Love all this Daggers getting relegated rubbish anyone who has a brain or any sort of knowledge of football would understand we have a better team compared to some teams. I'd say about 8-9 teams look worse than us on paper.

Normally D&R and Accrington are relegated before the season starts. People never learn.

There is a lot happening at Oxford at the moment and it's pretty much all good.

We had new owners who only came in exactly a year ago. It left us totally unprepared for the season ahead and we consequently struggled early on. This was due to Appleton inheriting a squad that finished the previous season abysmally, that was further depleted by departures as contracts had been allowed to run out and some players left, and we had to get in a number of short term loans just to put a side out.

Through the season we improved as Appleton got to grips with what was needed in this league and finished the season very strongly. We were hampered by an appalling playing surface at home, but have had a new state of the art pitch laid this summer, and London Welsh have fucked off, so it won't get wrecked this term. We've made a number of good signings, all targeted and acquired fairly early in the close season, and this week have had further new investment from the guy that owns Bridle Insurance and is a major player in Go Compare and Hastings Insurance. He's a lifelong fan and his family's wealth is in excess of £100m. Oh, and he owns Eastleigh FC too, at the moment!

Season ticket sales are up, and for the first time in years, there's a buzz about the place. I think this could be our year.

Which is probably the kiss of death...........

Every fucker thinks that they'll be safe this season don't they, we can't all be mid-table in case people hadn't noticed. Mansfield won't be flirting with the play-offs ffs, what sort of tinpot league do you think this is...

Congats on winning the title, good work indeed Fedora :2thumb:

And thank you for having faith in the mighty U's! I can't see it happening, but this is football after all so who knows? I don't think anyone predicted Burton for the title last year.

Looks like you are becoming a feeder club to Eastleigh then!

No, that's already happened! They had six or seven ex Oxford players last season, and an ex Oxford player as manager.

What I expect to happen is that he will relinquish his stake in Eastleigh at some point. It's telling that he's taken a 10% shareholding in Oxford, which is the maximum allowed by league regulations whilst owning/controlling another club.

The biggest thing that could, and possibly will, happen is for us to acquire the ground from our slum landlord kassam.

Might lock this thread. It's 4th July lads. Take a long look at yourselves before trying to actually guess in what order all these teams will finish with over a month till the first game.

Dags just seem to have lost a few good players and have been slow to strengthen compared to some teams they were scrapping against last year (Mansfield, Pools etc).

Scrapping against, we finished a shade under 60 points last season and was safe with about 4 games to play - bloody cheek ;)

That's easy, it will still be Tisdale.

Well there's still a month until the 1st game for them to bring in some good players, it's way too early to predict who they will sign.

Still would have thought this would be something you'd do like a week before the season starts rather than 5 weeks before it starts (well 4 and a half).

There's 3 ashes test matches to be had before

Even at this early pre season stage you get the feeling of your clubs intentions , plus a bit of reading between the lines from other posters/ message boards , you can have a stab at guessing , I doubt delaying will change many minds , of course you can delay as long as possible if you wish .... but it is only a bit of fun , and you don't want to spoil that do you ?

I won't give my final prediction till the 7th August.

But the two clear favourites for automatic promotion are Luton and Portsmouth. Wycombe will do well again, but they need key players to stay fit, not sure I'm convinced about Oxford as they have Appleton in charge. Cambridge have built a solid side IMO and will top 7 at the very least - Plus Richard Money has got out of this league before with Walsall.

Exeter will be the suprise package, good manager, made some clever signings and no hangover from a 12 hour flight back from Brazil to suffer from like last year!

For relegation, you have to look at Newport and say they will be struggling this year. Not sure who the other will be, but I wouldn't be suprised if it was us.

The team who have a huge question mark on them are Notts County IMO, no idea what they will do.

If you wish to amend the predictions you have already made then feel free to do so as long as it is prior to August 8th
but LET ME KNOW by posting a comment.

I have just amended my predictions - I have swapped round Plymouth and Daggers.

Hm, nobody fancies us much, do they? Me neither, but I don't think we'll get relegated. I'll be waiting a little while before making any detailed predictions though...

The how come you didn't know Carlisle would survive all along last season?
Because even when you're from the future, there's always that fear that someone or something can change the past.
