I think the current Liverpool side is terrible, and I don't say that just because they got beat by West Ham the other day (I'm pretty sure I said this already somewhere before).

No creativity, no penetration, and poor defensively. I don't think United look good either (at least, they aren't challenging for the title this year) and think they will come a good 10 points ahead of Liverpool. They will beat Liverpool next week too.

The side for me is probably worse than before Rodgers took over. It's probably why Coutinho is so overrated now - because he's being compared to the dross around him and not to the top sides.

Hopefully this will be Rodger's last year, and I think it probably will be.

You gleaned this from 4 games, and 4 games where the team as a unit is still finding its feet thanks to new additions? Impressive.

The team is not terrible at all, its simply not been consistent in the 4 games it's played so far, that should come with time, the quality is there.

I'm not basing it on those 4 games only. I don't actually believe the quality is there at all, and they won't get close to a top 4 standard even after finding their feet (IMO). I think this summer Liverpool did pretty badly in the transfer market to be honest. But we'll see.

You said the current Liverpool team. If not the 4 games they have played, what are you basing it on precisely? The changes are too numerous to be basing it on anything else.

I agree they look top 10 side at best and that is down to average players being bought by a very average manager. They have the George Roaper to deal with too soon..........downhill for King Brenda !

I imagine he'll be basing it on the quality of your team. Liverpool aren't up to much. Our first 11 is better than yours, real talk.

That's nonsense about Coutinho. He's one player Liverpool do have that could easily play for United, Arsenal or Chelsea. You could argue that with better players around him, certainly better forwards that makes intelligent runs, that he'd be even better. He's still only 23 too. Also, the Liverpool team is far from terrible, albeit one with nowhere near the same threat, pace and penetration as it did when it had Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling most weeks just a couple of seasons ago.

Who would Coutinho displace at any of those sides?
Coutinhos best position is behind a striker or playing left of centre as an attacking mid. He's not better than Silva or Sterling, he's not better than Sanchez, Ozil or whoever the hell they'd want to play there, he's not better than Mata, and so it's on Depay really, and Depay plays wider than Coutinho, so I'm not sure he'd displace him. On the other hand Depay wouldn't displace the little Brazilian in the role he occupies for Liverpool, but the others would. Actually fuck Ozil in any position other than behind the striker, but still.

I'd have Coutinho over Mata myself, or certainly the Mata we've seen since he moved to United which is who we're talking about anyway.

In the last two seasons combined Mata makes more chances/key passes/assists, more successful passes, and scores more goals per 90 minutes than Coutinho. Source: Squawka. It's not an exact science, but it gives reasonable doubt to "certainly" being better than the current Mata.

Remember, we're not talking about the Mata that was arguably Chelsea's best player prior to Mourinho's return.

And given a combination of Countinho improving and Mata having better players around him last term, that doesn't surprise me. We couldn't hit a cows arse with 5 banjos last season. But right now I'd sooner have the Brazilian, that's all I'm saying.

Poor finishing doesn't change chances created - only assists. Liverpool scored only 4 fewer than Manchester United.

Coutinho is the new Lucas.

ie. nowhere near as good as Liverpool fans have convinced themselves he is.

Coutinho is a bit special, it's very clear and if he can find a way to do it all the time he'll be up there with the best in the league, if he's not already. His anointment of current Messiah is a sign of how desperate things are getting at 'Pool, mind.

Don't worry it won't last long; he'll be the next one to move on next Summer.

Did anyone else see MOTD when Ruud Gullit said Liverpool will only play better if they have a bigger stadium? To be fair, they played their best football at The Emirates, so maybe he's right.

As is stands, we're trying to incorporate a number of new players into the starting 11 and thats going to take time. We were shocking against West Ham but we're only 4 games in and there are positive signs such as the first half against Arsenal and the 6 points against Stoke and Bournemouth despite not playing well (and admittedly, having a few decisions go for us). 3 cleans sheets out of 4 games isn't exactly end of the world stuff.

What I'm really struggling with is Rodger's love for Lovren. Yes, he did play a part in the 3 clean sheets but the game on Saturday showed up once again that he is always capable of losing his concentration and doing something completely inexplicable. A club with our ambitions (however deluded before someone weighs in) can't possibly be relying on such a player in such a pivotal position. Someone told me he had the highest number of mistakes leading to goals in the league last season. I'm not sure if thats true but even if he 5th in that list, I'd love to know what Sakho did to Rodgers to justify Lovren starting over him.

Rodgers has the ego to potentially try and prove "I was right from the start" and try and play Lovren into form and it could come at significant cost, especially with the run of games we have coming up.

Why Rodgers has never brought in some ball playing central defenders is a bit weird considering how you are set up to play. Don't get me wrong im no great fan of Liverpool but i have a slight interest as my mates support them. I think if you had, dare i say it a pairing like ours you would be better for it.
