Do your fans not get to vote on this?

No thankfully or we'd be paying peanuts and still playing in the evo stik. We vote members on to the board who then make these decisions.

This does seem to be a regional thing. If we had to reform and play at Southern Midlands League/Combined Counties League level I don't thing we would get this sort of gyp from Leverstock Green and Camberley Town fans because hardly any of the locals in London and the South East care about their local small non-league teams.

At step five/six many clubs' audiences are dominated by relatives and well-wishing mates of players and staff, and many of the fans have minor working roles in the club, so there are more that "make it happen" than passive fans, much of the time. Sure plenty have fanbases though, especially in the Northern League (Ebac). It's nice to see crowds on the up in the Isthmians over the last few years though. Half the crowds in the Ryman North/South didn't break 100 then, but this weekend alone there were 400 at Carshalton and almost 1000 at Hastings, and these are struggling sides. Good for them.

The northern glue leagues are pretty interesting at the moment though. Maybe when two fans of bigger sides find themselves in the same regional league they get excited and take on the whole Joneses-next-door ethos. I think there's a lot of that in it.

A bit off topic, but this kit from the 1970's is really nice. I want it.

Heard the manager on the non-league program speculating about which level they would be at, talking about step 5 or step 4, not 6. While the FA can always go back on their rules, I doubt they would in this case because it would be breaking two rules instead of one. That said if another step 4+ club goes bust/resigns then they could well find a step 4 spot for either Salisbury or Hereford, but I'd suspect the former would get it. That or they will give a reprieve to a bottom club, or promote an extra team.

I think the rise in attendances in the Isthmian have a lot to do with how disaffected many are with league football. That level, the occasional Conf South game and the likes of the Essex Senior and Kent Premier (whatever its called these days) are the only football I go to now. For a start the quality of the football is quite surprising, quite a lot of teams try and pass it about, the general feel, to me, is like being back at games in the 80's/90's but without all the hassle.
Like you say a lot of people there are something to do with the club/players. I have to say I rarely meet people at these games who actually support the teams involved. I went to an Aveley game recently where all the people I had a chat to were supporters of London and Essex league sides. There was a group of 10 blokes who were Millwall fans, just fed up of paying too much to watch football and the general shite atmosphere of games.

Oh, and on topic, Hereford FC should so be wearing that 70's kit next season!

Passed over 700 season tickets a few days ago, also announced our kit supplier will be Macron. Exciting times ahead.

AnthraxDaveHUFC are you happy with the make-up of your board? Does your Supporters Trust have significant representation on it? Reason I ask is that someone on our forum, Deva Chat, seem to think you've got people on your board who could take you down the wrong road again. I personally, wish you all the best and hope we can have a friendly.

Confirmed that Heanor have been transferred to the Midland League for 2015/16. May pop over if I can when Hereford visit as its less than a 5 minute walk from my house.

Also BTW Hereford fans I believe as most do that you will walk the league but I would expect Heanor to be your cloest challengers. Heanor have Money. The two teams to be transferred from the NCEL into the New Midland League last season (Basford and Long Eaton) Finished 1st and 3rd. Without a doubt the NCEL is much stronger than the Midland League. Heanor have beaten 7 teams in the Midland League in the FA Vase in recent years.

Basford are a strong team, I believe with a bit of cash behind them. We played them in the Vase previously in an extremely entertaining 5-3 match. They were also in step 6 at the time.

Also I think it's a bit of a mis-nomer to use that as a marker for which league is stronger if Heanor were one of the best teams in the NCEL. It's like saying that because we beat a number of teams from the SSM that the UCL is clearly a stronger league. It may or may not be (and I actually believe it is from the games we had), but it's not a good measure since you'd expect us to beat most UCL clubs in the competition if we were randomly drawn against them.

Still I do expect Hereford to finish at worst 2nd with the resources that should be available to them, and the profile of the club.

Any updates from the bulls fans in terms of who you are having coming in to play, or how high your season ticket numbers have gone?

788 season tickets as off Saturday, as for players still no confirmed players, few rumours going around about a couple of ex players.

I guess there will be nothing confirmed until 1st July or later unless you are signing players on contract!

I'm pleased for Hereford fans but a part of me can't help but feel angered that new clubs get favoured at the expense of existing clubs.

What "step" is this then, 3, 4, 5?

Probably get a good boost before the start of the season too when people have had a chance to watch the friendlies and hopefully experience a good positive atmosphere. Could be averaging about 2k or more if you start well I'd assume.
