So far all our opponents have said " we made Wrexham looked good we were so shit. They will struggle against a decent team".

Either there are a lot of shit teams in the league this season or we have played well and made them look rubbish.

Probably a bit of column A and a bit of column B tbh.

Played Macclesfield twice already - fixtures like in the 50s when teams play each other home and away in a week?

Not surprised you've only lost twice, you seem to have a certain resilience despite most of the side being unable to control and pass a football very well. And a decent keeper, although he looks a bit on the small side...
If only! If we had played Macc twice then we'd be higher up in the table with a much better goal difference.

We've only lost once, to Forest Green, not twice. You're right about our passing though, that little period after the red card in the first half where we were passing it amongst ourselves was just cringeworthy. Just get it up to Rhead. Yes it's not pretty, but it's what we're good at.

As for Farman? He's well over 6ft, so I'm not sure about that one. He's come on leaps and bounds in previous years. I used to be his biggest critic but he's probably our best player nowadays.

Sorry just my odd sense of humour - I guess he could have been a second row RU forward or rower...he certainly did well today especially that double save early on and then that slow motion long dive to Disley's bobbler going in the corner...

Your attacking play would have ripped any team apart. You look a little lightweight in midfield against a clogger team and as I say teams will score goals if they put you under pressure.

Yeah I know, we are very lightweight all over but it's working up to now and we are so quick in the attack that it is killing teams. Nobody is counting their chickens, just enjoying some quality football for the first time in a long time. There will be a day where we get thumped playing this way I suspect but Mills has enough credit in the bank already to be cut some slack. We look bad on set pieces and I think a very good counter attack side will cause us big problems. Fuck it though, I'll worry about it when it happens.

When do we get to play the tinpot teams? In hindsight we've done fairly well to only lose one of our opening six games (Cheltenham, Braintree, Eastleigh, Macclesfield, Forest Green and Grimsby).

It doesn't get any easier either, Gateshead and Wrexham up next.
Err we a very tinpot I'll have you know and won't have it any other way.

Again we did not play particularly well but as long as we keep winning I wont complain, Guiseley had us backs to the wall for the first half an hour and we showed no real attacking threat and scored with our first chance. Sam Russell kept us in the game with a few fantastic saves and Johnson took both his goals very well.

Less said about us the better. Fuck me we're shit Burrows and Tuton aside).

Wrexham were excellent going forwards and Vose is a step above. However, we made Moke look like Messi by giving him hours on the ball - any kind of pressure and he bottled it.

As I say Wrexham were good going forwards but looked suspect defensively. Fyfield is awful and Vidal shaky. Manny Smith was okay, but I can see why he's still in the Conference and Mark Roberts is in League 1.

As I say excellent going forwards but sides less shit than us will cause them lots of problems.
How have Burrow and Bencherif done?

Hmm I think you need to look in the mirror, see that thing above your throat - its wider than your throat. If you were grabbed by the throat you are more likely to stay standing than fall over, unless you want to of course. Fair play to Rhead it was almost risk free play - give Gowling a bit of hug in the Gy box if he reacts, bingo, you hit the jackpot pen plus red card. If he doesn't worst you'll get is free kick and maybe a yellow. I wish football was more like rugby in that a bit of 50:50 argy bargy just gets a finger wagging from the ref, but it isn't and Gowling should know that.

Overall Lincoln looked poor but wasn't expecting much. This Town team are the best footballing side for at Gy for a long time but lacking something: - killer instinct, nouse, being street wise, not sure exactly what but it is something. As I said before Hurst seems to have an eye for technically good players but also seems to be an "unlucky" manager and winners make their own luck...also Jimmy Mack' is giving me the jitters at the moment - even the kids picked that up, is handling isn't clean and that gives the defence the jitters - Lincoln could have snatched it near the end with a poacher like Hearn.
I was more pointing out that there was contact as opposed to a dive.

That's where football makes no sense.

We probably are that, but don't look like keeping a clean sheet yet we don't look great going forward yet haven't failed to score yet!

You are right there definitely are defensive frailties. We have so far looked poor defending set pieces. We are a work in progress but I believe we'll give anyone a game this season. That said, as Master D says I'm sure we'll come unstuck a few times this season too.

Very comfortable win for CTFC today against Torquay. Despite playing with ten men for eighty minutes we never looked like conceding and may have got another goal or two.

Looking forward to Wrexham Monday our first real test against another promotion rival.

We could have done with Bencherif up front in the second half today.

How have Burrow and Bencherif done?

Burrow is the only signing of the current crop that would have got into even last year's team. The only beam of light in this tunnel is the prospect of pairing him up front with Richard Peniket when he's fit again around Christmas time. My neighbour's tortoise is faster and more mobile and makes better decisions than Bencherif. He'll be good enough in Conference North next season though. Aspin always thinking ahead you see. :ds:

I think most Lincoln fans thought Burrow would do ok. Still stand-by my thoughts that he should have stayed but he may not have wanted to and opted for first team football.

As for Bencherif, he's dropped a right clanger going PT. His build is such that he needs FT football. Where are you playing him? Not CM I hope...

EDIT - And a third ex-Imp in Hutchison!

Jones, Ricketts and Yakubu all off injured today. RIP our season again. Amazing how we manage to be so unlucky with injuries to key players.

This Hurst guy is stealing a wage I reckon.
Hang on, you were the one proclaiming how great Hurst was in pre-season by telling us all he'd come up with the amazing idea to try and score goals early in games. Good job Grimsby won the league over the summer I guess.

Nicky and Wayne need to go.
That's strange. I thought Wayne was working wonders at Alfreton what with the American invest and all that.

Seriously, please someone put him out of his misery and deactivate his account.
I said this a while ago but obviously no one listened and now look what's happened. However, I'm surprised that the proclaimed Voice Of Reason has also lost his head this evening.

It would take permanent brain damage to bring me down to your level.
Go fuck yourself dickhead.
Oh dear. ;););););) How did it come to this?:eek::eek::eek:o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O:brill:

Just watched the highlights and still none the wiser what Gowling actually did. I was sat at the left had side of the away end and saw the pair of them having a bit of a tussle on the edge of the box but was watching the ball as it came over towards the side but when I looked back Rhead was flat on his face and the ref was pointing to the spot.

Great equaliser from Bogle though but we nearly gave it away again with a couple of individual errors. Really glad I'm not a Lincoln fan though as I couldn't watch that every week, especially if Hearn isn't fit. One tactic, hoof the ball up to Rhead, bloody painful. At least we tried to play a bit of football.

Sparrow - I never ever ever ever (get it?) said Hurst was great. He can win the title getting 200 points in the process and I still wouldn't say he is, simply because he isn't and will never be.

Now re. my scoring early goals comment, if you had watched Grimsby play during the last couple of years, you would have noticed that Hurst seems to be more intent on not losing than going for the win, esp. when they're on the road. Now, as everyone knows, in this league you've got to win your away games if you're aiming for the title because an away point doesn't count for much.

I thought Hurst had finally realised that he was wrong, and had changed his system. It appears that I was wrong though.

We certainly did not deserve to lose that, we deserved at least a draw and on balance arguably the win. 2nd half we were by far the better team but it was always going to be tough playing against 12 men! Honestly how the first goal was allowed (especially when you consider the fouls he gave against us) is quite simply a disgrace!

After all our battling and fightback in the 2nd half I felt sick after seeing that goal go in.

Altrincham were probably Tranmere's weakest openents upto now, we were particularly poor 1st half and couldn't deal with Michael Rankine or his big fat arse. Fair play to Alty though, they won it fair and square and looked the most likely to score for most of the afternoon.
From what I've seen Tranmere are far too lightweight to be contenders this season.

Talking bollocks? You did nothing in the first half. Granted, we were abysmal the second, you deserved a point definitely, but that doesn't take away the fact that you're a retard who struggles to string two sentences together.

Come back when you're on my level.

"Come back when you're on my level." - Cringeworthy.

"retard" - Unacceptable hate speech. Change it please.

if you had watched Grimsby play during the last couple of years, you would have noticed that Hurst seems to be more intent on not losing than going for the win, esp. when they're on the road.

Slightly harsh criticism, that part. We've had more wins on the road than anyone in this division over the last two seasons combined. More than 3 of the 4 sides promoted during that time, too. The way we were set up for away matches over the last few seasons was perfect, in my opinion. It was setting us up like that at home at times as well which inevitably cost us promotion last season. We were obviously much more solid at the back last season and Hurst played to that. He knew we could soak up pressure and win games only having a few chances. There's a difference between knowing you can play defensively and parking the team bus. Ask the likes of Gateshead, Torquay and Barnet fans if they think we set up for a draw and I think you'll get a different opinion to yours.

However, I do think there is some truth in parts of what you have said over the past few weeks regarding us. Hurst obviously has opted to go for a more attack minded approach. Unfortunately a few factors at the back such as Gregor Robertson's injury, trying to shoe horn three CBs into a flat four and most importantly reeling from the loss of Carl Magnay have meant that this conversion to a more gung-ho approach have left us more exposed at the back.

A 3 match suspension to Gowling could actually prove to be a blessing in disguise as it might re-instill Pearson and Nsiala as first choice CBs. With Robertson back at LB that's 80% of the defence (McKeown included) that performed so well last season. Not sure why Tait was't playing yesterday, but going from the highlights I've seen and the commentary I've listened to he would be my personal choice at RB and I'd actually probably say it's more likely to come down Robertson vs East for the LB slot than it is Tait vs East for the RB slot. With a settled defence that picks itself, hopefully we can cut out the disappointing dropped points. As mentioned before though, expecting us to be as solid at the back as the previous two seasons and be a dominant attacking force is beyond wishful thinking. I do think there is a balance to be found though and I also think this is what Hurst is attempting to find.

Isn't is strange how you can be playing shit against another shit team and go into added time losing and end up winning. Shaw, Mahon and Chappell were awful and Richards, Peers and Fear the Beard (Thomson) were fantastic and changed it.. We're above both the Chelsea's of this league on a millionth of their budgets.

Also, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but full credit to both sets of supporters for the impeccable way the minutes silence before the game was observed, something that cannot always be said in games like these.

Well Rheads comments on the radio last night are a bit cuntish.

' I went down like a true professional'

That said, absolutely needless from Gowling. Such a pointless way of pissing away what seems like would've been 3 points.
