Personally never minded Rangers, it's Celtic I don't like.

Hmmm, I prefer any other team in Scotland over Rangers and Celtic but Celtic just seem much less objectionable than Rangers to me.
Very pleased about yesterday's result. Only found out about it now!
Is it true that the referee for yesterday's match was an ex-Rangers season ticket holder?!

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
enjoyed watching it last night, added in fun by having the pie and Bovril website up and reading the match threads which were full on anti-Rangers so quite funny.

I'm not too much against Rangers, they were relegated and re-built so that is fine, but once BT kicked in with their extremely bias build-up on Rangers it does get you into following the other side....but it was always going to be authorities and media wanting Rangers and fans Motherwell.

Rangers have a chance, that last 5 mins showed to me Well's confidence is low, once Rangers scored they crumbled.........if...........if they score first they have a great chance...........but I am unsure with their terrible defence, it is astounding how poor some of Rangers players are considering they will be on English Championship wages.

Sevco are a horrid club managed by morons, hope Motherwell finish the job.

I still can't believe Rangers were paying the wages they were when they were in Scottish League 2, Ian Black on 6k a week turning out against the dog and duck. Horrible management.

They could have assembled a squad of Conference North standard players and gained successive promotions in the way they did.
Even the Scottish Championship is only Conference National level and judging by the number of ex-League 2 players at Scottish Premiership clubs you still wouldn't have to have a squad full of £6k per week players to perform at that level.

I think Rangers biggest problem was they should have got someone in charge when McCoist left who knows them leagues, Derek Adams was a great shout for them, to follow up McCoist who has struggled like hell due to not knowing the leagues with McCall who again has never worked that league was for me madness.

but the one thing you notice from them last night is how little their players give a sh*t,t hey are all clearly there for the money. Most labored about, look badly unfit or just plain uninterested. Your there in a play-off final for promotion with 49,000 fans..........49,000 and yet a lot of the time the Rangers players never got out of walking pace.

If you've players cannot bother their backsides in them conditions................you need to get rid en masse and re-start.

maybe failure will do them good, they'd go back down as it is.

McCall is probably the best guy to lead Rangers in the mid-term, he's a decent manager, knows the club well and is a passionate fan of them too. If he doesn't get them up in the second leg, he should at least be given next season imo.

And all the better for it without that lot being in the league. No doubt they'll get back soon enough, but another season in the Championship for them will be fine for a lot of neutrals.
I am sorry but how can a result depriving us of the Old firm Derby be good for the neutrals? Scottish Football needs Rangers in the top division. I mean even Celic Need them for some competition in terms of stature and budget at least.

The Old Firm Derby is not football, it's sectarian warfare.

Followed by a sharp rise in domestic violence postmatch for the losers other halves - and I'm not joking. Both of those clubs are a scourge on Scottish Football, they should just bugger off to Dublin/Belfast and be done with it.

Yes, I've heard about the study which came up with those findings regarding domestic violence against OF matches, it's really disturbing and horrible.
They should both relocate to the Isle of Man and play each other 40 times a year.

I wouldn't wish them on the Isle of Man or anywhere else tbh mate! :D

I remember I was at a Celtic game at Dens about 10 years ago now on Rememberance Day and we had a minutes silence, but a loud section of the away end started signing loudly through it sectarian songs - even someone in their end told them to shut the fuck up. I know you get dicks at all clubs, but the Old Firm yobs seem to revel in being cnuts.

It's become something of a folklore that on Old Firm days the vast majority of Rangers and Celtic fans turn into raging wife beaters.

I'm not in the business of defending those characters, but fortunately it's not actually true:

"The headline figure of 138 per cent comes from a 2013 St Andrews University studywhich found that, on average, reported incidents of domestic violence increase in the 24 hours before after an Old Firm game kicks off from 66 to 121. The relative increase sounds dramatic but the actual – or ‘absolute’ – incidence is miniscule to begin with."

"This is classic statistical smoke and mirrors. As a proportion of spectators inside Hampden Park, the additional 55 reported incidents represent a mere 0.1 per cent. But, of course, most Celtic and Rangers fans were not at the match. They were watching at home or in the pub. The more we interrogate this supposed ‘spike’, the flakier the evidence actually appears. But the singular focus on Old Firm games has nothing to do with academic rigour. The steady stream of police press releases linking domestic abuse to Old Firm games serves to reinforce the narrative that working-class football fans are knuckle-dragging wife-beaters. It’s a poisonous fiction that needs to be booted into Row Z."

Anyway, very disappointed at the result. I never saw the game due to the time difference, but from the highlights it looked like we created a fair few chances.

I can see us scoring a couple at theirs, but there's no way we'll keep a clean sheet with our current defence...

Inverness looking to win their 1st Scottish Cup.

Shame that the keeper buggered it up as Falkirk were looking good. Anyway well done to my namesake for winning Caley Thistle their first Scottish Cup!

Well done Inverness CT, great to see different finals to the usual Celtic V Rangers. Great run from Falkirk to get to the final but the SPL side just had the extra quality, John Hughes has done a cracking job and delivered a fantastic season for Inverness, 3rd place and a Cup win.

I really enjoyed that final, very good atmosphere considering the 2 sides involved and while first half was drb, Falkirk really upped their game 2nd half and the last 15 minutes was fascinating with the sending off, Equalizer then winning goal.

its the type of final i like to see, both sides get their 'moment' abit of drama and some passion thrown in.

I'm pleased for Inverness - they've been a very good side for a while, despite being so small and constantly losing their best players. All Scottish sides lose their better players, but usually at least to a 'big' side and for a fee. They've lost most players on a free, and to other sides in Scotland, which will only continue this summer with Shinnie already off to Aberdeen and Watkins out of contract. This is probably as good as it will ever get for them, and it's hugely deserved.

If you only care about watching the Old Firm games turn into a fight 4 times a year, which included me in the past, then Rangers coming back up would be a positive. But for Scotland in general, the last few years have been a lot more enjoyable for the rest of the league. Celtic are guaranteed the league title still, but teams have a chance to fight for 2nd and get into Europe. Aberdeen won their first trophy in 19 years last year, had 45 000 fans at the final and 60 000 fans on Union Street for the parade. A local couple have just cleared their debts, allowing them to keep hold of Ryan Jack and other key players, as well as pay a transfer fee for the first time in years. There's a real sense that Celtic can be challenged - would any of that have happened without that sense of hope?

For the other teams, Inverness have just won their first ever cup, as St Johnstone did last year. Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and St Mirren have won the league cup. Aberdeen and Motherwell have finished 2nd in the league for the first time in god knows how long. The SPFL has just secured an improved TV deal, attendances are excellent, youth players are coming through and fans are happier. Rangers will come back eventually, but hopefully not at the expense of the improvement the rest of Scotland has made in the last few years.

Having one team spending more than the other 11 sides put together isn't competitive, but at least provides a few opportunities. Having two just sends it back to how it's been for the last 25 years.

Now that would be an appointment I'd have never expected, managed at that level with Hartlepool before but couldn't rescue them from the drop. I thought it looked nailed on for Nigel Adkins.

Disgraceful from Rangers, another season at that level is awful. Credit to Motherwell though, they live to fight another season in the top flight so Ian Barraclough has fulfilled his remit.

6-1 is a real hammering. I think it shows just how far Rangers have to improve to get back to where they used to be. Without spending beyond their means again, will that happen? Hibs and St Mirren will be a similar opposition next year with one automatic spot.

Unless something radical changes playing staff wise this summer I think the league is Hibernian's for the taking.

Quite funny that sacking McCall proved to be a good decision in the end. He had to leave to fufil his remit to keep Motherwell up.

Hibs will probably lose Scott Allan, maybe Fyvie as well. I think they need a lot more up front too. St Mirren have picked up form recently and if they dont lose too many players, they might be a bigger threat.
