Agree the Curran brothers look quality already, one or two seasons and they could well be international standard, wouldn't be surprised to see Sam in a side before he's 20/21.

Meaker fell away when other people could perform well, bowling quick seemed to be his only plus point.

I see the logic behind moving Willey to open, but he hasn't looked too convincing in international T20 with the bat this far. Is he up to the standard of opening in international cricket?

And come to think of it, I think I'd rather ditch Hales than Roy in this format. Roy might not always come off, but when he dos he's our most destructive player alongside Buttler.
To be fair, generally his innings have been like today where's he's in with an over to go and just has to thrash it about, not really a basis you can judge him on. It's maybe not a change you'd like to make midway through a tournament but given we're in the mind of experimenting it might be worth trying.

Hales is the more experienced and can be pretty damn destructive himself - that century against Sri Lanka, a couple of 90s. 3rd ranked t20 batsman in the world. Roy's looked good himself but if you had to choose between the two at the minute I'd edge on Hales' side.

But then as a pairing they look a really promising partnership that play off well against each other. They could be the future for years in both one day formats, so you could argue it's better to stick with it and allow it to develop.

Watching Aus v NZ this morning, one of the most farcical umpiring decisions you'll ever see. Third umpire didn't give Lyon out caught at slip citing non-conclusive evidence despite it being clear to see from the naked eye the ball taking a massive deflection.

Aus were 100 odd for 8 at that point, Lyon goes on to get 34 in a near 100 partnership with Neville and they end up getting a first innings lead

Team for the final T20

Gone for a lot of batting this time but lost Plunkett and Parry who has impressed with the ball.

JJ Roy, JM Vince, JE Root, MM Ali, EJG Morgan*, JC Buttler†, SW Billings, CR Woakes, DJ Willey, AU Rashid, CJ Jordan

Meanwhile Chris Cairns has been quitted which is a bit of a surprise I think.

Ali isn't a top 6 batsman in any format of international cricket, averages less than 30 in both test and ODI and not great in T20. If they want him as a spinner fine, but bat him 7 or lower, we have better options 1-6.

All gone to pot after a great start from Root.

75-5 after 10.3 Buttler and Morgan both out, so a big finish looks hard now. Will we get 120?

Woakes will a good bash at the end and 3 quick Pakistan wickets including the usual run out farce leaves us well set although Malik and Afridi are to come.

Malik and Afridi should see Pakistan through, need to knock one of these over.

Boom! And there goes Afridi. Clipped top of leg. Should win this from here.

Jordan wouldn't be who I'd want to see bowling now, not tight enough generally imo

Good comeback from England, but a slightly poor period in the middle order of our batting could cost us by a few balls.

Why the fuck has Buttler got both gloves on there?! Fucking basics.

Reckon I'd go Roy/Morgan and Buttler for our two.

Well I take that back... absolutely fantastic bowling. Every ball on the money, absolutely no room for the batsman to improvise and create space. Full, straight and quick. What an effort.

Jordan's last ball wasn't on the money, it was a batsman fuck up, if he'd stood still it would have been a full toss for him

He bowled a few of them throughout his spell to be fair, and they were the ones that weren't getting punished. He was obviously intending to bowl yorkers and over-pitching it, but the batsman seemed to be struggling to get underneath it.
