Picked up the Witcher: Wild Hunt for £25 on my way back from work and was pretty excited to play it this evening even though I haven't played either of the previous games and know next to nothing about the series' mythos.

Fucking can't, though, can I, cos the game requires an 8GB update for 'network settings' that will take nearly six hours with the broadband provider I have. Tried to simultaneously download it and play the game, but my game data got corrupted and my system booted me back to the home screen.

What a fucking pointless waste of time this generation of consoles is turning out to be so far. My only real abiding memory of the new MGS is that it was more or less just a flashy Far Cry 3, and the two best games I own on it, Hotline Miami and Grim Fandango, could have been developed using twenty-year-old tech (the latter actually was).

Fallout 4 better be worth it. None of this flash bollocks, please. Just give me a game that works and doesn't force to me dick around with the internet and update files for connectivity features that I don't want and never asked for.

Calmed down a bit. Having a rollicking good time with the Witcher III so far. Feels like a less dreary Skyrim, though I'm still anticipating a quest line as good as the Brotherhood of Assassins from that game. What's particularly enjoyable about it so far is that as a newcomer to a series that has a shit ton of lore, both in previous game instalments and source material, I feel strangely well-acquainted with its characters and story already (six or so hours in).Think it has to do with how well characterised all of the important characters are and the fact that conversations play like actual conversations and because theyre having actual conversations I'm inclined to pay attention: so many games like this have their characters exchange abstracted and ultimately meaningless info dumps that confuse me even if I'm familiar with its universe, so it's nice to see writing that feels inviting to a newcomer without disrupting the rhythm of the story.

Oh and it also offers an organic moral choice system that seamlessly integrates with the internal social and political systems of its game world, something that games often fail at. I got some fella summarily executed for burning down a dwarf's forge and felt terrible about it and so I should have. Naturally assumed that the game would patronise me and spell out every possible consequence, or at leave leave hints, but it didn't. Only after the events and after some pondering did I realise that I really should have inferred that that was a possible outcome to my decision: this is medieval fantasia after all. Gonna have to have a little more scrutiny in the future, think like Geralt and not like Jockney.

You will never miss an opportunity to post a picture of Meatboy. It's just impossible.

I either own or have never heard of those games. Great.

Bought Broken Age on steam eons ago but still haven't played it yet. God damn it I hate it when PS plus does this. Considering the fact that I don't own a single one of PS4's exclusives, it'd sure be nice to see a single one of them on PS Plus for a month. Killzone or infamous or some shit. ANYTHING.

Super Meat Boy is quite good fun actually.

Also grabbed the telltale bundle that was reduced in the playstation store. Played the Game of Thrones one which was good fun. Will play The Walking Dead after I complete the Witcher expansion

Had a few gaming PC's back in the day I built, but getting a console is cheaper and less hassle! :D

Aye, I had the original Playstation and used to always have Sony with all my electrical stuff, but after the original PSX I went onto PC till 2010 and then my mates all had Xbox's and pushed me to get one. It was fine, but I have no interest in the Xbox One with all the fluff around it, I just want a gaming machine so heading back to the Japs!! :D

Gauntlet and Kings Quest are the free games this month

Gauntlet is very good if nobody ever played the originals in the early 90's

I give Sony props for the naughty dog games and bloodborne. That's it.

Most of what was shown at PSX were indie trash. The conference was abit of a joke and the VR demo was shiteee. Alot of salty Sony Pony's are truly butthurt atm.

Most of the games showcased yesterday looked like Android moible phone games. Sony Ponys laughed at Xbox when the announced backwards compatibility, yet they're hyped for PS2 games playable on PS4. Hypocrites. #ForThePayers £10 for a PS2 game and the screen doesn't even fit. Least on Xbox we can just put our old discs in. PSN is a joke compared to the Xbox Live service, so good luck trying to playing your trash on a network that goes down more times than a cheap hooker.
