Supposedly Eastleigh wanted to sign our star player Jabo Ibehre off us, we turned them down and laughed at them.

Believe there is serious money behind Eastleigh and they will want promotion, but it looks like Cheltenham/FGR are in a league of their own fighting for the automatic place so it'd be down to the play offs.

And Benson which wont be cheap either. Eastleigh reverting to the typical Conference money team of buying a million strikers.

Wyke set to sign a new contract with us, excellent news. If he has a good end to the season then I can easily envision League 1 teams sniffing around so it's nice to have him tied down to give us some leverage. Looks like he's bulked up a lot this season and seems quicker as well, he'd probably be one of the ones in our team I'd say could best make the step up to League 1 if it did come to that.

Aye, Eastleigh have some decent dollar behind them.

Confirmed that we have our two first choice fullbacks (Furlong from QPR and Page from West Ham) and Ryan Ledson (Everton) on a further month's youth loan. I'd be happy to enjoy seeing all 3 play and develop for the rest of the season - although I anticipate that Ledson might get a bit less game time as we have enough of cover to rotate through the holding role with Connor Newton, even if Keith Keane doesn't make the mark when he returns.

I trust that he will sign, but will we ever learn our lessons about announcing contact extensions before they are actually signed?

The Curle thing is embarrassing.

Yeah, there was the Dempsey thing last season as well. Curle seemed to be evading the question on Saturday, not sure what the deal is with that.

We had Furlong earlier in the season, did well for us. Many wanted to keep him but our injured regulars returned.

Holding out till Nixon fucks off?
That's unlikely to happen before his contract runs out though, if that's the plan then we won't be seeing him beyond this season. He keeps going on about needing to have the same vision as the club, if I were to guess I'd say he wants the board to promise him some of the money he's made in the cup to improve the squad in summer.

It makes sense from us, they'll be paying some of his wages and he's not gone to another team in this division.

On £5,000 a week i read on another forum just utter fucking madness! :eyes:

Seems to be the general feeling amongst other clubs.

We were told that he turned down more lucrative offers (presumably Rovers and a league 1 side) to sign for us on the basis that he was close to home. It appears we are paying him little more than Wimbledon were. Something like £3.5k is about right.

Not disputing that we're paying big wages for this league, but we have been outbid by other league 2 teams this season when recruiting.

Charlie Wyke extends his contract until 2018. Great business.

We were paying him 3 grand a week.

We've signed Dean Morgan. Last seen at Woking and who loaned him to Crawley. He also seems to have had a longish spell at Wycombe. He's no Matt Tubbs by the look of it, but he is an international with ... errr ... Montserrat.

You'll regret that.Has ability but tends to sulk and destroy team spirit in the dressing room like he did at Wycombe,i was well chuffed when he was let go.

A 'sulky destroyer of team spirit' AND the 'work rate of an arthritic snail'. Sweet. Unfortunately if he has just one ounce of ability, never mind bundles, he'll still improve our squad. He's a mate of our manager by the sound of it so we will see if they remain mates at the end of the season.

Recall him having a lot of ability but his attitude was shit. Turned it on when he wanted to though, scored a really good goal against Southampton and the winner against Reading when they had that ridiculous season in the championship and lost about twice all season.
