Don't generally bet on flat racing but as I'm not around for the rest of the week I've had a few today...

15:05 Buratini
15:40 Shamal Wind
16:20 Belardo
17:00 Lycidas

Got an EW treble of Buratini, Shamal Wind and Lycidas as well.

Did anyone see the Cecil/Frankel programme on Channel 4 the other night?

Jesus, brought a few tears to the eye! Two absolute legends of the sport.

Had a dabble on Moore for SPOTY earlier - if tears it up today he may get a look in. Nobody in that market stands out at all. Good EW value in my eyes.

As for the bets, had a Ryan Moore Yankee + Illuminate in the first.

Anyone do pick 6 on here with Sporting Life? Basically the horse racing equivalent of football's super 6.

My 6 this afternoon finished 1st, 1st, 3rd, 3rd, 5th, 5th - fairly close. Had a separate EW on four of those in an acca and 3 came in...annoying.

2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd in my Pick 6 this afternoon.

Had separate money on a 33/1 shot at Newbury which came 2nd at 3:45 which was a bit annoying. Good form ahead of it, surprised at such long odds.

There's a good cash back offer on at Bet Bright if you're horse finishes second in the 19:15 at Down Royal. BetBright will refund your stake as a free bet - you can get up to £25 back depending on your initial stake.

Very good racing at Goodwood and Galway today, as well as other tracks around the country. It's Beverley though for me with a little fancy in the first race. Petrify has been running well down at Chepstow and surely his turn can't be far away being dropped into a seller for the first time. 4-1 seems a decent price considering it was favourite this morning and now there are four non-runners.

If it's Goodwood, then that usually means keeping a sneaky eye out for a trainer with only a handful of horses, but a very good trainer (and lovely bloke) who ALWAYS targets Goodwood with one of his charges.
The trainer is, of course, Brian Gubby and his horse this year is Kinglami who runs tomorrow (Wednesday) in the 5.25 and is a WHOPPING 20-1.

First of all, for such a small yard, Gubby has a pretty impressive record. In the last 4 years he has produced:
2014 - 5 winners from only 21 runners (24%)
2013 - 3 winners from only 18 runners (17%)
2012 - 2 winners from 26 runners (8%) (Bad for him...)
2011 - 4 winners from 23 runners (17%)

and so far this year he's had 1 winner from only 4 runners (24%). I'm sure you'll agree that most trainers would be happy of such a good strike rate.

So this year, Kinglami is his sole representative to keep the Gubby-Goodwood flag flying high. The 5.25 is an incredibly tough race, as it should be here for the money, but something has to win and you know for sure that Gubby's will be running it's heart out.

Kinglami has some course form which is always important here. He has won over 6f and 7f and although the Racing Post seem to think 6f suits better, I don't think that 7f here will be a problem, and he has a jockey on that knows him. He's also on a tough mark but has had a nice 8-week break for Gubby to get him ready and finely-tuned for what will obviously be his main target for the year (and by that I mean the trainer as well as the horse).

Hey Shrimpurh, I hope you backed this each-way (I perhaps should have suggested that but assumed any followers would at those odds).

Ran a stormer as Gubby's always do at Goodwood. Hope you got a few quid.

Fancy another at a big price today. Miss Mayfair in the 4.30 at Stratford, so had a few bob each-way at 16-1. Ran nearly three weeks ago at Southwell, when she ran well enough until tiring towards the end. Considering that was her first run for 18 months, I'd say that was understandable that she got tired.
Now she's had that run which will have done her the world of good and stretched her muscles, she could well put up an improved display today. I certainly hope so anyway.

Course I was each-way on a 20/1 - happy with that result, you sounded like you knew what you was talking about lol

Midnight Sequel might take some beating in that race

You could be right, but I'm not quite sure that Midnight Sequel has deserved to have gone up a whopping 16lb since her first handicap run over hurdles - especially having never won over them.

Well the mare ran well for a long way again but it seemed that she also needed this run too, by the way she tired at the end. It's understandable as she had a long time off and those two runs will surely have done her good and she has to be a winner waiting to happen. I'll keep an eye out for her.

1 for today in the form of Java Rose in the 4.30 at Bangor.
Nice mare who's fairly consistent and those two runs this year should have her cherry ripe for today. 12-1 looks a good each-way bet.

Java Rose ran a really good race yesterday and rewarded our each-way bet with a small profit finishing 2nd.

For today - the first race at Doncaster (1.45) sees Olly Stevens send KEMSING up from Surrey. A race for two year olds and there are a few in here with previous runs under their belts, which could be tough to beat. Stevens still sends KEMSING up nonetheless and his record when he sends them there is pretty impressive: 3 winners from only 10 runners but even better with young horses - 2 winners from only 4 runners. KEMSING is currently 22-1 in places and has been slightly drifting due to one of the others being quite well backed. I think KEMSING is well worth a few quid each-way.

Hmm, Kemsing was pretty rubbish after all that.
Small go on Hughes on his final ride on Fox Trotter. 10-1 worth a few quid I reckon for him to bow out in style.

Going to have a little bash on a 16-1 shot today at Chepstow.
Dutch Falcon 3.40. Not raced for a good few weeks and dropped quite significantly in the weights. The break might have freshened him up.
