You'll have to explain who Chris Kinnear is first.

Is it my rose coloured spectacles or did Drenchy beat Norwood to the ball and palm it away for the penalty decision?

Well Drench has gone on record as saying he's cost his team a point with that challenge, although I think Norwood was a bit clever in getting the penalty.

That's another penalty for FGR, surely?

As for our game, that attempt from Rhead is decent! Hearn's first offside looks on.

That Barrow sending off looks like your typical non-league sending off where it's a yellow but the opposition run in.

Blatant pen, looked like it from where I was and from that angle looks stone wall. Ref clearly didn't want to give us another one.

Absolutely stonewall. Not sure Frear did himself any favours by trying to stay on his feet and going down a little late.

Great strike by Kingsley James there, but don't know why Gateshead were awarded a pen and Halifax's keeper sent off. Bowman got to the ball first and headed it wide, so why punish the keeper after?

Oh, that foul on Frear was a definite pen. Poor refereeing, but we spent 9 years down here so I'm used to that. Mind you, some L2 refs aren't a step up either.

Yep you're probably right, although the contact from Pell was so blatant it's still no excuse for not seeing it. Basically the ref bottled giving us a second pen.

And lol at Guthrie the cheating little bastard, looks even more obvious on the highlights, never getting away with that one. He's no Maradona.

Still in shock that the second wasn't given, the ref had given you everything else. The first was definitely more questionable ( I see why it was given, but I feel the forward was backing in rather than the other way around).

I thought it was a pretty obvious penalty at the time, haven't watched a replay yet though, apparently the ref said it wasn't enough of a trip! The ref was at best patchy, thought he should have given a yellow to the Cheltenham player who scythed Frear down in the first twenty minutes or so when he had knocked the ball past and done him for pace...but he ignored that, and the challenge on Bennett, before cautioning pretty much the first Rovers player to make a strong tackle. I have to admit that I was looking the other way when the penalty we did get was awarded, so can't really comment on its validity.

Either way, it was a really good game and probably just about the right result. Someone else mentioned not winning with the Guthrie handball, winning isn't everything for me and much as I wanted us to take all the points, doing so in that manner would have left a bit of a sour taste in the mouth...though nowhere near as bad as the soya milk we serve up at The New Lawn!

We could have had 5 or 6 by half time looking at the highlights there!

Parkin could have had 2 goals in the first 80 seconds, Deasy had a bit of a nightmare first half, as did Alty's defence.

Debatable red cards at 4:10 (Bennett) and 7:45 (O'Keefe). Not sure on either, ours could certainly be worth an appeal.

'Retaliation' seems pretty harsh for that, he was a 'tad miffed' which he had every right to be. Harsh red imo. O'Keefs was equally harsh as his challenge was no worse than the one on Bennett which resulted in a yellow?

Very true, it's the lack of consistency from some of these refs that I find the most frustrating. It seems he was looking to even things up.

Given the conditions those are 5 very good goals.
Agree.

Excellent control for our first from Holroyd to play in Dennis, quality feet from Hudson from yours, stupidly calm finish for Dennis' 2nd and superb play on That surface for 3rd and great strike from Gray!
