Looks like Scandrick has done his ACL. An injury this defense could ill afford, if so.

They used to do it back in the day, but Kev was a young man then, and Nick Halling could whip him with his terrible towel if he started to doze.

Wouldn't be surprised if they stick on some NFL Network stuff in the gap between the late game and SNF and the studio lot disappear.

RG3 officially benched in place of Cousins. That is some bust this has turned out to be when you consider what they gave up for him in the first place, would not have predicted that after his rookie season though. Best thing for him now is to get cut you'd think. Doubt anyone will trade for him.

Cousins is no better than average to me in fact I would probably start Colt McCoy over him. Whatever happens it's hard to see them being more than a 4 or 5 win team.

I wish they had done this last season and another team had traded for RGIII. Think he would have recovered in Philly (just dreamin'). It really is a shame how his career has nose-dived, he was the most exciting player in the NFL during his rookie season and there wasn't a close second.

The injury took away some of his physicality and ruined his confidence. The hiring of Jay Gruden might have destroyed his career. WHY did they bring in a west coast guy to coach the team? Someone who lobbied for Andy Dalton over Colin Kaepernick for the Bengals. The Redskins will remain a laughing stock for a while.

Gruden hire seemed strange at the time, surely given what had been invested in Griffin and the importance to the organisation given what was given up, they'd have picked a HC was a perfect system fit? Arguably, the QB was bigger than any HC they could have hired.

Surely during the interviews Schneider must have put a premium on the guy to hire was the one that convinced he was the guy to resurrect Griffin's career. Surely Gruden must have convinced him he was that guy.

Looking forward to it. Though the last couple of years I've done much better in the waiver wire than the actual draft...

Similarly unsure QB situation at Buffalo too. Tyrod, Matt Cassel and EJ all vying to be #1. From what I've seen/heard/read, Tyrod is looking good to start.

Tyrod named #1 for the 1st game. One of EJ or Cassel to leave now, they say. From my limited knowledge, I wouldn't mind losing EJ of the two. Already had his chances.

Fred Jackson cut too. Surprising to hear. Some folk not happy. Hope the Bills have got a good reason for doing so i.e. it ain't going to make them weaker. Probably going to make someone else a lil bit stronger, you'd think?

edit: oh aye, RGIII. Hard to believe some thought Indianapolis shoulda took him over Luck. In HINDSIGHT, of course.

I dunno, the market for a 34 year old RB ain't gonna be huge. I doubt he'll make a roster by week 1, though might have a chance at a vet minimum deal when injuries start hitting teams mid-season.

If Buffalo have a few young RBs they like, makes more sense to have them use up a roster spot and compete for RB2 behind McCoy on a cheap deal than retaining Jackson. At this stage in the cuts, if they're releasing Jackson now it suggests he wasn't really close to being on their 2015 roster too.

Cassel is ok as a backup, given they had little at RB last season the burden was put on Orton, raw WRs and a pretty bad o-line iirc. Any QB that starts this season will surely be able to have an easier load given McCoy is there now.

Fair points re. Jackson, Jimbob.

Saw a pundit saying he could get picked up by someone for a 3rd down option if nowt else. Cleveland could be a punt as a coach there knows him from being at Buffalo previously. But then Fred may want to go to a playoff team at his age (and standing) having obviously never made the post-season at Buffalo.

The guy also mentioned that although he's 34, he's only been in the league eight years, so maybe not as over the hill yet as his age might suggest. Dunno. As you say though, Buffalo must have their reasons for letting him go.

I'm just dead excited for the season tbh. Really reckon we could FINALLY make the playoffs.

Looks like he's going to Seattle to reunite with Marshawn Lynch. I figured he'd end up in New England or even Dallas, even at 34 I still think Fred Jackson is as good as any of their running backs. One of the most underrated players of his generation.

Fraid not. The super geniuses at the NFL UK office will be working behind the scenes to try and get a terrestrial home for the Superbowl, Wembley games and play-off highlights, but as of now there's nowt.

(Lone exception: Green Bay @ Chicago is on Pick TV on 13 September, but looks like a one-off teaser sort of a thing).

The failure/inability to find a terrestrial partner is a pretty big set back, I think. Captive audiences of insomniac students who get into the sport cos there's nothing else to watch at 2am are the bedrock of football fandom in this country, I suspect.

Damn it. What was wrong with C4? Still at least the 'Fins are one of the Wembley games.

Just don't think they were interested. Never gonna be a ratings smash and C4's commitment to "diverse programming" and "distinctive character" is now fulfilled by documentary strands subtitled "WOULD YOU JUST LOOK AT THAT FUCKING FREAK!!!".

Bastards.

Doubt it will be over as the NFL can take it to appeal if they wish. They'd be well advised not to as while this has dragged on their case has been torn to shreds by Judge Berman. Chalk that up as another Goodell punishment overturned when decided independently. Was always ridiculous equating this to a PED's suspension. Bet the NFL wish they'd tried more to settle now.

The NFL would do very well to STFU, take their medicine and try to pretend that this entire miserable, farcical, tiresome fucking episode never ever happened. Which is to say that I have no doubt that they will do anything but that.
