Well done to both of you, but especially to Lee for winning. Both losing their chosen genres there was a bit of a turnout as the one of the main reasons you were both in the final was that you were generally winning all the ones you were choosing. Also got to say that I would have gone for Blur Country House as my '95 Britpop tune. Was saying to Veggie in our PM that even though I didn't particularly like a fair few of Lee's tunes (not saying I thought they were all crap at all though, far from it), he played the game exceptionally well. Some posters *cough*Natch*cough*, played it terribly by just going for tunes that they really like without seemingly fully considering their mass appeal. Merits in both ways. If I was playing I like to think I'd have tried to find a balance. Anyway, thanks to all of you who took part but playing and voting.

Congrats Lee, really solid picks in the final and you deserve the win.

Thanks for running this, SoC, I've really enjoyed it. Listening to genres outside my normal comfort zone has definitely been a positive experience, so thanks to everyone who participated and opened my ears to some new music.

Completely agree there. I never thought I'd be browsing K-Pop songs or Happy House music trying to find something that had some slight appeal.

Although, I tried to find tunes that I thought would be fairly popular, I did largely go with things that I like. I have a very odd music taste which ranges from chilling out to Sinatra to a bit of Motown to a bit of current pop and then I like a bit of dance music here and there as well. Soul is my absolute favourite though. I could listen to Luther Vandross on repeat for hours.

I'm a bit disappointed Chubby Checker didn't do better but that aside, no real complaints. I thought Common People was an inspired choice by the way as I'd have backed Wonderwall against most others. Hard luck with some of the other ones there Veggie although I'm not sure you deserve it after picking Usher. ;)

Thanks to Son of Cod for running this also. I've really enjoyed spending some free time browsing different songs and finding some excellent songs I'd forgotten all about. Accidentally restumbling back across Mike and the Mechanics in particular, superb.

Be good to do another one of these in the future when it's fresh again.

Just caught up with this. Well done Lee! I really enjoyed this and found some decent tracks in genres I would never have really considered before especially that garage tune. :)

I wanted to find new tracks I'd not really heard before which was probably my downfall. I didnt want to pick anything to obvious like Johnny Cash etc. Although my subsequent pick on that genre was pretty shocking.
