Even though his form has plummeted the last couple of seasons, he is still miles ahead of Montoya and Douglas and I would want him to stay for a year at least.

In what world is Benitez a better manager than Ancelotti?! Madrid get everything they deserve. There is a not a 'perfect' manager out there. To manage Real Madrid, you have to win the league every season and get very close to the Champions League whilst playing in a stylish manner. It's impossible to do that year in, year out. This time next year, we'll be looking at who will be replacing Rafa.

Shocking no. Outrageous, yes. What a joke of a club Real are. The fact they want Rafa Benitez is also a joke. No wonder they don't win as much as Barcelona.

As much as his sacking's harsh (though very much par for the course with Real Madrid) I do wonder whether Ancelotti is a bit of an underachiever in some respects. It doesn't seem to be picked up on an awful lot but he's only actually won three domestic championships in his entire managerial career - one in Italy, one in England, one in France. Given the clubs he's been at and the length of time he's been coaching I can't help but think that that's a pretty poor return. Obviously he's a fine coach, and I hold him in much higher regard than Benitez, but he needs to improve on that rather underwhelming record.

One of the top ten managers in the world over the last decade going to the biggest and most glamorous club in the world, he deserves his chance there even though I can foresee it failing quite quickly due to Perez's constant meddling.

Carlo is a fairly laid-back chap but he'll get his tactics right when it matters. If the guy in front of him is making a mistake, he'll exploit and kill the opponent on the pitch. He doesn't mind playing boring football though (did it with PSG and Chelsea) and can come across as a very careless manager for someone in such a high position. He's also a bit too stubborn in his tactics against shit sides (playing 442 with us for half a season just to accomodate Pastore wasn't great). I think his main flaw in that respect is that he doesn't care if the football is not great to watch which obviously doesn't fly with Real Madrid and Pérez. Tbh, I don't think why Real Madrid appoint Italian managers at all. Round pegs in square holes and all that.

Would be nice to have him go back to Serie A with a team with a decent budget in order to challenge Juve. Milan would be great.
