:brill:. You certainly are better run than us and all done on a smaller budget than us both, well done Macc.
Hmm, not sure about better run! The knobs giving stupid money to Steve King 3 years ago nearly put us into the ground! We'd probs have a fairly competitive budget if it wasn't for that episode of complete misguidance!

Looks like Mansfield and Newport could be heading back down to the conference again sooner rather than later just going on how many players they are losing. Fairly hefty cutbacks being made it seems?

No, as murray has stated we're not wasting money on conference standard players. Theres no cutbacks, JR is backing him to get the right players. Were looking at players from a higher level (Adam Barton & Elliot parish are two we've been in contact with) along with players who have done good things in league two and players with high potential. The three types of player successful teams have. 5 or 6 players are almost done deals but the premier league hasn't finished yet and we've got a couple young lads coming from there. Coulthirst from Tottenham being one we've shown interest in. If JR makes sure murray gets the squad he wants we will be at the right end of the league. Its exciting times for us at the moment.

Mansfield were the only supporters who found it amusing to take to twitter and laugh at our demise.... Other then bolton i never wish relegation on anyone normally but next year i really hope you guys go down

Even though quite a few of your fans really, really let themselves and your club down at the game at Field Mill, I find it odd someone would post on twitter at someone else's relegation, especially when we have the feeling ourselves.

Maybe the comment about wishing we come down is a bit of a contradiction - enjoy the FA trophy and playing infront of crowds of 500 though

Jay Harris has signed for Tranmere.

Not surprised or bothered. Hasn't been a 'player' for us for 3 seasons now.

A surprise but not really a surprise if truth be told considering where he's gone, Mills wanted to keep him so this is one Tranmere can use against us. That's the last of the old guard gone, all his mates have gone so probably didn't want to be the last of the old team. On his day he is still one of the best midfielders down here, but those days haven't been there consistently since 2013. An even less surprising one would be Neil Ashton joining him there. Harris will benefit from a change of scenery, all in all he's been a great player for us and it's still a quality signing for Tranmere. Not often you get regular players staying for 5 years at a club in the Conference so it will be a weird team without him and Keates in midfield.

Kevin Wilkin is smiling somewhere, all the ringleaders who got him the sack have left the club.

Great alongside Keates for a while, but he wasn't quite at his best when we gave him a new contract 2 years ago. He was abysmal for Andy Morrell's final season. He didn't really improve under WIlkin, then managed a couple of good performances in the latter half of last season. Maybe Tranmere will get the player we had in those games, but I wouldn't count on it.

Joe Clarke's a bigger loss.

With high earners like Bishop and Harris gone as well as Clarke, we are going to have a very good budget to play with now. I'm expecting some real quality to come into that midfield.

I think for the squad Clarke might be, this is because of Harris' recurring hip/back injury and obviously his suspensions. Those first 2 years of Harris he was really dynamite in the midfield, even with the obscene number of bookings he picked up. That niggling on and off injury changed him as a player, he was never the same getting about the pitch.

Can't remember the last time Tranmere signed a player from Wrexham, but if this Harris lad can have half the effect big Jim Steel had when he signed for us from Wrexham I'll be happy.

Not that bothered about Jay going tbh

Was brilliant when he 1st came but not been the same player the last few seasons. If you can get him to his best then he will be a great signing for you but it frees up mpre wages for us and gets rid of more of the old guard for us. A good deal for both teams

Naturally gutted but was about time really. Good when he wants to be. Used to be the best midfielder in the league about four years ago. Feel a bit sorry for Clarke - he always gave 100%, just has limited ability. Will be good for a Chester or a Lincoln.

Mills has plenty to play with now. Has to get quality in. Expecting a couple of big signings.

With a whole new squad to find I wonder whether we can persuade Clarke or Ashton to drop down a league. Might have interest in Rushton as well.

That's Tranmere topping the disciplinary charts next season then.

He's really good on his day, but he's been going downhill for a while now.

Check the Conference North thread for all the County details iesty. But in a nutshell Young has released all the out of contract players and transfer listed 5 out of the 7 contracted players. Leaving our player of the year Danny Hurst and an injured Centre back who is going to assessed when fit again in August/September.
Fagbola never pushed on from the potential he showed in his season in the Conference and was used purely to cover injuries last season. Ormson was back up to Hurst but did a decent job when called upon. His lack of Height will always hold him back unfortunately but he needs to be fist choice somewhere this year.

Wasn't Cheek on contract at Chelmsford? Anyway, decent signing... an excellent striker (he scored over 20 times last season) but prone to missing the absolute sitter on occasion.

Jay had a great couple of seasons when he first joined but since then has been part of a midfield in a team which finished 17th and 11th. He just seemed to lose his spark and mojo after the season we lost out to Fleetwood. Rumours are he was the highest paid player at the club too. Best for all concerned he moves on I think.

Not on twitter, so didn't see the remarks there. From what footage I saw and reports of the off-field action from those at the game, there was fault from all sides, including the home stewards, Notts police as well as a few Rovers hotheads. There seem to be a few negative remarks about trips to Field Mill on the L2 boards, which suggest there is a problem.
I'm fairly indifferent as to who comes down, save we'll be playing them as not expecting a quick exit from this league. 'Clever' remarks like your last, make me more inclined to agree with the OP sentiments

Was it Gary Bennett, who ended up being shunted onto the wing by Kingy? Agree Jim Steel was class, but have considerable reservations about Harris.

Don't think there's anyone we've signed so far I don't have reservations about. Having said that, I'm actually getting a season ticket this year (God help me).

I'm still annoyed that Ledsham didn't really get up and running here.
