Fulham player relieved to swap Steve Evans at Rotherham for Kit Symons

In his first major interview since joining Fulham, Ben Pringle drew a contrast as wide as the Grand Canyon between his last gaffer and the one he has inherited.
The new Whites midfielder reckons he’s in clover compared with life under Steve Evans at Rotherham after a torturous season in which the Millers escaped Championship relegation by the skin of their teeth.

Pringle exercised his out of contract status to join Whites and savour life under Kit Symons.

The 26-year-old Geordie pulled no punches revealing what he left behind at the New York Stadium.

Pringle said: “The gaffer here seems very calm and likes to think about things and do them in his own way, which isn’t ranting and raving.

“Whereas Steve Evans is in your face shouting and swearing and all the rest of it. If you don’t get it done; you don’t play kind of thing.

“I said that when I first met Kit; having a laugh and a joke about going from one experience to another.”

Pringle had a corker of a game against Whites at the Cottage last season for a 1-1 draw , (see gallery) and admitted he was playing for himself as much as beleaguered Rotherham after Evans tried to offload the winger to Millwall in January.
It made Pringle realise in no uncertain terms his time was up in south Yorkshire.

“On the Monday Steve Evans said I’m going to get a new deal for you,” explained Pringle.

“By Tuesday night they’d accepted a bid by Millwall and he was telling me to go, which was a bit strange as they were rock-bottom and he was trying to sell me Millwall as an exciting proposition.” 

Fast forward to last month and Symons headed off the likes of Bolton, Leeds and Ipswich to capture Pringle.

“The size of the club and players, and Fulham ambitions made them a lot bigger than the other clubs that were interested,” he added.

The mans got no class, lost all my respect for him.

He's quickly forgot how Evans turned his career around and plucked him from our reserves.

Seems he is a lifelong Man Utd fan. Made all the more surprising because he's actually from that part of the world, rather than Pusan, KL or Lusaka where most Man Utd fans live.

8 goals in 17 games for Bolton isn't shabby at all but 3 in 21 for Cardiff most certainly is. That's straight out of Leon Clarke's style of football.
The problem we have is that we have two very good strikers in Afobe and Dicko and anyone coming in may well be getting a few games here and there and 7 minutes as a sub on a November Tuesday night in Preston. Third tier quality strikers like Le Fondre, Mason and the like may be the best we can expect. Current and former PL strikers will probably go to pretty much anyone but us right now.

The problem we have is that we have two very good strikers in Afobe and Dicko and anyone coming in may well be getting a few games here and there and 7 minutes as a sub on a November Tuesday night in Preston. Third tier quality strikers like Le Fondre, Mason and the like may be the best we can expect. Current and former PL strikers will probably go to pretty much anyone but us right now.

ALF shouldn't play second fiddle to anybody.

Consider his PL record too.

Unfortunately Pringle is never very complimentary about his former bosses, he said pretty much the same thing about Andy Scott (who described him as nothing but a 5 a side player).
He has forgotten the SE put him straight into the first team and gave him three fantastic seasons, funny the SE way didn't bother him then.
It will never occur to him that SE has improved his career and in turn given him the platform to earn probably more than he is worth at Fulham.

It says much about him that he thinks Fulham are bigger than Bolton, Leeds and Ipswich.

I thank him for the good times he gave in a red shirt, at times he was exceptional. others not so good but he did well to rise up the leagues and take the various steps up.

TBH I always liked him but he does though come across a a stereotypical footballer in the brain department.

It's a shame we don't have Sam Vokes anymore, I felt he always played well as the 'super sub' and scored a couple of crucial goals for us too. Lets just get Andy Keogh back from Aus ... :ohn:
