PM works, like I previously said. Chop chop.

And what would yours be like?

'I haven't done anything substantial for many years, but back in medieval times I was excellent and well known in this profession!'

Medieval times was not 1990s and 80s, sorry mate.

By the way, have you ever done anything substiantal ever? Anything you may be remembered by if you went bust tomorrow? Probably not. But hey, potential.

When Bury won the FA cup in 1900 and 1903, we were a bigger club than both Man City and Man U... Are we today? No of course not..

Why? Because football moves on... Clubs get replaced as time goes on.. Coventry have been replaced and are no longer a massive club.
I agree. When Bristol have actually achieved something, then they can go on about how much bigger they are. They are certainly in a better position and have the potential (the Bristol City buzz word) to try and full fill there aims, until they do there is no discussion to be had. In 1900 were Man City bleating about how massive they were because of there potential?

The competition clearly wasn't our priority, more top quality baiting there.

And how sure are you sure we wouldn't sell 43k given we sold 32k for the area final? Something you've admitted you couldn't do.
I think you'll find it was - the first taste of success Coventry City were on the Potential of having for years, whereas last season it was just a buildup/dress rehearsal to our L1 Title.

Coventry averaged less than us this season /thread.
Don't forget we had a month at Sixfields of crowds of 1500 ish.

Next season under Mowbray should see crowds improve dramatically ,plus we are supposedly having some non SISU investment, well that's the rumour anyway

I don't think you're in any position to comment on 'clubs going bust' given the financial shit you've landed yourself in.

Oh - and I'd be just fine if we were remembered by just this interview:

So your an expert on Coventry now are you? I'm telling you it wasn't

Your making yourself look a tit now mate.

Make an argument based on something other than potential, go on!

The only big club in this league last season was Sheffield United...and they're not massive.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not making us out to be some sort of massive club or anything, but I'm simply arguing the fact we are a bigger club than Coventry IMO, and have the (I'll use that great word again) potential to be far, far bigger, due to circumstances I've already thoroughly gone over.

So, I'll ask again. Done anything what anyone would remember Bristol City by? I'm also not able to send you a message because of rights again.

Lets have some examples then - because all I read on your fans forums whenever I have had a gaze is the moaning about the croc of shite you are producing, the lack of promotions, and more importantly, the lack of success.

Bristol City have existed for over 100 years now and has never been bigger than Coventry City. Potential is normally fulfilled within 5 years. I just don't think you're going to be anything more than a small club doing good tbh.

Where do I start?

The 9 years in the Top Flight? The Great Eight? The 3 JPT wins? The Double Winning season that just has just taken place? That incredible PO final year? Having a Chairman who loves the club who is worth £1.5 billion?

I actually might sign up and create a topic on a Bristol City forum so I can finally prove it. I'll probably get laughed at that I'm even comparing the clubs though

So after 100 years you're still nothing more than a small club who has never done anything significant? You've got potential though.

I hate we are bigger than you threads with a passion. At the moment Cov are a decent sized league one club and that's that, end of.

Bristol and MK Dons will have bigger crowds next season simply because they will be in the Championship which includes big away followings, not the 35 from Fleetwood etc that you get in this league.
Until SISU finally f**k o**, our potential will never be seen, as too many fans are staying away

But that's nothing significant mate. Try winning a major honour or staying in the top flight for year on year. I'm sure a conversation down the pub would be like this

A: Bad news about Bristol City ain't it?

B: Yeah I know mate. Remember the 3 JPT wins?

At least they'd be young enough to remember it - there ain't going to be many around that can remember the 'glory days' of Coventry City FC, and I'd suggest that there ain't going to be for generations to come.

As I've already said, staying in the top flight for as long as we did and winning the cup goes down as success in my books. I don't agree with a lot of the moaning gits who moan about how hard we've had it on the pitch (before our decline started we had it pretty good)

Now you come back with something that tops that success. Yes you have potential to possibly go on and be successful and are undoubtedly in a better position for us, I'm not disputing that. Until you fullfill that potential with something substantial, it is just exactly that though. For me success and achievements > potential, it is why as I pointed out earlier Liverpool, Aston Villa and Everton are bigger clubs than Newcastle despite Newcastle having greater attendances than all 3.

Oh yeah, fuck sake, forgot the 3 JPT wins.
I didn't - I was there to live them.

I'm sure you were there in the early 1900's when Coventry were the equivalent of today's Manchester United weren't you?

Probably the most sensible post I've read in this thread from a Coventry fan.

I'm not disputing the success of Coventry City - but the points I've been making are the periods of time that they commenced, and how it is now.

A big club isn't just determined by past, you have to take all things into account.

Was alive in 1987. A major trophy, do you know what one of them is? I was alive to see playing the best and competing with the best for 34 years too mate. I also saw us beat Bayern Munich when you were probably playing Yeovil.
