I think that could actually be a very good signing for Mansfield, should Green stay fit.

They need someone who can score goals, although I appreciate he's unlikely to be able to fill the boots of the departed wonderkid Bingham.

Green has had one bad unfortunate injury and has since been fit for months and proved himself to be the quickest player at Birmingham football club. He will be fine and he will score at least 15, probably 20+, deal with it guys. Fantastic signing.

The bloke scored 54 league goals in 2 seasons for us, he's got the touch and Murray knows him inside out.

Championship and League one club were interested for a reason, scouts and football people know their onions at that level.

All in All though, despite how dismal things are looking we are still a Football League club ;)

and like I said I hope you stay that way, as it will probably be the end if you drop back down with your current owner and debt levels.

A Birmingham who were completely fucked at the time to be fair.

Vardy > Gray >> Tubbs >>> Green >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Brodie of the top scoring Conference strikers in our time down there, in my humble opinion.

Nicky Adams, talk to me
I think 15 goals is extremely optimistic.

I'd happily wager that we will finish above this season final standings (21st) towards OFF? (That's even with my concerns about pretty much building a squad from scratch via a inexperienced, tactically poor manager in my opinion)

Money is actually increasing a tad this season, the players offered contracts were on reduced terms to be squad players, and Matt Green has got to be worth a shot.

He scored what 7 goals in 30 appearances last season with by all accounts pretty poor service ? I think 10/15 is probably achievable IF he plays week in week, maybe nearer the 10 than 15. As I say I've got no great expectations of him, don't think many city fans have at this stage. We will have a lower half budget again so anything near mid table will do for me. Moving into the new stadium the following season still a league club Is the main criteria.

All 54 in non-league football. A division where fucking John Akinde has scored a load this season. Heck, the last season Green played for you a guy called Adam Cunnington scored nearly just as many and I'll be honest, I have no fucking idea how that is or if in fact he even exists.

Green is 28 and has scored one goal in League football over his entire career. That's with 5 different teams. And with 2 fully-functioning legs.

Blimey, you'd fit right in on Stagsnet with your sunny outlet mate.

I can understand that to people who don't follow our club that it could look like we may be on dodgy ground, however, the vibe around the football club is currently one that suggests that we'll be much stronger in August than we were at the end of the season.

Though as we all know, nobody can predict the outcome of the future and i think that most Stags fans will just be happy to see an improvement on the product and a positive direction in the table.

He's nothing for you to worry about then is he pal?

I suggest that we carry on rejoicing about the return of a club hero, and you continue to not be worried about him being a threat to Notts Co. Both happy, ray!

I provided no opinion, merely the facts.

And you're pretty happy with your facts too!

So it's a win for you and a win for us. Half of Nottinghamshire is happy.....the other half is still rattling on about Cloughie.

Had doubts about Green but he holds the record for the fastest sprint times at Birmingham and they've spent a lot of time and money getting him right. He seems to be in good condition and for league two he should be fine.

Benning also seems to be a promising signing, few walsall fans weren't happy he was let go and he stopped the slide of York. Good luck to both of them.

Trust me it had nothing to do with Benning, he was the first one dropped when we were over our quota of loan players. I know it's human nature in football to slag an ex player that's just joined another club but it sounds to me like all we've done is swap two very average players.

I'm very happy with the signing of Green. Obviously there's no guarantees in football but potentially we could be in for a better season. We'll just have to wait and see.

He will score goals, guaranteed. He's too quick, strong and clever not to. In the Conference it was plain to see that he was ready to step up, hence his move to Birmingham.

Ignore his injuries, ignore the fact he hasn't played for two years. Green is class. He was the complete forward when he left us and we are going to tear this league a new one!!!11!

Okay, perhaps not. I don't see us keeping up with signings of this calibre, but let's just enjoy the moment.

He will score goals for us, I would be happy if it was 15 tbh, it would be a fair return, and it will take him a little while to get going again as well after being out for a season.

Either way, it is a bloody big and good signing for us, and has got the fans going again, which was much needed after the shambles of last season. Would be surprised if he didn't do well

Remember what happened last time Green was a Mansfield player? YEAR OF THE STAG!!!

It's pretty god damn obvious we are due another one, I fully expect us to just pip Hartlepool to the title.

I honestly expect him to smash his career, league goalscoring record very quickly. Been serious though IF he stays fit I don't see any reason why he can't knock a few goals in.

Gary Roberts has had a Twitter spat with a Chesterfield fan about him joining us.

I have to say when I heard Adam Murray say that there was Championship teams interested in Green, my first thought was 'bullshit'. Not sure why any Championship team would take a risk on him when he'd probably be a below average striker in that league. Having said that he will be a good signing if he stays fit, i'm not sure anyone doubts that, but 18 months out is a little too long for my liking.

We had Stephen Elliott this season who had previously had a serious injury at Coventry, got looked after by by them and then released. He spent some time out which Matt Green obviously hasn't done, but by all accounts looked after himself well while he was unattached. He got injured in mid October and was out for the season, a completely different injury to the one he had at Coventry. He's a crock and probably won't find another club - my guess would be Green is in roughly the same boat.

Like I say, if he gets through the whole season then he'll be a great signing and you'll probably be talking 15 goals, but realistically I can't see it happening.

Mental how he wasn't too fast and too good before he joined Mansfield. Must have fitted a jet engine in him or something

It's almost as though I imagined the fifty or so non-league standard players that rolled through Meadow Lane during our five years at 'that level'.

Is this the 1 goal in 56 football league appearances Matt Green or another one?

Don't forget he was a winger before being converted to a striker by Cox.

Even if he's lost a yard he'll be better than what we had this season. The danger is he breaks down a few games in like Hearn did.

Either way, would rather be taking a punt on him than going with the reliable (fitness wise) but uninspiring Rhead et al.

Hearn Got injured because his previous injuries weren't treated properly by poor teams. Green has been in the best care possible and should be on another level to hearn, who I'm sorry but was never going to be a league footballer in my opinion.
