Awful game between us and Southport, neither keeper had much to do really. Huge win for us though, fortunate as it was.

The winner of the Burr tactics lottery tonight was 3-5-2, later which dumped, with good old 4-4-2 reinstated to inspire two pretty much immediate goals. He'll never start with it though.

Back from the Tranmere game - from our point of view, that was a great performance. Can't wait to see the goal again! Haworth is a fantastic winger on his day and frightened their right-back every time he picked it up. There aren't many as skilful at this level - but there aren't many as frustrating either.
Tranmere were surprisingly poor tonight, and it's hard to think of a spell where they were on top. We didn't create too much in front of goal, but had a lot of the ball, and definitely deserved the win.
Pundits on Radio Cumbria apparently suggesting Brabin should put his hand in his pocket for Cook, which is strange as this was one of his quieter performances. Did seem like Tranmere played without a proper striker tonight though.
Huge change in mood after Saturday, but it does mean we'll probably lose at home this weekend.

We went from very poor to absolute shite once we fell for a man who told us we'd be looking at the playoffs under him, as opposed to a man who never made promises but ensured his team wouldn't capitulate nine times out of ten.

I'm more miffed off this morning about last nights result than I have been in a while. Hell of a missed chance, but made even worse by battering them.

Agree with David in that we need a central midfielder in for a month or so. We're now missing our 'can do a job in central midfield for a game or two' midfielders!

No point in rushing Sparrow and Stanley back.

I'd argue that it wasn't your change of formation that won you the game, more that you finally figured out that all you have to do is either float a high ball into the box or hit a moderate strength shot at our keeper and you could get something out of the match!

We are in a whole world of shit right now. I expect Kidderminster will pick up their first win of the season on Saturday.

Good turnout from the 45 of you.

Just under 200 actually, not too bad for a Tuesday night.

Eastleigh deserved to win the game, Pennock picked the wrong back 4 and then did nothing second half as we struggled. Not good enough. For Odubade to score twice against us is ridiculous, no offense but the lad is shite and up until yesterday has never done anything against us (or for us). It's a measure of how poorly we defended last night that he did.

Hope Todd gets the job, top lad who has got Eastleigh playing some nice stuff.

Thought it was a great game of football last night, contested by 2 very good footballing sides, who will both be there or about's come April.
Be interested to hear if any of the 197 FGR fans thought we were a cynical dirty side (as per the bitter Tranny Rovers fans).
The game was truly an advert for quick and neat football, played on the deck at pace by both sides.
Yemi was sensational last night & gave the FGR back 4 a roasting.
I suspect when he has played for you and against you in the past, he has been used as a right midfield player, which he is not. TBF, and to give credit where credit is due, It took his loan spell at Woking & Gary Hill's managerial know how, to show us how to use him and boy are we seeing a completely different & rejuvenated player. So something good can come out of a Woking experience, beside Paul Weller, of course.

5 yellow cards, a straight red and a penalty conceded, plus 13 other given fouls. On top of that were the 2 other clear penalty chances you should have given away and the numerous other kicks/elbows/shirt pulling that went ungiven too. Oh, and the yellow that your 'keeper should have had for delaying the penalty for about a minute.

As for last night, aside from their goal in the first half and a really good save by Davies in the second, Barrow created nothing. They didn't need to, as we wasted the 2 or 3 very good chances we created with back-passes to their keeper. Jennings forced the only really good save just after Barrow scored and to be honest he should have scored. Norwood was through 1-on-1 and just meekly placed it right at the keeper.
Second half we just resorted to hoofball for 75% of the half and it didn't work. Barrow were really content to knock it about at the back and just lump it forwards themselves most of the time and we simply couldn't break them down.

As for the booing, at the end of the game, when we've played like that and it's our second home defeat in 4 days, I can completely understand it. The players can't complain about the support this season and they need to know that when it's not good enough, it's not good enough.

FWIW - we only got 4 yellows and a red which isn't particularly bad, and of course, you make no mention of the 2 yellow cards & a red card your team got.
No other team shirt pulls do they, its a very new concept of defending and Eastleigh FC are the first team in the league to do it & oooh a goalkeeper delaying a penalty kick to be taken, you've never seen that before either, what a futuristic team we must be coming up with all these brand new tactics.
Get over it mate, or you and your club will be here for a very long time.

Go to 1:25 to see the most blatant penalty not to be given ever. Incredible.

The standard of reffereing in this league is staggeringly bad at times.
The guy we had against Alty, Ollie Yates was clueless.
I know it's not easy when a whole team surrounds them etc but they really dont help themselves at times.

I wanted to see something debatable that I could maybe disagree with, but nope, that is a ridiculous decision!
Stuff like that does happen every match though, and both sides in every game will have their own grievances, but the standard of reffing is awful. And linesman are even worse!

Fully agree, fuming. We've totally dominated the match, apart from the column that matters the most. Rhead sounded a little off it as well.

Agree good game and no I didn't think you were particularly cynical or dirty, have seen much worse. You played it on the deck with urgency looking to win the game rather then concentrating on fouling us. Credit to Todd for that.

You're right, Yemi has always been used as a winger when I've seen him, plus he played under Hockaday for us which wont have helped. If that's his usual standard nowadays then fair play, he's better then I thought.

If Macc continue to play like they did at ours and work as hard they will fly up the league.

When we've played as well as we have in 2 and half of the last 3 games it just makes it all the more painful to think about the Southport, Barrow, Boreham Wood, Chester, etc. games.

Ahh football.

Good grief. Did the ref leave his guide dog in the dressing room?

I'm not bitter. You won. Congratulations. You got 6 cards in total - 5 yellows and a straight red. We actually got 3 yellows and a red, but the difference is that it's only 2 players who received any type of card - Lois Maynard took 2 yellows and the red by himself. If you honestly think you're not a dirty side, I feel sorry for you. Ever heard of small man syndrome? Well, replace 'man' with 'club' and I think that's the cause of your problems.

I've got no issues with losing to Eastleigh - you're on a list with Boreham Wood, Altrincham and now Barrow too. However, their fans aren't acting the way some of Eastleigh's are. "Get over it mate or you'll be here a long time". What would you know about it? You've only been here since 2014.

Just have to hope our own hex over Braintree continues on Saturday - cannot believe how high up they are, they were utter garbage when we beat them in August, should have been 6-1 not 3-1.

Seeing it as a positive that we can hurt two contenders directly hopefully with two victories. Got to shake tonight off.

Our problems? and what are our problems exactly?
Bitter - beaten by a smaller club, then has to raise the fact that we are a smaller club. YAWN!
Its no crime to be a smaller club at any level. The fact that we are competing and not bleating when we lose, but you don't compete and then bleat, says more about your club than it does about us.
Not sure where you are getting your yellow and red card info from, but its very different to the BBC website, which shows it as i had stated.
Your defeat to us was 5 days ago, but you still cannot let it go. If your club shows the same bitter attitude, they will very quickly lose more points, oh, wait, you lost again last night? Did they bully you, and pull a shirt and get a few yellows by committing fouls on your poor boys, maybe even do a bit of time wasting towards the end of the game. Shame on them, they really are a bad bunch of northern hoodlums those Barrow boys aren't they...

I mentioned the smaller club issue, with reference to small man syndrome, because usually when a smaller man has an attitude problem, it comes from the fact they are trying to belong or trying to prove how tough they are. I think it's the same thing with your need to remind people you beat us and the fact that apparently we are a bitter club because of it.

And as for me not being able to get over it - YOU brought it up talking about the Eastleigh/FGR match, so that's on you.

Believe me, you may be able to get away with speaking for most Eastleigh fans (well, there aren't that many are there?), but I absolutely don't speak for all Tranmere fans and to call our whole club bitter because I have the audacity to think you are a dirty side just shows how defensive you are. (Which comes back to the small man/club syndrome).

Teams have come here and kicked and lumped their way to wins before (See Martin Allen's Notts County and Cambridge last season for the text book definition of that). I know how football works and I absolutely will not take lectures on 'being here for a long time' from a fan of a club who has been here for all of 1 season.

As for Barrow - nope, not a dirty side. Scored their only really meaningful shot on goal and got the points. Funny thing is, they aren't acting like you are about it, because they are a proper club and haven't just reached this level on the back of being some Oxford fan's piggy bank project.

I'm getting bored of this lads, no offence! Anyway, could do with a positive result at Forest Green now. Based on last night's result, a dip into the loan market may not be a bad idea at this moment in time.

He has to go into the loan market or the promising position we've got ourselves into will be wasted as usual.
Welling went to Gateshead and won so they clearly know to get surprise wins.
Rhead might have been off it after his treatment on Saturday dunno.
Power in centre midfield especially as the defensive midefielder is just plain scary as you know he'll make a mistake that will lead to a goal, put up front he's a different player.

This is non league, but everyone else so far has tried to play football. Horrible side, I hope you wither and disappear.
Fortunately we managed a win against them, but what annoys me is the referee always seems to condone their thuggery.
