Frustrating to concede twice from set pieces, and even more so given those 2 corners were pretty much the sum total of what they created up until the final minutes.

Then from 0-2 against a well organised and streetwise team like Burnley it's going to be a tough ask, and the second half was pretty forgettable. Williams incredibly unlucky his effort hit the post, if that goes in it may have been different, but as it was Kodjia's goal at the end was very much a consolation. Frustrating afternoon

Played well today, especially first half. Shouldn't ever be conceding from 2 corners though. Bobby excellent again and I'll be disappointed if Freeman takes his place in the side.

Oh and Ryan Fredericks, you were fucking shite anyway :fing:

It's getting painful to watch. Cutting teams open time and time again and don't take the chances. They they go up thekther end and score with their first two efforts. Their pretty much only efforts.

No one post the stats of that first half please. I don't think I can take it.

Results will come, just a tad soul destroying seing us dominate and then concede silly goals

That was so frustrating.

Absolutely dominant first half, but same old same old, plate up chances to the opposition, and get punished.

We were in absolute disarray from the corners, I have no idea what they were doing. There were runners peeling off left, right and centre, players were at a standstill and no-one was taking control. It was very un-Cotterill like.

We've got lower mid-table written all over us, but we need some signings in the next three days, and desperately.

As for Fredericks - what the fuck happened there?

I'm gonna blame our guvnor for the defeat today.
When I was a wee lad, I was taught to defend both posts at corners. Obviously under instruction, we had nobody on the far post at any Burnley corner today and, fair play to them, they didn't half take advantage of it.
Overall, it is a very harsh defeat on our boys as they played very well for an hour. Then again, it's the Championship and we need to start converting more of the chances we make.
Sorry Cotts, you cocked up today pal!

Think it was less frustrating when we were at the bottom of L1. I always had faith we'd get out of that, but I don't have any faith in us amending the absolutely atrocious transfer window we've had in the next few days.

Very, very annoyed with the state we're in. Questions need to be answered. I feel sorry for the group of players we do have because they don't deserve this either.

That's an excellent point well raised that at the time I didn't notice.

A bloke on the post for each of their goals, and it gets cleared off the line.

The power of hindsight, aye. I'm sure he'll address that after today.

I said it at the time JJH. It just looked like a huge gap which I had never noticed before. Wether we have always done it, I have no idea but against a side with a reputation for very good set pieces, I would have thought an extra defender on the far post would have been a good idea.
Cotts is starting to wind me up TBH. Moaning in public about finances when I don't want to see the club spend beyond their means again. Keep it in-house please or this constant moaning might end up costing him his job! You can't keep criticising the bloke that owns the club.
As for the berk on radio Bristol saying 'Lansdown is a £Billionaire, just spend', never heard of SCMP / FFP then?

Fredericks has gone back to a London club because of personal reasons.

Yeah I know the reasoning, but why agree to sign here in the first place?

Very confusing, sums up our horrific summer.

Have to agree. Tbh I'm glad we aren't willing to pay stupid wages even if it means we miss out on the likes of Gray and Gayle, that road didn't end well last time. We just have to be more shrewd with our targets. Whether there's been some miscommunication over our budget/strategy, who knows. But it seems to me that would fall more under the remit of Burt and SC than SL, so just get on with it.

Personal reasons could mean anything mate. Death of a family member, home sickness, etc etc.

I would say the problem was people at the near post, not the far post, but other than that that is a very good point.

Was that the Gashead who is a steward at Ashton Gate? He made no sense, saying that we should just spend, and that we need to change things massively, yet he said the problem was that we didn't take our chances! Well if you don't take your chances then what's the point in blaming the manager and saying things need to change massively when all you need to do is simply put the ball in the net? Bloody stupid deluded c***. Should focus more on his own team, nowhere near us at the moment. He also believes Cotts is arrogant. Yes, because your retarted manager doesn't fucking jizz out whenever Bristol City lose, forgetting that they are 2 divisions above them and better then they will ever be. Bloddy stupid twat.

Anyway, as for the game. We did very well in the first half. We played some great football, Brazil like. But as soon as they got a corner, they scored. Then, another corner, which came from a horrid pass from Williams, who played horrendously today, goes in, we don't learn our lesson and concede again. To concede from 2 corners when dominating the game is horrendous, and I reckon we will be practicing our defending at corners, because it was horrible today. And then our heads dropped and all Burnley had to do was see the game out. Kodija got a goal, but it was too little too late if i'm honest (and god knows i'm singing...) .

Anyway, I have a couple of things to say. Firstly, the good players. Reid had a great first-half, putting in a great shout to start against Birmingham. However he did quieten down after the first-half, unlike Flint and Pack. Flint had Gray in his pocket for the time he was on, and his evident work on his pace was shown when he somehow caught up with Gray after starting about a yard behind in a straight sprint for the ball. Flint made several great challenges, but my vote for MOTM goes to Marlon Pack. He looked brilliant in defense, not putting a foot wrong the whole game for me. Always ran to the ball when players looked a little static, and never gave up in the second half when all hope seemed lost and put a great shift in.

Now moving on to the not so great points. For me, 3 players did horrendous. The first of the three is Mark Little, who looked very rusty, but you can probably put that down to a lack of match fitness. It now looks like the beginning of the end for Wilbraham though, who had another shocker today. Didn't do anything apart from lose the ball. I really don't understand why Cotts doesn't take him off, surely Agard and Kodija would work well? The only reason I can think of is that Agard and Kodija don't work well as a strike partnership at the moment, but hopefully he's trying to sort that out in training. But Williams brought a whole new meaning to the word shocker today. His passes were as accurate as my BPL predictions, and gave away needless corners and throw-ins. He did hit the post, but other than that he was shit.

Fair play though to Burnley, they did look very strong in defense, and you were able to keep Bryan and Kodija quiet throughout the whole game. Wish you luck for the season.

Yes mate, I think it was the gas supporting steward.
No issues from me with Burnley at all, won fair and square, met a few nice visiting supporters before the game too.
I must praise marlon Pack after having a couple of digs at him recently. I thought he was excellent today. Well played.
As for the 'near / far post thing', both headers were won at the near post but the first certainly went in at the far and a defender on that post would have easily cleared the ball. IMHO, it's schoolboy stuff to cover both posts at corners leaving the target smaller and the keeper with less to do.
Am I over simplifying this or missing something?

I thought Kodjia looked dangerous in the first half and I'd say Flint just shaded MOM but agree with everything you said Josh. I do worry that the three players you mentioned Josh arnt going to be up to standard.

Here's hoping I'm wrong.

I think Little will recover and do well, and it's a 50/50 for me if Williams will. I don't think Wilbz will though.

On TFF back in the day when we were last in this league, I slated some club for being in the second tier of English football (and previously touted as the fourth most watched league in Europe) as being tinpot for not filling their bench.

I now state we are also tinpot for being unable to fill a bench. It should never, ever happen. Even if it's a youth player for experience. You should name all your subs regardless of how many you can use.

One final thing from me on the game - why do Burnley fans sing 'no-one likes us?'

With absolutely no disrespect, I've never met any folk outside of Lancashire or any connection with Blackburn, Bolton or PNE that has a proper hatred, or even dislike Burnley.

Bit confusing, but oh well.

Shows the difference between a premium side last season and a league one side last season. Completely on top in that game had a good amount of chances and scored nothing. Burnley had nothing, two corners were about the only chances they had all game, offered little else and scored two goals.

Played well but couldn't score. Becoming a familiar feeling so far.

Really enjoyed the game.

Encouraged by our play, would like to believe that it'll eventually justify the outcome - 3 points!

Credit to JJH - what a freakishly good prediction!

Dirty great thread on OTIB Josh (unless you were being sarcastic and it's another WHOOSH for me).
Oh, I don't look on OTIB much anymore, it's full of biased shit.

Happened against Leeds as well, morons.
Fucking hell. All supporters fighting with each other should be given permanent bans from Ashton Gate. It's a bloody disgrace.
