Thoughts on Sam Ricketts, Mark? Should be signing for Cov
Swindon fans seemed to rate him from his short time there, but whenever I seen him play I thought he was pretty shit. Had an absolute shocker against us when we beat them 3-0 as well.

He'll fit right in then

It's when clubs spend big without seemingly have made any sales beforehand that look stranger - i.e Derby. Though I expect them to sell one of their better players, surely.
You'd think so, but we most likely get the most revenue in the Championship, excluding parachute payments. We have 23k season ticket sales and will get consistent 29/30k for the season, bringing in plenty alone. Add countless sponsors, like 700k a year from the stadium naming and also that July 1st was a new financial period then we're a lot better off than what most other clubs would be in this situation.

But yeah, we'll probably sell one or two to balance the books.

Barely bought anyone for years didn't you? You were even loaning Lee Johnson off us at one point

Apart from George Thorne last season, but even then he was only round 2M or so.

Oh, and Conor Sammon for 1.2M

We've all done it, close to a million for David Clarkson was particularly bad on our part

But yeah exactly, so you could say it's about time you spent a bit of money for a club of your size. Probably don't even need to sell anyone to balance the books

Amazing to get Tom Ince permanently!

Jason Shackell is next on the list...

If anyone saw my post before this, I've jumped the gun.

Welcome Tom Thorpe.

Tom Thorpe is a very good signing for Rotherham, although I did think the same about Swift 12-months ago.

At under-21 level, he pissed all over Blackett, McNair...etc, but was often overlooked. Man Utd fans that have watched him really like him. If not for the stockroom of centre backs at Derby, I'd have had him here in a heartbeat.

Swift was still a little too young and wasn't ready for first team championship football.

Stockroom of centre backs? Give us Rawson if you want mate.

A couple of months ago I would've had Rotherham being likely to go down but their recruitment has been impressive so far.

Not a weak team in the league, gonna be tough for us promoted sides.

He's been training with our first team in pre-season, but with Keogh, Buxton, Albentosa, Shotton, Pearce and possibly Shackell ahead of him I don't see him getting much game time.

I'd say we've got quite a few players who would be available for loan and decent for Championship sides.

Rawson, Ssewankambo, Hanson, Calero, Thomas and Bennett could all well be available for loan and decent in the Championship. With young players it's hard to tell. However, Calero was the best midfielder I saw in the U21 Premier League tier two last season. He's a magician. I'd love to see him get a regular run in the Championship, in the right side I think he would do damage.

Hanson and Thomas are England U20 regulars, so I imagine they will be on the radar of a few sides. Rawson proved himself at Rotherham and Ssewankambo was playing first team football in Eredivisie last season before coming in getting injured and playing for our U21s.

Bennett had a torrid time at Bradford, came back to Derby and did this:
(second goal). He's always had potential, but he needs a platform to prove it now - badly.

If we haven't signed anyone by this time next week I'm going to be incredibly worried.

We need to get a move on soon.

Apparently made a £3m bid for Slovenian striker Robert Beric.

He looks an absolute machine.

Cant speak for last season as he didn't play but the year before he was great for us. He's a very good leader and will help organise and put some backbone into your defence. The only issue is he is getting on a bit and he ain't too fast, alsong as you have some defender with pace next to him he'll be fine for League 1.

Been linked with Joe Bennett today.
Wouldn't be a bad signing. Bit suspect with his positioning but very tidy on the ball and reasonably good going forward. Championship is definitely his level.

On a related note, we've replaced Bennett by at last landing a permanent left-back - some Cameroon international called Gaëtan Bong. Left Wigan after a short-term contract last season, but we've decided he's worth a 2-year deal. We shall see..

Craig Mackail-Smith. On trial at Luton.

Not a trial so much as a him keeping fit while we try to convince him to sign for us. He's good mates with our manager and fitness coach so they've invited him on our pre-season training camp. According to reliably ITK types on our message board, he's had offers from clubs higher up the pyramid already and rejected them as he doesn't want to move too far north. We've tentatively talked terms but don't consider ourselves favourites to get him at this point.

Guess if there's one manager who'd know how best to use him (aside from Darren Ferguson), it's John Still. Such a waste of four years for all concerned, his Albion stint.

Wolves signed Connor Coddy today, can't say I know a lot about him but more Huddersfield fans seem to be annoyed he has left than those saying great we got £2million plus off those Orange wankers.

Pleased we got a CM though, hope this is to go with KMac. The rumour of him going to Fulham for £1.5 million is surely untrue, wouldn't question KJ for selling our best player (as he pretty much does what the fuck he wants regardless) however for that sort of money we would be crazy to accept.

Crazy how much this league's changed even in the short time since we've been gone. Everyone seems to be throwing around millions for fun

It's not everyone. It's the parachutists with their expectations or gliding effortlessly back into the PL - the Promised Land - and Leeds and Derby. Doesn't mean it's going to work for them. Look at Fulham and Cardiff last season. Hopeless. Like watching two Ferraris reverse out over those one-way spikes at a car park.

I liked Coady, but turning £350k to £2million after 45 games is top business by us.

What you'll get with Coady is simple, effective football who'll give you 110% everytime. A leader on the pitch and will captain a club very soon. Wish him well, had a solid season last season.
