I played many moons ago at youth level before I did my cruciate ligament in, never got back into playing then.

Was that through choice, or did you find it a struggle playing after the injury?

Only reason I ask is that I'm a cricketer myself and I'm currently waiting for an ACL reconstruction. Not sure if I'll go back to playing after it's sorted.

Through choice really. Didn't really feel confident enough to put my knee through it so I just avoided it. Was a tough thing to do though as I really missed playing the game.

Do you do anything else now to keep fit? My other two sports of choice were football and squash so I'm thinking I might need a hobby that's less demanding on the joints.

I had minor surgery in 2010 and 2012, and was back playing inside a fortnight both times. This does show how short of players we were (and still are)

Swimming and surprising cycling, both are ones you can take your time with if you please :)

Use to play when I was 9 til I was about 13. Really enjoyed it and was a good bowler. Coach had his son in the team who ( even though he was the best all round player in the team) could not captain to save his life. Coach was a cock who blamed everyone else for getting his son out.

We won with 9 players Saturday

I won the toss chose to bowl first and we bowled them out for 141 in which I got 4-44 taking me up to 24 wickets in 10 games. Had a plumb lbw turned down as well as we could tell they weren't going to give them. Bowling round to a left hander it pitched on middle/off ish and straightened with the swing and hit him fairly low right infront of middle with no stride. The laughable bit was an over or two later another appeal to a right hander has hit him on middle/off again no stride but on knee roll, so ask the umpire if it was going over and get told I was swinging it too far and it was going down leg.

We then knocked it off 3 down with plenty of overs spare, I came in and only had 6 not out but was dropped off my first ball  stepped back and pulled an off spinner behind square, having just done my check of the field I thought the guy was squarer, I didn't really put power into it just timed it and he dropped it

But official captain should be around next week so thank fuck I don't have to do it anymore, remembered how much of a ball ache it was to do last season.

Only 44 for me this week. Should have gone on and got 80 but we still chased 170.

Been asked to play a Cricket game on Wednesday, as my mates team are short on numbers..

I used to play for a team up until about U12's, then I packed it in for football..

Not sure what to expect, will it likely be a case of 'out first ball, but just an extra number in the field'? That's what I'm expecting. Was pretty good at batting when I was younger.

Just a casual 350 run win on Saturday, batting first we hit 413-5 off our 45. One opener got 179 not out and I came in with 18 overs left and got 101 not out, me and the opener had a 204 run partnership in the 18 overs. First time I've hit 2 hundreds in a season and I'm averaging 114 so far (7 innings out 3 times).

You might make the the Aussie first XI if they are short

Our first XI have made it through the T20 national finals day for the 2nd year running, it would be some achievement to defend a national title. Unfortunately for the lads it won't be shown live on sky again this year, although their will be a highlights package. Our 2nd XI also won their T20 cup on the same day, so wasn't a bad day all round!

Won Saturday, first team player came down to play for us demanding to open the batting having not batted highly/overly impressively in the 1's. At one point he threatened to leave if I didn't open him and just told him I didn't care what he did but he wasn't batting in the top 3 (1 averages 50, other opener had hit 230 odd runs without being out in last 2 weeks and #3 was a 15 year old who averages 30) so told him he could bat 4. We set 191 for the opposition, I only got 9 having been caught by some 65-70 year old running backwards ball coming over his shoulder, 1 hand catch and tumbled with it while holding onto it, there had been about 7 drops at this point before hand..... We then bowled them out for 160 odd (despite them putting 174 in the books, I added the book up after and it came no where near that) I got 2-23 and a 14 year old got 6-25.

Sunday batted first came in at 7 with 8 overs left and got 33 off 6 overs or so, no guilt what so ever being a friendly as they brought back senior bowlers to bowl so dispatched both for a good few boundaries. Ended up winning by 30 runs or so.

This weekend was a disaster, with the top of our Division so tight, tension was high tempers flared
Bolwed out Stanton Harcourt for 150 with overs to spare (horrid pitch) then we we got to that with no issues only 3 wickets down, and I did not need to bat. Our coach is never happy unless we thrash a side into oblivion. It's the Kilkenny way. Also Stephen our coach slipped and fell over while bowling. He took some abuse from an opposition player, but oh boy, he he didn't like it when Stephen called him a Village Idiot for dropping 3 catches, all dispatched in the same place by the same batsman.

Cublington for the West Bladon Sunday XI Friendly. We lost toss and set us 206 to win. We were crusing up until drinks, then it got dark, clouds came over and we collapsed. Positve as I was to get the score moving again, I got bowled for 1. Cracking pitch thought

I think that's me just about done for the summer. Not playing on Saturday (had enough of the atmosphere), on Sunday for Bladon Friendly XI we have a home game for a change, then I won't play until Sunday the 6th, which will be the last game of the summer.

Next year, I miss the whole season due to Operational Commitments oversea's. Won't be back until 2017, so will need to find a winter nets session where I can work on my game prior to that

Chester Broughton Hall? Saw they'd made the finals, played a uni game there last season, lovely ground.

First game in 3 weeks, actually had 11 men, but still got stuffed. 115 ao, oppos passed it for 2.

I was bowled for 11, still just about averaging over 10 for the year.
