Ryan Brobbel linked with us. Ex Middlesbrough winger. He's been on trial at neighbours Torquay and played against us on Friday.

He's had loan spells at hartlepool and York. Any good?

Bidding wars aren't an actual thing. It's funny how fans think football works sometimes.

No, I didn't say there was a bidding war. I said we are trying to start one.

I don't think we will sell to a team in the same league as us. Not being irk I have no idea how much we are holding out for but the rumour is we turned down 50k from Millwall.
Personally would prefer him to stay but beggars can't be choosers and we certainly seem to be beggared...or should that be a U?

We had four trialists play for us against Tottenham yesterday - a turkish keeper (no idea on a name), Jamie McCombe, Jack Jebb and Willie Dyer.

I have no idea what he's like now but back in his Bristol City days McCombe looked half decent, won me a little bit of money on one occasion too. Dyer performed well and we need a left back so could be worth looking at. No idea why Jebb's back at the club, we don't need another central midfielder, would much rather spend the budget elsewhere and give the likes of Conlon and Gorman more game time.

McCombe is the kind of player we need, as opposed to McLeod.

Heard a new name for our right back dilemma - ex-Ipswich man Elliott Hewitt.

Hewitt would be a very good signing.

Indeed. Another attacking full back though, we're certainly gonna be interesting to watch.

Robinson will do very well for you if he can stay clear of the usual injuries. Very odd decision of Pompey to let him go but I guess it was to pave the way for Matt Clarke, as Robinson was on good money.

Very odd indeed. I've only seen Clarke in the match vs Coventry and whilst he had a good game, I'd much rather have kept Robinson.

With the black and white stripes and hordes of attackers - could be very Newcastle United circa 1997

Morecambe are supposedly taking Jack Ryan from us on loan.

19yr old striker, was on loan at Stockport last season.

I quite liked Brobbel, surprised we aren't interested as he single-handedly ripped Scunthorpe to shreds in both games last season [edit: that should be the season before last of course...] so Wilcox must think he's a genius. Good going forward, but doesn't track back enough and is a bit lightweight, seemed to be the general consensus from our lot.

Brobbel was on trial at Tranmere a couple of weeks ago I think, unless it was a different one.

We're making another wave of signings this week, 2 defenders and a striker at least

Said it earlier on in pre season but it all seems a bit scattergun from County, seems as though you've signed a lot of players for the sake of it. It doesn't look like Moniz or your management didn't have a clear plan for the summer and a lot of panic buying is happening. You've signed some decent players but the chunk of your signings have been in pre season and you're going into the season still making a bunch of key signings which can't be good?

Don't want to look obsessed with you lot, but although we might be need depth in some areas Murray has only signed one player since pre season started and he played in the first friendly and only missed the first week. We're going into the season with a competent squad and not really needing any key players despite a complete overhaul of the squad like yourselves. You could well have a good season but are any of your fans not worried?

I don't think its scatter gun at all - Notts have simply missed out on multiple first choice targets.

We have struggled in two places we see as key - centre forward and centre back. I think our other signings have so far been ok.

Also too much is made at times about a settled squad. In our Munto season we signed plenty of people late on

We've aimed too high in a couple of positions that's all. It's not scattergun, that's what Derry did. Moniz has clearly got an idea of exactly what he wants because he's said the same things all summer - as I said though, I think we've gone all giddy chasing bigger names and now things are a bit tetchy. It's nowhere near as bad as some Notts fans would have you believe though, we could field a good team tomorrow - expectations are just high which has created this assumption that certain players we currently have aren't good enough, when they probably are. You can't go and construct the perfect 26 man squad from the ground up in 2 months but we appear to be trying to do just that.

Hollis being the case in point who is perfectly good for league one. I am not sure why he became the scapegoat.

Where's Adams? Why do we keep persisting with trialist left backs?

Hearing talk of a certain Alan Sheehan returning as he's surplus to requirements since Bradford signed Nathan Clarke. Can't see it happening myself with the way he left us and the fact we already have 2 left backs but I know he's been at the club for talks.

Looks like we will be offering a contract to Paul Corry after he was released from Sheffield Wednesday. Played a few games for Carlisle last season according to wiki. Hes been solid enough in pre season when called upon, will be back up to Byrom.

I'm still not convinced CMS is as good a signing as some are making out but we'll see. He's probably lost his edge having being injured a lot. Could end up being a fantastic signing, but I think this is probably about his level now.

I agree with this. If Luton can get him back to the form he was in 4 years ago he's an excellent signing but 4 years is a long time. Not a horrific signing, But I certainly think Luton have signed better than CMS this Summer.

I've not really followed this saga over the Summer so Luton fans, How has he done during PS?

Michael Nelson signed up.

Won't be playing more than a game a week and probably won't occupy a starting berth for the time being.

He can't be as bad as some Cambridge fans have said!

Not a signing but Matt Blair who has been out injured and told to prove his fitness before contract talks was in our team photo yesterday so hopefully we keep him.

Only scored once, although he's been our best player in pretty much every game he's featured in by all accounts.

I don't think he'll be as prolific as he once was, but I do think he'll add a lot more to us than just goals and will be a key player for us.

I'm seeing that you are looking for an experienced CB according to PC. Why did you let Robinson go then?

Lots of talk on our forums but nothing more than rumours atm.

Which is the main Pompey forum? I've found a few but none of them seem to have overly much traffic considering the size of the club.

Rumours going round we're in for Matt Tubbs but it all depends on Ruben Reid going to Pompey. I would be absolutely delighted with him if I'm honest.
