How defensibly minded would you say Klopp is? I've seen his football on plenty of occasions, but not studied it in great detail. Amongst all the offensive play, does he ensure the defence plays it's part or should we partly expect the Liverpool of 13/14, where the attitude was basically "you will score, but we'll score more".
Not sure wiki tells you that but I'm sure salty will be on the dark web looking for something positive as we speak

Klopp coming to Merseyside will mean at least one more person in Europe will discover there is a club called Everton. Surely a good thing for their long term future.
Surely when he does his research on Liverpool he will look at the lfc webpage and click history.....the first 3 pages are about Everton.....your motherclub

Would be great to see Klopp come in, we gave potential a go with Rodgers and it didn't work out with the exception of 2013/14. Realistic expectation would be to get in the top four and try to stay there, which is certainly possible given last years top four are struggling for consistency, this could turn out to be perfect timing by FSG

Even with Klopp i don't expect us to get top 4 this season. Most of our players don't suit his style of play.

only a few points off the top four, and the impetus a new manager can give to a team containing a fit sturridge who plays so well with coutinho it's certainly a possiblity, we just need chelsea to stay out of form for another month and our only competition is really Everton/Tottenham, and if we can't finish above these two teams then it would be really dissapointing

Finishing above Everton won't be much of an issue. Spurs have the potential to be a little more problematic but with only 8 games gone, if Klopp does come in we need to be looking at 5th minimum then build on that next season.

Keep in mind your getting a new manager, you do realise all the players are staying?

No, I thought the players left with Rodgers. Damn, I need to rethink my post now.

The thing is, I have no doubt the quality of the squad exceeds what we have seen so far this season. And given that we're only 3 points from 4th thanks to so many other teams being just as shit if not worse, that gives me cause for hope if Klopp can work his magic. Outside of City, Chelsea, United and Arsenal, who has a better squad on paper? Sure, some teams have better players in individual positions, but overall I'd say we're pretty much the best of the rest, so to speak.

If Klopp hits the ground running and the squad responds well to a new manager, there is no reason we shouldn't finish 5th or even offer a challenge for 4th.

Valid point, I did forget how poor the Everton and Spurs squads were pretty standard. As with every team hoping to qualify for the Europa League spot they'll have a good spell and somehow expect their team to push into the top 4. The only other team that might give you a bloody nose on the final run in would be Swansea.

Sarcasm is so unbecoming of you Pags.

Can't argue with that. The next 3 away games for Liverpool are Spurs, Chelsea and Man City, so it will be interesting to see where they are in the table after those games. I can't see Everton being a threat to the top 4, but Spurs will be up there and i fully expect Chelsea to go on a winning run soon.

Todd needs to worry less about Liverpool and instead see which shit United players they will buy next. I personally think Rooney and Barkley swap!

Great stuff from Klopp.

"But he likes having the ball, playing football, passes. it's like an orchestra, " gesturing as if playing a violin, "But it is a silent song. I like heavy metal more. I always want it loud.

I like [Arsenal's philosophy]. I love it but I cannot coach it because I am a different guy. If you watch me during the game I celebrate when we press the ball and it goes out.

"To enjoy football you have to do this. He can win, he can win, post, goalkeeper, save - that is what I love. If, in the last four years, Barcelona were the first team I saw playing when I was four years of age - this serenity of football, they win 5-0, 6-0 - I would have played tennis.

"It is not my sport. I don't like winning with 80 per cent [of possession]. Sorry that is not enough for me. Fighting football, not serenity football, that is what I like. What we call in German 'English' - rainy day, heavy pitch, 5-5, everybody is dirty in the face and goes home and cannot play for weeks after."

Really excited by the prospect of Klopp, he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that'd stray away from his principles like Rodgers did.

I'm assuming he'd stick to his 4-2-3-1 that he deployed with Dortmund, I can see it getting the best out of Firmino once he's fit with Coutinho getting put out on the left, from what I've seen he plays it quite narrow so Phil would get a lot of time in the middle of the park allowing the full backs to provide the width. I'm not sure how the striking options would pan out if he sticks to one up top, I'd love Ings to stick around. Maybe Origi can go away for a bit.

I'm sure a fair few gobshites will expect an immediate return to being half decent, I expect a full season or two until we start looking like Champions League contenders.

Gobshites? And there is no reason we can't make a quick return to being half decent. Like I said earlier, with the typical new manager honeymoon, there is no reason we can't finish 5th.

I personally can't see why Liverpool couldn'y finish 4th unless Tottenham and/or Chelsea realise how to be good again. No one else should be a threat...
