Things We Hate

People, who when you ask them politely if they've got a light, hold onto their lighter whilst they light your cig. It's a hapless exercise in windy weather. Do they think you're going to run off with their fucking lighter if they hand it over?

I always hand over my lighter...

I can run quite quick though, so if someone tried to run off with a 70p lighter then I'd most likely catch them and bury them into the concrete

Saying that, I have a pink clipper and have done for about a year now. Nobody would run away with that

Apps updating.

Why do they need to update so often and why do they all seem to do it at once? My phone has been updating apps for the past 20 minutes and it's making it slower than Rick Waller on a mobility scooter.

I think the unemployed community of 1FF will appreciate this. I fucking hate the month of May. All these bank holidays are just another nail in my gmail coffin where I see 0 mails coming in (and not all that much going out as new offers aren't happening BECAUSE PEOPLE AREN'T WORKING! FUCKERS!). In England, it's not so bad as you have the first of May (which happened on the 4th this year for some reason) and this Monday (I have no idea what's it for and I don't give a shit!). France & Germany have two more and they're both on a Friday (it could be worse: when it's on a Thursday, most companies don't work on Fridays and some for Tuesday for Monday and you know what I mean I don't have to draw you a fucking picture).

Monday won't be too bad though as I'll be helping my sister moving into her new flat. Gets me out of the house I guess (then again, I'm sure to miss the play-off final, FML).

Anyway.

People talking to me when I'm in the gym. I'm a big sweaty mess and this really fit woman hardly breaking a sweat on the machine next to me says "it's a killer isn't it?".

I wheezed something incoherent back and moved on.

I think she wants you to dip your cheese in her biscuit to be honest.

Today is a particularly bad day. I moved back to my parents' (suicide) at Easter because I had a job interview in Strasbourg for a French bank where I'll be working in Frankfurt and then Stuttgart. The boss gave the go-ahead, all I needed was the green light from HR. Interview went well, I had to do a test where I had to reply to questions which gave away several traits of my personality and the actual interview corroborated what I had answered.
This morning I call the boss who confirms me that he was ok to take me on but that HR didn't give the green light. What is really not cool is that they didn't give the job to someone else but just didn't give it to me as I'm sure I was the sole candidate (I don't know a lot of French people who'd want to move to Stuttgart, even I had reservations). This is the second time that this has happened. Why oh why do HR feel they can just take a decision over someone they've only spent an hour with and just let the business have more work just over a fucking hunch? If there was a better candidate I would understand but there's no one else! I was always told that if the business wants you then HR don't have a particular say or if they do it's that the business are pussies or that HR are way out of line.

What I'm very pissed off about is that I had to call Frankfurt repeatedly to get the information today while the decision was taken in early May. But I can't fault the bank too much on that one as it is a recruitment agency who were supposed to call me with the bad news. I called him this morning and he said he was sure that he'd told me over the phone. So instead of just hoping to get the call for almost a month, I could have moved on!

Of course, I didn't put my eggs in the same basket. I've got an opporutnity in Birmingham and another in Northern Paris. Both offering roughly the same wage.

Still a very, very bad day in what is fast becoming a very shit 2015.

Things I hate, feeling groggy after realising I'd drank half a bottle of whisky, when I only had two nips!

Funerals. My mate Ken who died of cancer last week is getting buried today in Glastonbury and i need to keep it together for his son.

Getting so paralytic that you miss your last train home and sleep in a chair in the office and getting the dlr home at 6am.

When i was a kid the build up on both ITV and BBC used to be good as it was about football but now the BBC involves airhead celebs who want publicity because their careers are going down the shitter . When both channels covered the final you could switch channels if you got bored of one even though you had to get up and change channels before remote controls, happy days!

Yeah it really was a TV event back then. I was watching a bit of the 73 final earlier today between Leeds and Sunderland and the hairstyles were fabulous but the atmosphere there puts today's lot into shame.

I always watched the BBC due to how ridiculously bright the colour was on ITVs coverage.

Noticed a good number of aerial shots with the EE logo on the roof.

Yuk.
