Be interested to see what happens with McCall now, will Rangers stick with him or look elsewhere?

I didn't watch after seeing the score.

In a way its probably for the best with Rangers, they are a complete shower both on and off the pitch and they really need to go back into the top flight in a better condition, they'd probably had to mass spend in summer to get anywhere close to competing which would put them right in the real crap.

They need to clear the decks though if they can, their players are so horrendously crap for the money they are on, should get someone as manager who knows how to get them battling..................the most worrying thing if you were a Rangers fan is the sheer lack of care or passion.

I think they should yes, they just brought him in too late this season.

Fantastic that Motherwell beat them though to stay up and keep that lot in the Championship another season, bra stuff! :D

for the genuine Scottish football fans here, I know Rangers staying down is what you all will laugh at as they are to you lot the Man Utd, etc, etc of here.

but with that said do you think Scottish Football will struggle with them failing to go up, as I always believed the view was the prem didn't stop them dropping out in the view it'd just be a 3 year gap......now its 4 at least, maybe more.

Good grief, we really are a shambles on and off the pitch.

Just watched the highlights and the goals were soft.

Not sure how we'll react to another season in the championship. Hopefully the board weren't basing their finances on the assumption we would get promoted! The squad needs a big clear out too. Massive summer for the club.

yep I was surprised how bad your team is, but I think some of it may be similar to Leyton Orients problems.....paying players so vastly over what they are worth they have lost any passion or care.

I felt that watching first leg, you get 49,000 and a chance for promotion and most of your starting 11 never break out of walking pace.

Standard of football may not have been great but Motherwell fans can teach some of us how to enjoy a great escape.

The fact that the legislation arising from the Taylor Report didn't apply to Scotland helps as well.
Is this a return to the "Jungle?"

I don't think legislation would prevent England from adopting safe standing if the appetite was there for change. It's perfectly safe, as Germany has already proven and Scotland will soon.

There is no actual reason to prevent Clubs from offering their fans a choice. It's not like Celtic need to do something to fill their stadium either, but they have listened to what their fans want and so have the authorities, so they should be congratulated on this.

I think that's a good appointment. Better than going down the ex player route again, although David Weir can offer that. They join McCall, McDowell and McCoist on the wagebill for June though. Truly mental money been spent over the last three seasons to achieve nothing.

Bigger news was Derek McInnes and his assistant signing 4 year deals - lots of positivity around Aberdeen at the moment.

Has this story gone managed to go completely unmentioned (and if so how)? Pretty much the only interesting thing to happen in Scottish football in... well, ever. Think Kingsley's pretty awesome, myself.

The sweepstake for how long it would take, after Rangers failed to be promoted, for a reconstruction to be proposed - was ended after 37 days.

SPFL Chief Executive: http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport...restructure-may-be-only-way-forward.131193397

No-one won, as everyone went for an answer that was within 2 weeks.

The next debate is how long Nadir Ciftci will be banned for - he was charged for biting, but has since signed for Celtic. Suarez and Labadie were given 10 games for their first offences (both did it again and got even longer bans for a second offence). Current opinion is that he will receive less than a 10 game ban.

I have been impressed by Dundee in the transfer market recently. I think they will be in the top half and maybe even pushing for Europe as Cally Thistle and Dundee United are a lot weaker.

2 interesting games today. Hearts, in their first game back in the top flight, beat St Johnstone 4-3, having been 2-0 and 3-1 up, then going back to 3-3, getting the winner only a minute later. Hard to say where they will finish, but it should be comfortably mid-table as they look to have bought well.

Aberdeen beat Dundee United 1-0 with a late goal. It wasn't a great game, but that suited Aberdeen who had an 11 hour flight back across 5 time zones on Friday and they rested half the team that played on Thursday. Aberdeen have strengthened the key weakness from last season, which is in goal. Danny Ward is a massive step up on Langfield and Brown, and Graeme Shinnie is an absolute steal on a free transfer. Those 2 additions, adding Quinn for depth and not losing anyone over the summer is a perfect window so far. Depending on how the rest of the European run goes, Langfield and Shankland are meant to be off to St Mirren and there may be another arrival. One more attacking player and they can run Celtic close in my opinion.

Good summation, I also think (and hope) Dundee will be comfortable this season, Hartley has them playing some decent stuff and he knows the type of player that suits his style. Utd I agree could struggle a bit more this season as they have been selling too many of their best players and you can't always rely on bringing through youth. Hearts will be fine too and I think they could be a surprise in the league this year and could be in the top four I reckon. Not fond of Aberdeen, but I hope for the good of the league that they can put more of a challenge on Celtic this season and not let those sods win the league too early.

I don't hold much hope for Thistle tbh, Dundee look solid, Hearts will do fine. It'll be between Motherwell, Thistle, killie and Ross County, maybe the likes of accies and st johnstone pulled into it, but i expect both will have enough. Long old season..

Looking at how Hamilton results after Neil left, I would have put them as favourites to go down. The new player-manager doesn't seem to have it in him to be a successful manager.

If I had to stick my money where my mouth is right now, just as a bit of fun:

Celtic
Aberdeen
Dundee
Dundee Utd
Hearts
Ross County
Inverness
St Johnstone
Motherwell
Kilmarnock
Partick Thistle
Hamilton

Celtic, then Aberdeen is nailed on. I would back Dundee and Ross County to over perform, whilst Cally Thistle and Dundee Utd have lost a lot of players. St Johnstone could be anywhere in mid table, as could Hearts really, but I think their youngsters, plus promising signings, will be enough for the top half. The bottom four I am slightly guessing, but I also fear for Hamilton.

All in all, how nice to have an unpredictable league where 3rd-12th is up for grabs. I would love Aberdeen to win it, but I don't think Celtic will drop enough points against the rest of the league.

The BBC reckon you'll finish 4th as well. Your lot looked very impressive at Killie.
