Still worried about the size of our squad too. We must have about 30 there at the moment, albeit with 5 (I think) on the transfer list and a couple of first year pro's

Delighted with the signing of Danny Green. Fantastic creativity brought in with him and Paddy. Also slyly enjoyed the no mentioning of the franchise in the article. Bit tinpot, but fk 'em - shouldn't be acknowledged.

One more to go for us, CMS hopefully.

With the additional of Craig Mackail-Smith, we are indeed done in my opinion.

As for squad size:
33 professionals on the books
5 are transfer listed
5 you'd class as developmental/first year pros (King, Trotman, Onyemah, Galliford, Banton)

Orient are signing John Akinde? That would be a big loss for you so close to the season.
I think they've probably signed his younger brother Sam Akinde by mistake.

Don't think we will be done if you believe the ITK types on Outlaws. Mark O'Brien coming in supposedly which you would think means the end of the road for either Wilkinson or Sumo, probably the latter which will be a sad day  Lewis Gibbons still seems to think he's signing for us too, although I assume he'd be development squad only initially if that goes through.

Of the listed players, I'm sure Franks, Lacey and Parry will leave one way or another. I suspect Curtley Williams and Matt Robinson may settle for loan deals, as Still implied that the door was still open to either one further down the line if they could prove themselves.

Then there will be at least two departures from the not transfer listed people by the sounds of it - obviously Jake is strongly rumoured as one of those. Looking at the squad now, you'd guess that he might well not be the last midfielder shown the door (if the rumour is true). Drury was also rumoured not to have traveled to Portugal with the rest of the squad, and we know there was an issue there towards the end of the season.

I was a bit too subtle. One of their fans is wishfully editing Wikipedia pages of other clubs' players.

So the "shit, no hopers" bit still applies.

Our signings have been pants, but we have 4 players on high wages. This season we will be lucky to stay up again.

HG has a new contender in Mr Misery Guts! Try living with £12m loan to council and a mothballed stand with mystery consortium who could be good or very bad.

Stanley Aborah might be the number 10. Once played 13 minutes for Gillingham in 2010 but was released as he was too unfit coming off a long-term injury - and has since had an interesting 5 years interrailing between European countries. Apparently he's been the best player in training so far so...dunno. At least we're not being boring and signing 'solid' League 2 players I guess. Sounds like the centre-back, right-back and striker will all be British too, which puts my mind at rest a bit, we're not being too risky with this whole European flair thing.

Sounds about right, you need a blend otherwise you basically chuck all your eggs in one basket which is presumably not what we want to do. Would be pleased with Hoyte. Decent player. No idea who the CB is

Looks like Jake Howells isn't in Portugal then. Can't see Andy Drury either, who was also rumoured not to have traveled a few days ago.

Craig Mackail-Smith is definitely there though. Let's hope he's making some friends...

McGeehan's on the half pints so I'm thinking it's probably not going to be much of a session.

Which is probably why Paddy McCourt didn't bother turning up...

He's just out of shot, on the floor hugging an empty bottle of Frosty Jacks.

Hasn't Scott Doe been an excellent League Two centre half for years now? I know money talks but Eastleigh? Seriously.

Think Eastleigh might be a surprise candidate to go up this season, have made some good signings in areas they struggled last season. Mind you, they still have Richard Hill as manager so...

Surely any team with a budget like theirs at that level wouldn't be a "surprise candidate" for promotion? They should be nailed on for play-offs at absolute worst.

I see what you're saying, but amongst the Grimsby/Tranmere discussion they've sort of been forgotten. A bit like FGR were sort of 'favourites' last year but the talk of them doing well this year is far quieter. I think they've made some smart signings (especially if Doe follows)

I'm not talking a Macclesfield-esque surprise like they were for most of last season, but as I say some are assuming its a two-horse race at most.

Fair enough. I reckon a few will finish above Tranmere, can't for the life of me see them winning it. Wrexham fans seem pretty down on their chances but I'd bet on them finishing higher than Tranmere at least (Mills >>> Brabin). Mangan's good, but he's overrated based on half a decent season at Shrewsbury. Did bugger all at Forest Green, couldn't even make our bench in our Conference winning season.

Like you I have little confidence Brabin will actually go and deliver promotion, failed at you lot and Cambridge. Not sure Wrexham's squad is anywhere near as strong as Tranmere's at the moment though, we'll see come August I guess.

According to the York Press we are close to signing a right back/wing back, and it probably isn't Bradley Halliday who we had on loan from Boro last season. No clue who it might be.

I would imagine that would be us done, unless we can offload one or more of transfer listees Marvin McCoy, Femi Ilesanmi and Lindon Meikle. Come on guys, fill your boots.

As well as Billy Bodin (ex Torquay - Winger/Striker) we've announced our trialists as:

Jennison Myrie Williams (ex Port Vale winger)
Ian McGloughin (ex MK Dons keeper) and
Toby Ajala (ex Torquay winger)

JMW is the only one i'm altogether familiar with.

I need someone in time for the autumn, who's really quick around the garden picking up leaves as they fall. Will you take a booklet of Green Shield stamps for Lindon?
