I just love Bradford fans. Such a humorous bunch. We used to have one simpleton that posted on OVF a lot. Every pre-season he or she would make posts spouting about how good the Bradford side was, how they had the best midfield and defense in the league etc etc. After one or two months that person would completely dissapear until the season was over, no doubt cowering somewhere with their tail between their legs.

With a rather amusing quote like "I think we have a very good team assembled but they haven't quite learnt how to play together. When they do we will be frightening.", I'm starting to think this Spike on this thread is the same person. What am absolute numpty.

I don't mind Bradford really. They're a horrible team but they don't make any bones about it and just get on with it. Fair play.

Not like fucking Swindon. Bunch of bastards.

Who's bitter? Just because people are commenting on a match and stating that they're extremely dissapointed at being beaten with one of the last kicks of the game against what is a very average side (despite your fans opinion that you'll suddenly turn into Bradford-lona soon somehow) and one we really should have scored a couple against in the 1st half doesn't mean people are automatically bitter.

We should've scored this, we should've scored that... Vale barely worked Williams in goal, I'm a bit bored of reading how overhead kicks from outside the box and efforts from 40 yards that go no where near were really meant to punish us? City had more shots on target and for every bit that Vale should've killed the game off in the first half, City more so (and eventually did), killed the game in the second half

I said earlier in the thread that we didn't really create as much as we should with all the possession and good football we played in the first half. But that doesn't take away from the fact that we were well on top and much the better team until some of our attacking players started to run out of steam after a hard week, and we're replaced by two players who shouldn't even be in the match day squad for different reasons. Our manager Page got it badly wrong.

If you had scored a wonder goal to win the game it would have been a little easier to swallow. But it was a lump forward, which is how your team likes to play the game based on that performance, and a mistake from our defender, which is very dissapointing. A draw would have been the correct result based on the two halves, you certainly didn't deserve all three and will absolutely need to improve significantly if you're to do even half as well as many of your deluded fans insist you will this season. I predict mid-table for us both if you don't, and if we don't rectify out forward options or lack of.

Where are we all saying we're now world beaters Col B? All I've seen on our own boards is a bit of positivity following the result, but certainly an acknowledgment that we didn't play well and that you clearly dominated the 1st half.

All I've seen on here are comments from a number of us (including me) criticising your view after 5 games that you'll definitely finish above us this season (plus taking the piss a little bit following the suggestions pre-game that your style of play would take us by surprise etc etc).

I and seemingly a number of other City fans believe we have better players - generally - than last season (particularly now Cole has joined) and so have a feeling that we should (being the operative word) ultimately do pretty well.

Early results haven't borne that out, yet - doesn't mean we're deluded though, or indeed think that we're suddenly going to start playing tiki-taka. We just think there is more to come than what we've seen so far.

That's absolutely fair enough. I posted on our forum before the game that you were in a false position and would finish comfortably in the upper half of the table come the end of the season. But when you have fans in this thread coming out with statements like "You'll be frightening" at some point of the season it's a bit too much to swallow. No team in League One is frightening, and all can beat each other on any given day. That guy needs to get his head out the clouds, or from up his own arse.

I do think we'll finish above you as I believe we're only a goal-poacher away from a play-off side. It is unlikely that we'll add such a player to our squad, though, so unless JJ Hooper is given a chance and surprises us all I think we'll both finish anywhere between 8th and 13th. Ask any Bradford fan here and then'll tell you that Bradford will finish above Vale - we're all biased when it comes to our teams.

Also, I know he's loved in your parts but I actually think you'd be a better team without Hanson. You have some good players in the likes of Anderson, Knott and Morris, and it seems you suffer from the temptation to hoof the ball from the back in the direction of Hanson time after time. We did the same thing with Tom Pope far too much at times, yet without him this season the midfield is looking a much more attractive unit to watch due to the fact that they're actually passing the ball to each other.

Totally agree. We are so much better without Pope for that reason we don't lump it and actually use a strong midfield which would surely suit Bradford better.

Anderson is actually from the same town as me and went school with my sister so followed his career as the local paper juices over him but he's one that's had a lot of injuries and never quite reached what was expected.

With O'Connor to come back our midfield will be even better. Him, Grant and Foley in the middle is a very exciting prospect, with Brown and McCourt as more than adequate back-up. That's arguably the strongest midfield we've had since the John Rudge/Ray Walker days.

It's very strong and makes it all the more crazy we bypassed it last season with lump ball when it was strong enough then too!

Whilst Hanson is loved by some, there's as many who agree he influences the long ball too much - do you think we enjoy watching us hoof it to him for 90 minutes? The number of successful flick on's isn't even that great especially since Wells left.
BUT, hoof and Hanson these last few seasons has taken us from 18th in League 2 to 7th last season in League 1, a promotion at Wembley, a fourth division side reaching a major domestic cup final, wins against Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa, Sunderland, Wigan (the season they won the FA Cup)... It's worked for us despite it being horrible to watch so it's difficult to argue with success

Understandable. Players like him do have a purpose. It wasn't that long ago that a little and large combo was a regular thing in the top league when you think about Quinn/Phillips, Owen/Heskey etc. Speaking as a Vale fan it's been massively refreshing watching us play football through the likes of Grant, Foley and Dodds early on in the season. So much more enjoyable. With the kind of players you have in midfield I should think you're also capable of playing similar football, but won't do while Hanson is a regular part of your side.
