So let me get this straight. You have to fork out £40 to own the game. And another £40 for a pass to be able to play online?

What a farce.

Massive Star Wars fan or not I cant justify paying that sort of money for a game. Shame.

This game might become a tipping point for developers abusing DLC. If the costs of developing games are going up then raise the price for the entire game and explain why. This method of selling part of the game for the price of what we're used to paying for games and then saying we have to pay the same price to unlock the rest is shady, underhanded shite. It's causing resentment from people that play often and it won't be long before parents click on to the scam.

I'm not buying this game or any other that engages in this practice.

You don't HAVE to buy the DLC

You can still play the game without it. It juds adds more content like every OTHER DLC out there

I'm enjoying the game obviously it's not a Battlefront game really but the game overall isn't too bad.

But isn't the online game dependent on you purchasing the DLC?

"dlc" like that splits the player base, especially so given it's a mp game. australian players already being forced in to american servers and playing with 200 ping due to the lack of numbers... 4 days after release. the dl-44 pre order bonus is laughably op, the main game mode only has 4 maps, the spawns make mw2 look like a polished masterpiece, no voice chat in a team based game etc. this game will die in no time at all.

My game has arrived at home. I am at work. Pretty much torture as I want to get stuck in. I was already signed up so the fact it is online does not bother me in the slightest. To be fair, I normally only really play games online anyway, like COD, Fifa or PES so this wouldnt have been the same, even if there was a conventional career mode.

Doesn't surprise me that the game didn't live up to be honest. Its made by EA for fucks sake, did you expect it to be amazing?

Is battlefront worth the investment? Seems pricey considering the season pass is as much as the game

Depends what you are in to. I already had a season pass, so it doesnt affect me and I like to play games online. Graphics and game play are really enjoyable so to me, its worth it. Would I pay £80 for it if I didnt have the pass? No I wouldnt, I would just get COD instead.

I'm less fussed by CoD more fussed by playing something star wars esque. CoD still hasn't surpassed the original modern warfare for me. That was incredible

I'm only playing solo offline. Are there only 4 different environments to play in this way?

EA in abusing fanbase of popular gaming franchise to milk the absolute maximum cash it possibly can - shocker.
If this game does well, we'll soon see every triple A title priced similarly.
I hope it dies.

Ended up buying it. Love the simplicity of the battles, all out chaos at times, just pile in lazer blazing. Put off buying it at first due to the season pass thing, but there's been plenty to keep me occupied and the battles are always fully populated with players. If I get a couple of months fun out of it I'll be happy enough.

I feel like I am starting to get good at this game. Getting very addicted.

Which is annoying, as I have stopped playing PES and my bro has got addicted to it, meaning he is now better than me. So I have two games to play a lot of to get good at.

I hate living with my GF, means I dont get enough time to do both!

Is there anything more gratifying in this game than dropping a thermal imploder on a large group of opposition players? if there is I'm yet to experience it.

I am only rank 13 or something pathetic. I think they need to change how you unlock guns. I think the better you get, the worse your guns get. So you start off with epic guns while you get good, then you get better and your guns arent as good.

Gets very frustrating when you hit someone 17 times and dont die. Then, they hit you once and you are dead. I am surprised my control pad still works, it goes flying a lot!

Regarding the guns. I can see what you mean as the blasters you start off with do seem to inflict more damage, but I think that's just down to them being easier to use. Some of the higher end blasters are fantastic if you handle them properly, though they can take a few games to master, for example I've just unlocked the second heavy blaster, it overheats very quickly and its rate of fire compared to the ones you start off with is woeful, but one well placed shot at an enemy is far more effective than button bashing away with one of the poorer blasters you start off with. Can't wait until I've unlocked that mega pistol.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
I'm only just getting back into gaming after a few years out. Really liked the look of Battlefront. But you're saying you can't just buy it and play it without faffing with subscriptions and online shit?

Battlefront 2 was an incredible game on PS2.

Looking at how scaled back a game released ten years later (albeit with pretty graphics) is a real shame. This game could have been great.

You really just need a PSN subscription, which surely most folk with a PS4 have anyroad?

Jakku expansion was free, not even come onto my radar to get a season pass yet, and the games are always fully populated.

Anyone been hammering Double XP weekend?

I've gone from level 30-36. Need to get that level 50.

Battered it last night. I had no idea though so pretty much missed out. I could have unlocked the Sullustan rebel head by now had I known in advance though, so not happy.

Really like the multiplayer for this. Some very good game modes (some bad ones too, can't believe Hero Hunt got through testing without everyone just going 'nah, forget this it's shit' - the inclusion of heroes/special characters is great though) - the maps are well designed too.

No excuse for the lack of single-player stuff though - even if it's a token formulaic set-piece heavy shortish one like COD's.

I know a lot has been made about the lack of a solo campaign mode, but I was speaking to a friend of mine the other day and he told me that he has the game but doesn't play it online.

I'm a little confused - I thought you could only play multiplayer? Can you play Battlefront without X-Box live?

There is the solo challenges to complete. I've done one so far, pretty boring.

So unless you intend to play multiplayer online, it's probably not worth bothering?
