Aborah is Ghanaian-Belgian and we've got that ex-Spurs youngster...can't be arsed to look up his name. Jenner is obviously one, signing Demouge would be weird now we have Jimmy and Jonny. Hoping one is a defender and as you said, we need a back-up keeper for Big Roy.
Having looked at Jenner briefly it seems like he must be way past it by now having been retired for a year? Unless he's coming in as a coach or something of course.

Stead is the signing of the summer so far. Amazed he's dropped to league 2, obviously notts county have offered him more money than league 1 teams were willing.

I thought you already had a top quality player of that type though? (Keep forgetting his name)

He's 31. Why the fuck did he retire? Should be no where near past it at that age.

Jon Stead is a very good signing for L2, but the thing with him is he is always blowing out of his arse after 60 minutes. He can't last a full 90 minutes.

Still, in L2 he is a cracking signing.

God knows, it's a weird one. Swerts is going to do some academy coaching, so I guess Jenner might as well. He's still only 31.

Three Dutch players are having medicals with us tomorrow, apparently. One will be Julian Jenner, the other two could be anyone. We've got Frank Demouge on trial, but he's another big striker and we've just signed Stead, and Stanley Aborah (ex Ajax and Gillingham, bizarrely) is training with us as well. Think we've got a couple of goalkeepers too, so will probably be one of those as cover.

STANLEY!

Yeah, he's shit. Good hair though.

Not sure I agree with your Twitter account labelling Stead a 'prolific goalscorer', good signing though.

We've got Will Hoskins and Alex Fisher on trial with us.

I know about Hoskins but nothing about Fisher. Stats don't look great. Mansfield fans?

In all honesty Fish always looked a little too lightweight for this level of football. He has a decent touch and a brain but I'd be hoping for better if I was an Exeter supporter.

Look at it this way, he was fifth choice striker last season for a team that simply couldn't score goals. Though I think he'd possibly perform better in a less physical division. That's probably why he had an okay record in Belgian and Italian football.

Got offered the assistant coach's job at Vitesse so retired to do that, then decided he'd made the wrong choice and joined some tinpot Hungarian side

There's quite a lot of footage on YouTube of his time in Belgium and he looks decent enough from a technical perspective but he doesn't look the strongest despite being quite tall.

We do tend to play on the ground more than some teams so he may suit us but I do agree he's an underwhelming name.

However a 6 month deal wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if we get Hoskins too. Fisher as our sole recruit up top would be disappointing

Originally went with 'Notts County sign Jon Stead, who scores a fair amount of goals but not that many' but it didn't have the same ring to it. Besides, not like club's to exaggerate is it 'xxxxxx sign HIGHLY REGARDED winger....(who was just released by a League 1 club)'

He seems a decent personality and a positive sort Moomin. He certainly struggled in our prehistoric footballing ethic and cut a frustrated figure because he just isn't the physical type, and without the true asset of pace it was always a peculiar fit to our side.

Perhaps for a better quality footballing team he will be a success, however, he just never convinced that he'd make an impression. Good luck to him though.

Alex Fisher is a good footballer, looked very intelligent in pre-season with his movement and awareness. He's quick and never gives up, good finisher with a good touch too i thought but for some reason it didnt work for him here. He did get knocked off the ball so easily and lost possession a lot, just don't think he adapted to english football at all, much used to a less physical game, he backed out of tackles etc a lot. He also got injured and never really got another chance so I'm glad he's got a chance elsewhere, i think he might come good, he's a really likeable friendly guy too..

Im surprised Fergus Bell isn't on trial too, they go everywhere together and his family is down that way. Also a good player i think should get another chance elsewhere/ we shouldn't of got rid of him, he could really play football! Good luck to both of them

Sorry. Is this coming from a fan of a team who strummed their todgers into dust over a 28 year old with one league goal to his name?

Sorry, who tried their best to sign him? along with chapman, westcarr and thomas and various other players in the league. I know people at Notts Tv and BBC East mids, The long list of players that rejected county for other clubs in this league is hilarious.

Also back to stead, 32, not wanted anywhere and hasn't passed a medical but has been announced as signed just screams desperate. I feel another Tranmere coming

To be fair RB, you have to take a recently non league Stags fans view seriously as they have personally experienced falling out the football league and struggling to get back up. Whereas we haven't...... ever, so know very little about it. It could very well be a tranmere situation.

I'm now officially changing my status to 'concerned'.

Keep me updated WH_Stag with any further thoughts.

Good luck to Karleigh at the Wombles.
As mentioned by one of my esteemed fellow cidereds, he really was a victim of unfortunate circumstances at City. Our first season in L1, he came in on loan (eventually turned permanent) and was really good and would have been our first choice CB at the start of this season had he not had a nasty injury on our South African tour. He was replaced by Aden Flint who took his opportunity big time.
I really do wish Karleigh all the best as he's a top lad and a very good defender particularly in L2. I'm surprised he didn't get a L1 move but fair play to the Wombles, you've got a good 'un in Karleigh.

Haha this is funny. Stead ripped us a new one at Meadow Lane and also scored a decent amount for Bradford on their late play off push. I can see how he's on his arse after 60 mins like was said tho.

Still think it's a terrific signing *waves penis*

Tom Elliott had a 50/50 split with Cambridge fans. Great guy but very lazy, doesn't score enough goals but is great at holding the ball up. I can't imagine you'll be chasing defenders down with him and the beast up top.
See, I don't believe he was lazy for us. Unfit and fragile definitely, which was why he didn't chase so much but was still shagged after an hour or so.

And yes, I know Money called him lazy once but that was just once, it wasn't a regular thing. He called Liam Hughes a c*** more than once and said numerous things in the press which he clearly doesn't believe. Therefore I don't always take what Money says as what he truly means.

I really really really do not understand the U's fans who think Elliott is lazy. It's not true, whatsoever.

You have a good player there unfortunately, he does seem to be made of glass.
He really divides opinion on our board, I can think of very few players who have done so like Elliott. Maybe Adam Marriott and Li Hughes occasionally. But Elliott tops then both for me. Either you think Elliott was lazy or you don't, there's no middle ground I guess.

That said I wouldn't have kept him as he's injured too often. Or to be more accurate, I'd have kept him as a sub but not to lead the line. So how Wimbledon intend to use him (as back up for big Bayo) should suit Elliott well.

Good signing for Wimbledon that. Thought he would of gone to a top half league one team. Very surprised he's dropped a level. Been very unlucky with us.

You're talking absolute crap, we tried to keep him but just couldn't do a deal. He's a very very good player at this level and anyone who thinks different is deluded.

Stead's a class signing for this level, his link up play is far too good for the clogger defenders in this league and he will chip in with 15 goals. I'm shocked he didn't go to a decent L1 club.
