the current Bayern side are two years removed.

Bayern Munich absolutely capitulated in the last 15 minutes or so, they've pretty much thrown this away now. They managed to overturn a big deficit against Porto but lets be honest, this Barcelona side is on a completely different level. Throwing all men forward to try and get a goal was absolute suicide, both of Messi's goals were pure class, the second one will be shown up there with his best for years to come.

I thought Bayern were doing ok all things considered until they conceded that first goal and collapsed. They just couldn't hurt Barca on the break due to the absence of their two most dangerous wingers & Alaba, it was always gonna be a huge task. The way they collapsed after the first was inexplicable though, should have just shut up shop and started thinking about the second leg instead of pushing forward too much.

This Barca is strange, there's nothing special about the way they're set up but their individuals are just so good that it's difficult to imagine them going a game without scoring at least twice. Messi, Neymar and Suarez have been in a ruthless mood lately and they compliment eachother so well. Iniesta and Alves have rediscovered their form right on time and Rakitic has been an excellent addition.

Messi is something else, that second goal was a peach. People may talk about Ronaldo being the more complete footballer but Messi is far and away the more complete player. He can do everything in the attaching third, and it's a testament to his genius that he creates so much and scores as many goals as he does. He has made the most dribbles, created the most chances and tops the assists & goals charts in the CL this season. He is ridiculous and he somehow keeps on improving. Ronaldo will keep going in the #9 direction which will guarantee him more goals down the line because he does fuck all outside the box these days but Messi is gradually turning into some sort of mutated attacking midfielder.

when your used to watching Oldham every week its makes a refreshing change to see some good football. Barcelona are a joy to watch but Lionel Messi in particular is on another planet. I could watch that second goal all day.
