Tony Gray has signed for Airbus according to someone on Deva Chat. What a waste!
Huge waste, but he's been offered a king's ransom there by all accounts so no real surprise I suppose.

A small unrealistic part of me hoped that we might sign him. Be very interested to see who Young brings in up front.

Proper excited to see what Josh MacDonald will have to offer in our friendlies. Can't even find how old he is as he hasn't got a player profile anywhere on the web. Serious digging has found him for us. Similar to us signing Dominic Marie and Lois Maynard at this level from Winsford United: the former disappeared into the loan market and the latter is one of our best players, a real class act. Bloody love that man. Gah. MacDonald on the other hand looks as slight as any player you could find at Conference level so we'll have to see. Looks in his teens from the match photos of him mind, and the top Northern League sides have an unusually high standard for step five. I like a wildcard.

Glad Pittman has resigned, he is a decent striker for this level, just need to be fit more often, managed 10 goals in around 30 games last season, with about 10 of them games as a sub. Decent return, just injury prone, hopefully we can get a full season out of him this time.

Offering an injury prone striker who isn't that good makes little to no sense to me. Especially when we've been lacking options up top pretty much all season long. I hope Hurst has got something up his sleeve with regards to Ross Hannah's replacement.

Southport have signed the following new players:

Adam Blakeman (Left back), Peter Cavanagh (Right back), Andy Wright (Right back, Midfielder), Jamie Allen (Striker)

The new faces include experienced ex-Accrington Stanley, Fleetwood and Rochdale player Peter Cavanagh, who joins from league rivals Altrincham.

Cavanagh will be Carden's player-coach as his first step into a management role.

Also with considerable Football League experience is 6`1” midfielder Andy Wright, who joins from Morecambe having also played for Scunthorpe, Grimsby Town and in the USA.

Following a spell at Ayr United, former Bolton Wanderers and Hyde left-back Adam Blakeman moves back closer to his Burscough base. He is the younger brother of ex-Port players Chris and Liam Blakeman.

Nineteen-year-old striker Jamie Allen has signed from Fleetwood, having already achieved Football League appearances and will compete upfront with the mightily impressive end of season find Connor McCarthy, who is now a contracted 'Port player.

I like Pittman, he's been a good squad player for us. He was on my undecided list due to his injuries but Hurst wants to keep as many as the players together as possible. He's played a lot more of a part than Hannah has so I can understand why we've chosen him over Hannah.

If JP could stay fit he'd a really good player at this level. Tricky, good movement, good finishing. We had a good rotation of strikers last season with him, LJL and Palmer. We just need someone above and beyond to go with them.

I don't agree with that. We only had Palmer for half a season, combine that with Hannah barely getting a chance and not performing when he did and Pittman never far away from a niggle and I'd say that our choice of strikers was poor for a side pushing for promotion. If we hand't have been so good at the back, we'd have got nowhere near the playoffs. Same defence and midfield with better (fully fit and at the club from August) strikers, we'd have got closer to the title. I hope Pittman does the business next season, don't get me wrong. I like him and he has done well when he's played. However it's gonna be annoying if we're consistently a striker or two away from Hurst having an option, especially if we're bringing in another Hamish Watson to sit on the bench. A situation that was made all the more frustrating when you see Dayle Southwell banging them in every week at Boston.

Oh don't get me wrong yeah it's definitely not a top 3 or maybe even top 5 standard of strikers, our defence definitely got us to where we were. I also don't agree with Hurst when he said if we'd had our end of season squad in August we'd have won the league. I personally think if we swapped LJL for Akinde we'd have won the league. Hopefully we'll have the luxury of having both types of players this coming season. There's no doubt about it Hurst's number 1 priority, and has been for the past 2 seasons, is signing a goalscorer.

We've signed Sam Walker off of Curzon Ashton. 28, left midfielder, voted players', fans' and manager's player of the year this season.

Ben Tomlinson has gone to Barnet. A good move for both parties I feel, I wish him all the luck in the world.

Yep best of luck Tomo our most consistent player the last two seasons, grab your second chance at being a league footballer with both hands.
I'm sure him and Akinde will be a handful for league 2 defences next season.

Belford confirmed. As is the much anticipated return of Lee "unsettled within 3 months" Fowler.

Tomlinson had one shot at the league already with us and didn't really look up to it. Though we were shire all round to be fair. Plus he jumped up about 3 divisions last time so his 2 year stint with Lincoln might of just helped him out a bit more.

I wish him all the best but he's always struck me as a good Conference player and little more (one we could have done holding onto mind). Deserves another chance though and I don't blame him for moving on.

Seen quite a few players grab the second chance, a former manager of ours was a master at giving them that and them grabbing it.

Strong rumour that Shaun Pearson is off to Barnsley. Can't blame him as he has been a great servant for 4 seasons. His lack of pace may be a problem for him in league 1 though.

I heard a Halifax defender was off to Barnsleh on here, Roberts? They're either raiding the Conference or the Halifax defender is no longer going there.

EDIT: I see the Halifax defender has indeed signed - raiding the Conference it is then.

Belford to Wrexham is a weird one even if he is back up. Probably the worst keeper I've seen us play against in recent years.

Mills says he's gonna be 1st choice. I've seen him play twice I think for Tamworth, one was at the Racecourse a couple of seasons back where we won 2-0.. but it would have been about 8-0 if it wasn't for him, was incredible that night.
