There's a grainy video of the Gowling/Rhead incident on Twitter. I can't get the video to show on here but it was posted last night on this account.

Also, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but full credit to both sets of supporters for the impeccable way the minutes silence before the game was observed, something that cannot always be said in games like these.

Absolutely. I was expecting the worst (from both fans), but as you say there was complete silence throughout. Not ashamed to say it brought a tear
Well Rheads comments on the radio last night are a bit cuntish.

' I went down like a true professional'

That said, absolutely needless from Gowling. Such a pointless way of pissing away what seems like would've been 3 points.

He also said Gowling had him grabbed by the throat, which a lot of Town fans seem to be forgetting. They really can have no complaints and you'd be better off aiming your ire at Gowling, who as I said yesterday is a bit of a liability when it comes to incidents like this and always has a stupid red card in him. I think this is the second time he's been sent off on his return to Sincil Bank? Why try and take Rhead on at his own game? You're not going to win. As opposed to Nsiala who was professional and had him sussed out when he came on.

Agree with all of this. Read doesn't need to be saying that though. He's opened himself up for ridicule if he has a bad game at Blundell Park in December now. If that happens I'm sure #trueprofessional will be doing the rounds on various Grimsby related Twitter accounts.

True. He was winding your lot up all day though and he was getting plenty back. I think it all started when he skied a shot into the Stacey West in shooting practice and was abused from then on. Obviously he's a magnet for that sort of thing given his size, but I'm sure he's more than used to it.

Oh and just like a certain someone, I'm sure Rhead couldn't give two shits about what does the rounds on Twitter

We were fortunate yeserday but I don't care really, we were excellent at Moss Rose last year and lost. It was just a poor game all round yesterday, neither team really got going and a draw would have been the fairest result on the balance of play. Great to see Thomson, Richards and Peers get a chance to shine when something was really at stake, the trust shown in them and they made the difference when they came on.

Agree r.e. Rhead and his comment.

That suddenly leaves doubt in the decision for Grimsby fans, when quite clearly it was a red card. FWIW, Gowling also admitted his guilt.

You haven't played anyone decent yet, neither have we.

You say that but if you look at some of the teams both sides have beaten (us Alty, Welling, Boreham Wood, Lincoln and Kiddy) (you Aldershot, Torquay, Kiddy and Welling) and you'll notice all have already taken points off expected promotion contenders.

Alty have beaten Grimsby and Tranmere
Welling have drawn with Eastleigh
Torquay have drawn with Grimsby
B Wood have beaten Tranmere
Kiddy have drawn with Grimsby
Lincoln drew with Cheltenham, Eastleigh and Grimsby
Aldershot have drawn with Cheltenham.

Grimsby for example have taken 3 points from games with Alty, Torquay, Kiddy and Lincoln, whereas we've taken 12. So although we haven't played a promotion favourite yet, we're already doing significantly better in games against opposition which other contenders have also played. That is encouraging imo.

Umm, if I've read your second sentence right, and God knows I'm struggling to make sense of it, we weren't beaten by Aldershot.

Sorry you're right, but you did drop points against them. I'll change it. I'm a bit fucked from last night sorry.

You get the point anyway.

Neither have we, which means plans for the Conference North title next year are going like clockwork. :woo:

I quite like this season's B2TF, he's still being a bit of a **** but it's all aimed at himself.

Only time I don't go Macclesfield, we win. The silver lining is, I didn't give Macc any money though.

Total agree the ref at our game was very poor. Both sets singing the same song about him says it all. 1-1 would have been fair. But gotta love a last minute winner

The minutes silence was very well observed as well

Looks very familiar for Gy fans ie. Barnet - we could beat you twice and still finish below you. Barnet only took a point off Rovers and Gy. What it did indicate to me for Barnet is that they might struggle this season against better opposition - I've sold them in the spread so hope to make a bit of money from that observation.

Glad they got a chance, don't know why Kane hasn't been played till yesterday. Would of been perfect against Cheltenham when the game opened up towards the end

It's consistency against those poorer sides which earns teams promotion. All the matches are worth 3 points. If you take maximum from the bottom half of the table home and away then that's a total of 72 points already, which is about the lower end of the playoffs.

Entertaining game at EP yesterday.

Glenn Rule got sent off for a reason that nobody knows, the ref says a bite but there's no video footage of it, people have also said headbutt and a stamp. So he was probably rightfully sent off, but their player smashed into Baggie/Rule, I don't know as I was too busy messing about on my phone. But the general opinion seems to be 2 reds was fair.

Then just 5 minutes later our keeper gets sent off for deliberate handball outside the box, but I'm not sure about that one, he didn't deny a goal scoring opportunity so if an outfield player had done that he'd have got a yellow, is it not the same for a keeper?

The ref was an absolute joke, and it's not the 2 reds County fans will complain about, he let so much go, a Stalybridge player took our our player off the ball which is surely a red? But only a yellow given. So many decisions he let go. Neil Young said he thinks the ref gets caught in the occasion, he's probably a little shit bag who works at the post office and this was his big day out and he can tell all his mates about how the spotlight was all on him at a big club.

This has led County fans to doubt NY by saying Odejayi should have started when he's clearly not looked fit recently and can't play 2 games in 3 days. Idiots.

Still had a great start, we've had a massively difficult set of fixtures and the team isn't gelled yet, our best player isn't fit and Odejayi isn't also match fit. We've got a nice set of fixtures next month so hopefully we can get a point tomorrow and kick on. We'll still go up.

Let's not sell Dominic Vose for a five-figure fee spread over 48 months with sell on fees. 3-year deal on 2k per week. Now.

Still think we are 2/3 players from being genuine title contenders.

Spot on. Last season our record against the top teams wasn't bad (beating Barnet home and away, 4 points off Eastleigh and FGR beating Grimsby away etc. But was terrible both against the bottom teams and against those around us in mid table. If we do a Barnet and play the flat track bully role ill be more than happy.

Realistically we are play off contenders. We probably can't afford those 2/3 players unless we get lucky with loans (a Kieron Morris/Matt Derbyshire/Mark Wilson type loanee would be ideal)

Yeah, we'll do well to finish below the top 5 barring an injury crisis. The league is piss weak this season, I can only think of 7/8 teams that can realistically go up.

If we keep getting the attendances we're getting then it won't do the transfer coffers any harm at all. 5200 average and we're budgeted on what, 3k?

At an average of £10 per head that's an extra £20k over budget we are bringing in per home match, with no debts to service.
