I'm just waiting for this to fall through and end up with Monk or Koeman. It sounds too good to be true, but if he does come I hope he gets more of a say in the transfers. Something is ultimately wrong with the transfer regime currently and it needs to be addressed. He can try a sneaky bid for a few of his old players too where he had a good relationship. Unrealistic, but Rues and Hummels would be great.

I just hope we don't have to see some mind baffling tactics now, such as Clyne in right wing back with Emre Can at centre back being exposed. Also Ings on the left side of midfield...

Rodgers buying Allen, Borini, Assaidi, Aspas probably had something to do with the owners forming the Committee.

It definitely seems that way on the surface. I have said before though that the failure of the players that the committee has brought in could well be pretty much down to Rodgers. Benteke and Firminho stand out as two players where you would raise a real question over their signing, the former because the Liverpool side lack width to provide for the bloke and the latter because his best position in the team appears to already be occupied by Coutinho. However Lovren has looked poor in a Liverpool shirt, but at Southampton he looked a great centre back. Has he just been exposed? Did he just have a wonder season at Southampton? Similar thing with Sakho who hasn't had Rodgers trust but didn't look a bad defender at PSG but has been left out of the Liverpool side for long spells when things haven't gone right. Emre Can has been completely stifled by Rodgers. He's a midfielder, albeit primarily a defensive one, he can play the ball, he's comfortable with it, yet he's shunted into whatever gap in the back line Rodgers had the least confidence in in that particular week. He's been totally wasted at Liverpool so far, when he should be breaking up and starting attacks in the midfield.
Based on what Lovren looked like before Liverpool would anyone question that signing? No. Sakho? No. Can? No. Do they look like the players you'd have expected them to be based on how they performed before Liverpool? Hell no. Is that the committees fault?

We'll know how much of it was down to the committee and how much was down to Rodgers once Klopp gets his claws into the side. With a new manager some players might actually get a better shot at proving themselves and some players may just up their game to try and stay in contention for a first team place. We all know a new manager can work wonders for a player.

The more I read about it, though, the less Rodgers comes out well of the TC thing. Supposedly Rodgers wanted Premier League experienced players like Benteke, Lallana, Lovren, Ashley Williams and Clint Dempsey, and either didn't want or had no input into the signings of Moreno, Sakho, Firmino etc. If true - god only knows what sort of state your squad would've been in had he had free rein.

A TC/DoF setup isn't in and of itself a bad thing (and is very successful elsewhere), but you need the manager and the rest of the staff to share a coherent vision. It sounds like Rodgers and his TC didn't, but I'm not sure they were to blame.

I don't follow French football much but i remember someone saying that he was quite average at Lyon so that's why they let him go. If that was the case then he was a one season wonder at Southampton really.

He's been beyond awful to be honest, one of the worst defenders i've ever seen in my time as a Liverpool fan. He constantly fucks up, and whilst the same can be said about Skrtel, at least he offers some consistency defensively. Horrible combination though.

How defensibly minded would you say Klopp is? I've seen his football on plenty of occasions, but not studied it in great detail. Amongst all the offensive play, does he ensure the defence plays it's part or should we partly expect the Liverpool of 13/14, where the attitude was basically "you will score, but we'll score more".

seems very strange to me to blame FSG. They trusted a young and promising british manager, gave him time, gave him 300m pounds, and they backed him. Hard to blame anyone but the manager, that's much more than 90% of clubs in this league.

He's sound, the successful Dortmund weren't anything like Liverpool imo. We were extremely gung-ho with our approach, they were far more organized and almost as fun to watch.

My only concern is that his style demands too much of the players and i guess that's why they had so many injury issues. So i wouldn't be surprised if we went through the same thing.

I do wonder about that, no real german managers in the premier league, I wonder if its because of the lack of the midseason break?

he is always playing a defensive football, Dortmund conceded in both championship season 22 and 25 goals, he tries to hit you on a counter-attack.

in Germany we have a word for it. "Umschaltspiel" that means to turn around from playing defensive while the opponent got the ball to a full attacking team when you got the ball in the shortest space of time
