To be fair, there has been over 50mm of rain in one day over large parts of Southern England. Why play a match now that will leave your pitch compromised for the whole season?

Ha, I only just realised. It's been fairly cloudy but T-shirt weather up here, and when it's like that I assume the skies are blue in the south. If pitches are becoming waterlogged in the southeast then by rule of thumb you can assume the trig point at Sca Fell is under water.

Just a move by the club I think to increase revenue in the early season. Away support at this level is vastly different to the premier and ths has been mangifed by the fact we dont host either FC United or Stockport till the final month of the season!

May also help to bring in a few new fans.

So far this summer Carshalton Athletic have had delays on their 3G pitch due to forgetting to put down underlay and a proper drainage system. Last night they had their big opening game against the local big club (Sutton United), and the floodlights failed.

Well half our floodlights went pop on Tuesday but we finished the game.

It appears that when the pitch was redone and drainage re-dug they have severed a cable.

If we have to rip up this beautiful new pitch to fix it then I'll probably cry.
