The ICC have confirmed that they're ruining the world cup by stopping the associate nations from taking part.

Also, now that ODIs are better than they've ever been before, they've decided to change the fielding restrictions.

Lovely stuff. Cricket administrators never help the sport, really.
Do you think this will mean ireland will now be given full status , it's overdue ?

I don't think it will happen in the next 5 years or so. They're setting up a first class competition soon and I think it makes sense to allow that to run for a while before they go for full status. Being patient will allow them to avoid some of the mistakes made by Bangladesh, who clearly got their full status a few years too soon and before they had a FC competition. I think they should get it at some point, but I also think the elites are pretty happy with the closed-shop situation so Ireland need to present an absolutely watertight case before they are given test status.

Unlikely at the moment I would say as they would need to play Test Cricket too and I think they aren't quite prepared for that.

Day night test match coming soon:

[New Zealand Cricket has agreed to play a day-night Test against Australia as part of a deal that will resume regular cricket between the two neighbours after a gap of four years and provide a significant financial leg-up for New Zealand.

The inaugural, experimental day-night Test will be played at Adelaide Oval with a pink Kookaburra ball in the third match of the series between Australia and New Zealand, between November 27 and December 1.

The match will go ahead much to the delight of the CA chief executive James Sutherland, who has championed the concept for more than seven years. It will also be a source of rich dividends for the host broadcaster Channel Nine, whose chief executive David Gyngell expects television ratings and by extension advertising revenues far in excess of those offered for standard Test match days.

Ali and Finn to miss out hopefully, Rashid deserves a chance. Ali only averages 3 better than him in first class and Rashid is the better spinner.

Rashid deserves a go, especially we prepared flat pitches than turn late on. He's better than Ali as a spinner and can turn it both ways - even if he didn't have a great series after the 1st ODI.

Ali has a better record as both a batsman and a bowler over the last couple of years and I wouldn't be upset to see him start the series.

That said, I really want to see Rashid get a go at some point - not picking him in the West Indies was remarkably stupid and in doing so, they've left themselves in a pickle as he's going in to an Ashes series with no test experience. Also, the Aussies are going to relentlessly go after Moeen, so even if they don't pick Rashid for the first team, at least they're giving some thought to what they might do if they need to take Moeen out of the firing line.

Whichever spinner gets the nod is going to get a hard time as they will be sure to be targeted by the convict batters. Personally I feel Moeen still deserves to get the nod but it's good that England are getting Adil Rashid involved at the earliest opportunity.

I'm not sure I would have gone with Finn. From what I've seen of him in recent times his pace is noticeably down on what it was a few years ago and I feel Footitt would have been the better option.

Peter Moores is ridiculously successful at county level. You can't complain about that.

Indeed.

One of the journos on the Cricket Writers programme last Sunday labelled him the best ever County coach. Any County getting him on board as a coach should be well chuffed.

Eh? 16 games in the group stage. QF's aren't for a while yet.

Edit: Or did you mean yourself? That would make more sense haha
