Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has been told he retains the club's full backing following the 4-0 home defeat by fierce rivals Barcelona.

Benitez, 55, was only appointed in the summer, but fans chanted for him to be sacked after Saturday's match.

Following a board meeting on Monday, club president Florentino Perez said: "He has all our support and confidence.

"Rafa has only just started his job here. Let him keep working and he will achieve his obejctives."

I don't care how bad they were, he shouldn't be fired after so little time on the job especially that most of his senior players were injured for a while.

Wasn't that long ago that Jose lost his first clasico 5-0 and went on to win the league a year after that. Real hardly have any managerial choices left so they should just stick with him for a while.

Their fans are absolutely horrible though. What a shite club.

Seriously though, Beneitez generally has a good track record in Europe. It wouldn't surprise me to see Real Madrid win the Champions League but Rafa still get the chop at the end of the season.

Not anymore. Napoli was shit in Europe under Rafa. Even if they were unlucky to go out in 2013/14, they didn't take advantage of the Europa League chances and went out quickly. The next year they made it far in Europa but lost in the semi's to fucking Dnipro.

Real won't win the UCL with Rafa. They won't win shit.

Hadn't he only just taken his intended year out? I don't think at that point he could have been tempted back into football, as he'd only left Dortmund. Besides, he's not suitable for a club like Real and I question if he'd have even gone there if it was offered. Klopp's style is about nurturing and slowly bringing success, he requires patience. Real Madrid, Like Chelsea, sack their managers if success doesn't come immediately. And sometimes even if it does (think back to Capello, sacked days after winning the Spanish title). This is why Benitez is on a hiding to nothing and will be binned before the start of next season.

It's no secret Benitez's man management skills leave much to be desired. It's either his way or fuck off. Which is fine when things are going well, but causes issues with certain players when they're not.

I agree Napoli don't have as great a squad as some people say we do however lets see what Rafa achieved

1. Spent more than 100M and went from 2nd to 5th
2. Was brought in to bring the team forward, won the Italian cup, which isn't going forward as Mazzari already won it with them. As I stated earlier, he also went from 2nd to 5th
3. As much as Napoli isn't a world class team, they are a hell of a lot better than Dnipro.

To be fair, that doesn't make him a bad manager. Pep Guardiola didn't win the treble with Bayern after Heynckes did. That doesn't make Pep a failure.

That second place finish was their best in a long time. Maybe they overachieved previously rather than Rafa underachieving?

They finished second with Mazarri as well the season before Rafa finished second.

Napoli isn't a world class team by any means but they are better than 5th place.

It didn't but they reinforced pretty well. Callejon ended up being excellent, Mertens was good, Pepe Reina was great and of course, Higuain was a good transfer. The second season they spent money on shit.

Its like I said in the Copa America after Brazil beat us, anyone who say's Neymar isn't close to being one of the best in the world, is delusional. He's an outrageous player. While I do believe Messi will win the Ballon D'or, Neymar will be a close second.

There's been a lot of talk lately about how Neymar and Suarez have moved ahead of Ronaldo in terms of the best players in the world and I think that's probably correct now. I'd still have Messi as the number one though. How scary is it that one team has the three best players in the world as its forward line?

They should win every competition they take part in this season.

The thing is it ends up a bit skewed when they all play together. Although it's harder for one of them to really stand out it's also easier for them to have off games and still be rated because their teammates make it so easy when they're not performing. Also Ronaldo falling out of the top 2/3 is down to his level dropping quite significantly rather then Neymar and Suarez stepping up to new levels.

Messi is Messi of course and after a few months back no doubt he'll be doing the things we all know and love of him, and indeed he has come back looking fairly sharp.

Neymar is now doing consistently for Barca what he does for Brazil and its great to watch; he also isn't so wasteful in possession as he was and he is more of a team player these days. His all round game has come on leaps and bounds really since the start of last season even before Suarez came into the side after his ban after the World Cup. The Brazilian really does look to be beginning to fulfill his latent potential now and is perhaps approaching his best years which if he keeps hungry and level-headed, he could break all sorts of records.

Suarez also is just superb yet again, he scored another superb volley today. They all link up so well, and I agree, if they can keep them all fit, and with Vidal and Turan to come in, then they could do the clean sweep yet again this season.
