One of those predictable career moves that a manager will regret. Why leave a good thing he has going?

Felt sympathy when West Brom got rid of him but seems like Clarke is just as disloyal!

Pearson is a fucking nutcase, so they should be delighted they broke down.
Is he bollocks, he's a decent bloke to be honest. Him going to Fulham would have surprised me but given it's only a couple of hours on the train I could see why he was tempted.

Why on earth would Reading fans want Parkinson? Am I missing something?

He was a bit of legend for them as a player.

I don't think they realise he's a master of prehistoric, long ball tactics.

Pearson is a great manager at this level. Exactly who you want on your side. Simple, effective, no nonsense. Clearly a bit of a nutter but unlike some other crazy managers I can think of (King Billy) it didn't affect results on the pitch.

Clarke going to Fulham isn't that much of a no brainer is it? Ignore the fact it's a dick move, they've probably upped his salary, nice long contract and he can move back to West London (appreciate Reading isn't too far mind) in a nice little gaff in Richmond

I can't understand why some of them want Parkinson either. Yeah he was a legend for us as a player but he is an average manager.

Apparantly Clarke now wants to stay at Reading.

I imagine he will have burnt a few bridges with the fans after the last couple of days.

If Reading do well it'll be quickly forgotten. But a few slips and there'll be little patience from fans before giving him stick, I bet?

Just when I was starting to like the idea of Nigel Pearson..

Clarke's fucked at Reading now, pretty much has to get promotion in order to appease the fans, which won't happen this season.

Supposedly only got rejected as Fulham didn't want to take on all of Clarke's backroom staff (no surprise as it'd probably be expensive given they only just signed for us a few months ago).

His press conference tomorrow and our game at home this weekend will give some idea on what's going to happen in the near future...

So are we going to go through this again in a few weeks time when another manager loses his job and Clarke is interested in it. So by the sounds of it one of the reasons he's still our manager now appears to be because he can't take our backroom with him. I don't think the owners will be impressed and i wonder what the players are thinking.

Majority of Fulham fans are happy the deal's off as they want someone better.

Not sure why he'd want to leave Reading for Fulham anyway. Talk about a sideways step.

He'll probably end up at Fulham next week. Fulham will negotiate the compensation down to help them afford the backroom staff. Easier to negotiate it down now knowing he wants out of Reading.

So by the sounds of it the reason he is staying is because he feels what he has at Reading is better for him at this stage. Sounded like Howe was not impressed with Clarke. As for the Reading fans saying he should now be sacked that would be be a silly thing to do. Besides if the results continue to be poor he will be sacked anyway.

He's going to have a very small safety net with the owners now, probably lost a lot of of trust they had in him.

Only way I can see him as our manager next season is if we achieve promotion. He'll either find another club or we sack him I reckon if we don't get promoted.

Tony Mowbray was being lined up to replace him had he left.

Some QPR fans are turning their noses up at Moyes or Rodgers coming :ffs:. Both are way to good for us.

I still want Pearson in.

Rodgers isn't too good for you. He'll take a lower PL / upper Champ job next.

Moyes is, he was third favourite in the early betting for the Reading job the other day, no idea how it was that high as I saw no chance of that happening.

I would have thought Rodgers would go to a mid table Premiership team to be honest. Bit of a fall from grace to go from Liverpool to QPR - not that I would complain! If he got us playing the attacking football he did at Liverpool originally then I would be very happy.

We're supposedly hiring our new manager this week. Carsley said in all the post match interviews that the Forest game was his last. Though given how we've messed around with managers this season wouldn't be surprised to see him in the dug out on Monday.

Speculation is most closely linking us with Pep Clotet, Swansea's number 2. A few very tenuous links with the likes of Pearson and Rodgers but I can't see us going for them, or them for us.

Meanwhile, Dijkhuizen has won 6 in a row I think with his new club NAC Breda.

Surely Carsley has done enough to get the gig permanently?

I don't see why they wouldn't go for you. Decent club with potential in a biggish city, moving to a new stadium soon so possibility of webcam revenue, plenty of players with foreign-sounding names (key to success in this division) and you can watch the planes landing if the game is boring. Plus no-one really hates you. You're like a posh Orient with clipped post-war BBC accents. What's not to love?

Shame. Finally gets Walsall up the table and will leave.

Why do so many managers do that?

Kenny Jackett could be the next to go. Lose to Rotherham next week and I think his time will be up.

Clarke will be gone before the year's up if we carry on like this. The past two months have been shocking, and since the Fulham links it seems the fans have completely turned on him (and I kind of have to include myself in that) and the comments by the owners haven't been too favourable either.

52 points from his 43 league games so far isn't good enough..

If we get humiliated by QPR on Thursday live on TV I think there will be no turning back from then. He still has the next month or so before I start wanting it.
