Ironic really that the reason we weren't playing is because we're playing Everton, the team that put them out. If only they'd have beaten Everton then they'd have still been playing us this weekend, just in the cup... and we'd have been going into the fifth round.

Nobody wants to sign for us according to King Ron on Radio Tees tonight. Bids accepted but no fucker wants to play for us allegedly. You pay the money, players will go anywhere.

Fact of the matter is, we are hopelessly badly managed and coached.

Last night I wrote I was prepared to give Moore one more month to turn it around. After watching today's utter debacle it's clear he's lost the plot or maybe he's just still pissed after his birthday party yesterday. I hope that's the case.

We are well in the dogfight and I can't see how we're going to get out of it based on above reasons.

If we do go down, we'll never be back. That's for sure.

I had York and Crawley for the drop, and I'm almost sure about the former unless they bring in at least another 2/3 new faces. Crawley were poor when we played them but we were poorer and they def need to improve. Stevenage I 'm not sure about as on paper I think they have a better squad than the other strugglers.

Still, this could turn out exactly like last year, in that 3/4 poor sides will stay up only because the bottom 2 are poorer. I don't know if you were following L2 last year, but those sides between 18th and 22nd could afford to drop points galore since Tranmere and Cheltenham were terrible.

I don't think it'll be a case of players not wanting to play for Pools SL, more a case of attracting them whilst you're struggling down towards the bottom.

Did you attract players last January?
I know that we only really pulled in the floating also-rans when we were down there last winter. Though we tend to be quite fortuitous with our location being stuck between the midlands and the north.

You're right, there was about 5 teams, including us, that could have had no complaints about dropping as they were so bad.

However, I think that this season's relegation strugglers might somehow be even worse than last season.

I can't see anyone 'doing a Hartlepools'.

It's definitely the league position, we've attracted plenty of decent players before but if we believe what the chairman says, our only hope is getting north east lads wanting to come home or lads from Newcastle/Sunderland etc. Apparently it's not the wages we're offering but I'd reckon it is. We've had bids accepted for various players who'd improve us but they're not interested, allegedly.

Last January we got Hugill who appears now for Preston in the Championship, Tshibola who is pretty much a fixture in the Reading midfield and Mirfin who strarts regular in L1. So we can attract but I have a feeling the terrible record of the club on the pitch over the last six years and our poor reputation in dealing with players, honouring contracts/keeping promises has come back to bite us hard.

I still think Yeovil will survive, they've picked up their form in the last month. Even though York won yesterday, I can't see them escaping with their current squad of players, and Stevenage are dropping again. I've said all along that Pools would struggle this year, but could be saved by the fact there's a couple worse teams down there.

I think we've got enough quality within our squad to survive but I don't think they're being managed well at all. All the sides below us have games in hand and seem to picking up. I'd like Sheringham to turn things round but if there are no signs of improvement vs Crawley on Saturday I'd get rid, February is a massive month for us and we need to pick up as many points as possible because March looks like being a total write off.

I'm definitely concerned that's for sure.

Sounds very similar to us. We must pick up points from our 'easier' run in Feb or we're doomed. Our game on Feb 9th looks vital.

A crucial win for us on Saturday, but it's fine margins. If Big Dave Winfield hadn't cleared off the line in injury time we would have lost and we'd have been in even deeper shit than we already are. But we've won two and drawn two of the last six. If we can keep that up we finish on about 45 points which looks likely to be enough in this terrible league. Jackie Mac's masterplan looks to be coming to be fruition and the sack advocates on our forum have quietened down a bit.

I think we've actually got a better squad now than we're being given credit for and we have subs that can make a difference to games, but the problem is that our senior midfielders are out of form. Penn has always been a limited player, but he looks a liability at the minute while Summerfield looks half the player he was at the end of last season. If these two can get back to form it'll be a huge boost.

Still a big ask but I'm way more optimistic now than I have been at any point this season.

I don't actually think it's entirely down to the squad's collective quality, we got bogged down into such a negative quagmire and it was clear there was some sort of issues behind the scenes and some bad eggs, the mood was pretty despondent. I want to hope us finally been the victors of a 90+ minute goal for once is a turning point in morale and attitude because we have enough to scrap above at least two of the dross down here, but you suspect ever club can say the same.

It's going to come down to who can pick themselves up and claw their way out I think.

Whilst we have only a victory against Luton to show for our efforts at home this season, we could beat Barnet and that would mean we are not 3 points behind them. Does this mean that Barnet would officially be part of the relegation scrap? Have they got the squad to stay clear? Stevenage could well experience 'new manager bounce' since everybody seems to rate their squad which could perform well with a more experienced manager, but they seem to be doing their best to join the fun at the bottom of the table. Hartlepool really ought to pull clear, but they clearly love a relegation scrap up there. They had better win those games in hand. Easier said than done.

Of course, we won't beat Barnet, our dreadful home form has been an issue since the last half of the previous season, but Feeney has got us playing a bit of football, the return of Darren Jones seems to have sorted out the defence and we looked slightly less nailed on to drop. I'm marginally more confident that we will have enough about us. Just as well since York, Yeovil and D&R all seem to have risen from their slumber.

We're pretty predictable in the way we play but as long as we have a proper striker or two up front and not Shaun Batt, I'm confident of us ekeing out enough home wins to stay clear of trouble.

I thought Akinde was a real handful at your place in the League game. Our (then) powderpuff defence struggled to cope with him. Mind you, they had the ability to struggle against most teams earlier this season.

I still don't think we're in danger of going down, but the longer I look at the table, current form and the remaining games, the more I talk myself into believing that it won't take all that many unlikely outcomes to happen to see us right in the middle of it.

Akinde staying was massive for us and we should be able to at least limp up to the mid forties which will be enough I reckon. But lose the next two and there will be a lot of pressure on the Wimbledon game, with games against Hartlepool, Yeovil and York still to come.

Something has to give with our respective home and away forms, but if it is only our home that changes we are in trouble. I'll settle for them both regressing to the mean.

A very satisfying day's work. Those results couldn't have gone any better for us if our game was on. In fact if we'd have played, chances are Barnet would have turned us over even with half their squad injured. Let the Saturday night drinking commence.

March is beginning to look like a make or break month for us. Including end of Feb we have Yeovil, York, Hartlepool, Carlisle etc, - the latter being the exception, the first three we need to be winning. Maybe not all three, but we have to pick up at least 6 points or we're going to find it very difficult going into April where our run in looks decidedly..er...shite.

This weekend is the first time in a while that I've felt as though we'll go down. Set up completely wrong at Cambridge...for all Burnett's faults, he could occasionally set us up well and get us to attack away from home. Difficult conditions Saturday but we offered nothing in a game where we should have been looking to win. Draws are no good at this stage of the season, and criminally we set up for a fucking 0-0.

We just don't have enough. The damage was done earlier in the season with some atrocious summer buys. Unfortunately, we lost some solid loan players as January began (Dunne and Ayo). Still is trying everything but you can't polish a turd unfortunately.
