Just found this out. Annoying, I'd been looking forward to watching this. Surely when it's only 6 episodes, they could have scheduled it to air at a time where there would be no break?

The Strain it is, then.

The Strain is decent for a series of that ilk, far better than Helix or whatever that guff set in the Arctic was called. Reputable actors in it as well - I'm following it on Watch at the moment, they're currently showing series 2, Series 1 is on Sky On Demand at the moment. I'm enjoying it.

Watched the second ep of FTWD last night, really liking it now we're starting to build up to stuff and it's starting to take hold.

Watched episode 1 of the Strain. Didn't like it.

FTWD is good. In a way, it's actually creepier and more jumpy than the original. In the original, you have zombies basically coming round every corner. You know that if something moves, it needs shooting. In FTWD, there are normal people everywhere and maybe the odd zombie lurking around. Makes you pay more attention.
There's also the added interest of how this scenario would plan out in a normal environment. What do the police do? What do the masses do? It's quite interesting.

So far i think the 3 episodes peaked at episode 2. last week was excellent. first week was a bit 'setting the scene' and getting to know the characters. didn't like last night's so much, but it definitely has potential.

Given up on FearTWD. It's just so incredibly bad. The continuity, the acting, the characters, the behaviour of the characters....evrything is just so ridiculous. Cleary a case of lazy writing and an attempt to further cash in on the original 'brand'.

It's an absolute piss-take that it associates itself to the original TWD.

I've been doing a bit of a re-watch of TWD. Amazing how fast the walkers used to be. Forgot they used to call them "geeks" too. Weird.

FTWD is making The Farm™ seem like an action-packed roller-coaster ride. Yeah let's do a Walking Dead show starting just before the outbreak... but then gloss over most of the carnage.

Skipping 9 days, what the actual fuck

Bit of a dull episode until the end, but it may aswell just be The Walking Dead now.

Another dull episode.

I expected more from this to be honest, and although I still enjoy and look forward to it, it is not what I expected. That 9 day jump has ruined it. Hope it can pick itself back up with a great finale.

Finally an interesting character in FTWD. Shame he's black and thus will probably die next episode though...

Well I thought the finale was pretty good.

Disappointed with the series overall though as that time jump removed the whole premise of the show and effectively turned it in to a clone of The Walking Dead but with shitter characters.

It's just mediocre in almost every respect.

It's like if the Syfy channel got the rights to produce a cheaper spin-off of The Walking Dead, this is what they would come up with, except it would be shot in Vancouver. The assault on the military base, which probably resulted in dozens of people dying for no good reason, wasn't even pondered as a moral dilemma. The characters aren't just dull, they lurch from being moronic to loathsome every other moment. And why the solider shot his girlfriend or what happened to him I have no idea. The only redeemable thing about it is that finally at least someone has engaged their brain in the entire franchise and realised that getting to a boat is probably a good idea.

Yeah, it annoyed me that they made their move on the base without any thought for the innocent living people inside. I can often get past shit like that though as long as it's still enjoyable. Hence why I enjoy the types of films I do.

And the soldier shooting his daugher, I didn't get either. It was just stupid.

I thought the last episode was great, well worth the wait.

Why the hell would they give a shit about the innocent people inside the compound? as far as they were aware this is where the military took people to dispose of them, I mean let's not forget they took the time to release all the prisoners.

Also, Andy shooting Ofelia made perfect sense. She led him into the trap with her father where he was tortured for information, and surely Daniel had every intention of killing him after they retrieved their loved ones from the compound, an eventuality he made no attempt to try and cover up from Andy. Man was heartbroken and wanted revenge on the man who had mutilated him, what better way than to kill the woman who broke his heart who just happened to be the only person left in the world that said man he wanted revenge on cared about?

So it's turned into TWD without following a comic book. Still I enjoyed it, but think it would have worked better as a standalone series.

I enjoyed the slower pace to it. I also think it was pretty dumb to let 2000 zombies free on a building where you're trying to save someone from. it adds an extra danger to the actual mission.

Strand is a fantastic character. I think he could be one that the eventual series is built around. I don't know why he needed Nick's 'set of skills' in that last episode. Maybe as a disposal body if the zombies attacked? I think the Travis character arc was a little predictable. i still don't see him as a bad ass.

Perfectly summed up by EG.

Thought it was a solid season opener. Damn shame Ethan Embry only lasted one episode though.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
I don't remember if that opener was hinted at in the last series, but I thought it a bit disappointing that they could stumble upon it, and get that far through that storyline in the opening episode. It felt a little bit rushed, before the Beep Ex Machina at the end.

thought it was a pretty solid episode. there's 2 options for me on who was honking that horn. a) the wolves, or b) ron (dead pete's son).

i fully expect the perverbial shit to hit the fan next week. I imagine alexandra getting invaded by the wolves and it being up to Carol & Carl to protect the masses.

also as a side note, i'm getting fully engrossed into the comics right now (at comic 83) and i'm viewing them all online at hellocomics.com. if your a big fan of the show, take a look. it's fantastic

Ah I didn't think of the son. It could also be that girl as well come to think of it, I'd always assumed she was a spy.

Well I really enjoyed it

I enjoyed it. That's why it was a bit disappointing, because although it's clearly leading into something bigger, the bit that they covered in the first episode could have gone on longer. I hope they don't rush through good ideas so quickly all the way through.
