*cough* Brendan Rodgers *cough*

I see. So, someone points out your team plays shit football considering the money spent. And your response, instead of disputing it in a sensible manner, is to point out that Liverpool's previous manager (who was sacked, think about what that means to your 'point') was just as bad?

If we've played horrible, then why this?

So now you're saying a team can't play uninspiring, drab football whilst picking up points?

Nope. I'm saying teams can't get enough points to be second while playing "shit, turgid football."

And I wasn't defending Man United, I was pointing out that you're not someone to comment on wasted money.

Well, quite clearly a team can do that, just look at the league table. It says a lot about the general quality on display this season that United have played the uninspiring shite they have yet are in 2nd place.

And I wasn't defending Man United, I was pointing out that you're not someone to comment on wasted money.

That makes no sense unless I was claiming Liverpool didn't waste money. I've never understood this rather stupid viewpoint that, simply because an individual's own team is bad in the context under discussion, that individual is in no position to make a comment about another team. This forum would be boring and half it's size if people could only make comments on an aspect of an opposition team if their own team has zero issues in that same area.

Besides, even putting all that aside, United have spent nearly double what Liverpool have in the last 5 seasons (£300m in comparison to £160m).

United's football is uninspiring for sure. I don't think United being second right now reflects particularly badly on the quality of the league, though. Our style of football is not pretty but it is (more often than not) effective and is no less valid nor intrinsically better or worse than a gung-ho style or an aesthetically pleasing way of playing football. It's more a question of entertainment than quality, I suppose.

Chelsea won the Champions League playing negative shite against some pretty fantastic sides, for example.

I'm not claiming it isn't effective, I'm saying it's mind numbing and turgid to watch. However, I don't agree your league position isn't a reflection on the overall quality.

We'll have to agree to disagree there mate.

But while I've got your ear...

Klopp names Genesis among his top three bands here...

...I wonder how you feel about this given your rather vocal criticisms of Mr. Phil Collins.

Germans have always had terrible taste in music. Didn't David Hasselhoff get to number one?

I vaguely remember a campaign to get him to number one over here that failed. If he succeeded in Germany then they need to take a long, hard look at themselves in the mirror as a nation. Preferably whilst we are playing away at Wolfsburg.

I never said it was inspiring. "Shit, turgid" football means they're playing badly. My question was why are Man U second of they have been playing bad.

Think what you like.

And Man U have actually gotten something out of the money they've invested in decent players.

No, shit can, and in this case is, referring to the quality of football from a viewing perspective. If a team plays an entire match on the defensive, backward and side passing, but then scores a goal in the 88th minute on the break they still pick up the 3 points. But I doubt anyone would claim what the team had on display was anything but a shit watch.

As for players both teams have spent (and in some cases wasted) millions in the last five years, and both teams have bad, decent and good players to show for it.

There were plenty of United fans complaining about the standard of the football last night, prompting Chappers to ask if there were any United fans who had something positive to say on 5Live

it's not just Liverpool fans that think you've been uninspiring. here are some comments from your last game by United fans...

Well that was awful. We dont seem to be learning our lessons. Boring and rancid first halfs are quite regular. Then it opens up a little in the 2nd.

Football under LVG is so hard to watch.

This is awful.

Shocking performance

That was fucking torturous.

That was abysmal from Minute One to the end.

Frankly on tonights evidence we dont deserve to qualify. And unfortunately it now looks like we wont.

Van Gal is so negative,

Waiting to the fucking 83rd minute to bring Mata on?!! Give him time Louis. Stubborn idiot.

That was fucking dog shite.

all far too lackluster

you all seem in agreement that United are playing shit, turgid football. why is the type of football Liverpool play relevant? also, you can be effective while playing uninspiring, mind-numbingly dull football - the likes of Allardyce and Pulis have built careers on it. it's almost as if you're arguing for the sake of... oh... of course... football fans are morons, I almost forgot. Apologies, carry on.

We were shit against PSV but in general I don't have a problem with our style of play.

No fruit too low-hanging, no wisdom too received, no insight too barstool......

The seat of Schürmann, Schumann and Schütz; Bruch, Bach and Beck; Beethoven, Stockhausen and Einstürzende Neubauten; of FSK, KMFDM and S.Y.P.H; of minnesinger and meistersinger; the schools of Mannheim, Cologne and Darmstadt; electronic emissions from Eimert to Empire, from Michael Mayer to Johanna Beyer; kosmiche commotions from Can to Cluster to the Cosmic Jokers (I could continue)....

.... dismissed, glibly, contemptuously, summarily, entirely, by the man who thinks Baker Street the pinnacle of saxophony....

heiliger strohsack........

You really are an odious tool with a tendency to overlook the obvious in your haste to jump on every opportunity to appear clever. In this case, the fact the quoted post wasn't serious, and obviously so.

Seriously, just fuck off.
Are you talking to me?

I can confirm that nothing has been spoken or said.

Though there appears to be evidence of typing and reading.
