Playing through Bully currently. On the task where you have to protect a fat kid and take him to the toilet. Game is fun but it crashes a lot. PC Master Race benefits.

Settling down and playing through Murdered: Soul Suspect. Hope to finish it tonight. Spotted this just now:

I've started Indigo Prophecy Remastered on PC. Great game so far. I'm about five mins in so far but it's been great.

Just finishing off Red Dead Redemption. Got bored of it like 3-4 years ago now (not sure why) so working through what is about the final half of the storyline.

After that i'll move onto either Fable 3 or LA Noire. Trying to finish loads of half started games on my 360 before I finally upgrade to current gen.

Started playing Blizzards attempt at a MOBA Heroes of the Storm yesterday, currently in open beta and released at beginning of June.

Really enjoying it, not played league of legends for quite a while, but liking HOTS more, its more team based with a varity of maps, team XP rather than individual xp and objectives on the map, rather than laning forever, also quicker games with most lasting around 20 mins.

I find it suffers from the same problem LoL suffers from, in that there's not enough OP spells.

In Dota 2 there are many many spells that are incredibly OP (I'm looking at you Chronosphere) but there is another spell or item that is equally OP and counters it. Still, if you make 1 positioning mistake against the wrong hero, your whole team can wipe in seconds. This level of extremes makes the game very challenging and fun, whereas if you don't have this MOBA's tend to feel dull and difficult to secure kills and fights tend to be drawn out affairs with spammy spells rather than one big HYPE spell changing the fight.

Another problem is that you really need a team to do it properly, at least 2 or 3 guys bare minimum. In pubs a lot of guys don't do the rights things when objectives are out, or after objectives and it can be annoying.

HoTS is kinda fun in its own way, but won't replace Dota 2 as the go-to MOBA for me

Apart from the issues I said above, the meta game is too strict and inflexible to me, and the pool of actually relevant heroes is too small. I've given LoL a good crack of the whip but Dota 2 is just far more complex, has more facets and is more unforgiving. I don't know if coming from a SC2 background swayed me to that opinion - now that's a hard fucking game

Never played DOTA but watch a fair bit of the competitive stuff. Played a bit of LOL and still enjoy watching it a lot more than dota but don't play anymore. Enjoying the differences in HOTS and feel it suits me more as someone who doesn't have time to play lots and at the moment the lack of a toxic community in game, though am sure that will change as it gets more popular.

9 months ago I'd never played a moba. Since then I've tried LoL, Dota, Smite, HoN and HotS. Heroes was the first that I had a lot of fun in as a noob, so I've stuck with it.

Shove your complexity. Only after I quit playing SC2 seriously did I realise how physically and mentally destructive the effort required to be good at games like that had been. I'll take casual all day long. I don't want to feel under pressure for the entirety of a game.

Pretty much a free version of Destiny, pretty massive world and the whole intro part alone should you call it that took us 3 hours. Now can go to other planets and stuff, woo.

I understand that as 'hard' games can just be too much sometimes, which is when I whip out the PS4 or something. Do you not find though, unless you have a level of investment in a game, it ends up just becoming boring and you fade away from it?

To be honest, I don't know why I'm even talking about this as I get to play games a couple of hours a week these days, max. When I'm not working I'm doing the girlfriend thing or the family thing, it sucks

Is Heroes of the Storm beginner friendly? Not played too much of similar games. LoL was pretty good for the limited time I tried it and that DOTA2 was utter shite.

Well I'm naturally competitive enough to not settle for being bad or blissfully unaware, so I do always aim to have a good grasp of the mechanics and be aware of the meta of any online game I play. But unlike the other mobas I've tried, the ability to enjoy myself in Heroes didn't feel gated by these. I still managed to have fun even when I was absolutely clueless.

Maybe I'll eventually get bored of it, but I doubt it will be because I've not adopted the game as a way of life. For now it feels perfect for the small amount of time I have to dedicate to it.

Yeah it's decent - it's definitely annoying when no fucker follows the objectives though! Or just one or two realise the importance of them, and the importance of keeping on pressure with camps afterwards, and you get pulled down. It's a game best enjoyed with premades (which I guess you could say for any MP game)

Played Ep 4 of GoT. Excellent, thought 2 & 3 were ok and nothing more but this one is potentially my favourite Telltale episode across any series - LOTS of story development, some good action scenes and a couple of exceptionally good choices (including one where apparently it's possible to get a Game Over screen). The dialogue was much better as well, I felt previously it was a bit of a lottery in terms of what reaction each option got but this one I managed to manipulate most scenes favourably just by paying attention and remembering certain information they give you earlier on.

I find HotS more fun than LoL becasue you can still play it and have fun and be competitive without the worry of being the best or better than others. In LoL you have to worry about last hitting, kill stealing, getting gold, the dozens of items and builds and the games goes on for ages. In HotS no need to worry about any of that, the team all levels together and I find people work together more especially with the objectives and the 20 min games are perfect for me.

Gone are the days were I want to be the best at games, am too old for that now and realise I was too early to be a top competitive gamer, esports is a big thing these days, when I started competitive gaming in the late 90s it was just getting off the ground and not that serious.

I think it would be good to have a separate MOBA thread instead of hijacking this thread, the community is large enough for sure and there are multiple games.
