Revell is awesome by the way

Hahaha he's got you hook line and sinker.

Normally his debuts involve a goal and then weeks of nothing, you'll not even get that.

He's got you on side now, after a few games you'll got the few who still think he's brilliant running around like a headless chicken and the penny will drop with the rest.

Church was a headless chicken. Revell actually ran with a purpose. Great debut, really wound up the Boro players.

Have to say it's the overall styles employed by the clubs that have been the eye-opener Dan..Power and athleticism are absolute prerequisites and often I've been surprised at the difference here. It's much more suited to more attritional sides like Preston ( with all due respect to them) on promotion rather than out and out attacking sides IMHO!
Agree with this. The Championship is definitely a big step up but not in the way you might expect or a way that would be immediately apparent upon watching the odd game on TV. Defenses are far superior at this level and it's a very physical league.

I actually think more teams look to play what you might call "pretty football" below; whereas up here it's more attritional. That's not to say you can't play an expansive passing game and be successful, you just have to be much better at it.

Teams at this level are much stronger, fitter, more solid and more tactically aware. It was something Johnson said in his press conference joining us how League 1 was a more open, attacking league while the Championship is more akin to a game of chess and I'd say that's about right.

At the beginning of the season we tried to play in the same way we did in L1 and we were destroyed on the counter, teams were so much more ruthless at exploiting our weaknesses.

It's no coincidence Preston have adapted easily the best of the promoted clubs and since we switched to 4 at the back under Pemberton and looked to be more solid we've picked up 7pts from 4 games

This.

We were caught on the counter plenty of times last season too, but the teams in League 1 didn't have the quality to make us pay, whereas they do in the Championship.

Agree with both of the posts above. I remember playing Norwich at home last season. We battered them, but didn't take our chances and they scored 3 screamers on the counter to win 3-0.

If you can play nice football, while staying tight, and have got someone who can stick it in the net from the edge of the box, this league can be very easy.

If you don't have those things, it can be very tough and unpleasant at times.

The rude awakening for us in our first championship season came in the first few weeks when we went away to Watford. Played well enough, had plenty of the ball, created chances. Lost 6-1.

Midfield is the key I think. Our midfield was naive initially.
Plenty of that side still play for us now, so it's possible to develop and adjust.

Afobe for his part has hit back:

Benik Afobé ?@Afobe_ 34 minutes ago
I wasn't going to comment but this is too shocking and very hurtful. I did my best it was hard for us all #ScapeGoat

Benik Afobé ?@Afobe_ 23m23 minutes ago
Some people at Wolves are hanging me out to dry to save their own backs but I won't let my reputation be tarnished. I scored 10... 1/3

Benik Afobé ?@Afobe_ 23 minutes ago
And was top5 goalscorers in the league before I left and accussed of not trying. I'm a pro and wouldn't disrespect my teammates. End of! 2/3

Benik Afobé ?@Afobe_ 23 minutes ago
I asked to leave but only because I wanted to play in the Premier League but I never told my teammates or disrupted the changing room. 3/3

Benik Afobé ?@Afobe_ 22 minutes ago
I won't be commenting anymore, I have a good relationship with everyone at Wolves & the fans. Wish them the best. All about #afcb for me now

Obviously I can't comment expertly on his Wolves performances. But you don't succeed at anything in the Championship without slogging your guts out. Let alone score 10 in half a season?

The timing is odd as well, Wolves wait just long enough for their fans' anger to calm down, only to publicly stir it up again?

For what it's worth, all the Wolves fans support Afobe on this. Jez Moxey us using him as a scapegoat to cover up the clubs lies.

Moxey and Morgan came out last summer and said Afobe wouldn't be sold at all this season. 6 months later in the January, the season has been a write off and the owner has put the club up for sale. They have sold Afobe for a large profit, and both Morgan and Moxey have pocketed a large bonus each out of it. To 'appease' the fans they have made a cock and bull story up and have tried to blame on Afobe saying he refused to play for the club, which couldn't be further than the truth. Another one of many reasons why Morgan and Moxey are toxic to this club.

I hope Benik Afobe realises the fans are behind him on this, we see the board for all of their lies. He has an incredible 12 months for us, and don't begrudge him wanting to play PL football at all. Maybe if the club shared the same ambition that Benik does, he would still be with us.

Maybe if we stopped playing 9 defenders and lumping up to Afobe as a lone striker expecting him to do all the work he would feel a little more appreciated by the club.

Afobe wasn't the same player this season mainly because the lack of ambition and he could see the club was going backwards and would do fuck all this season. His head was turned in the summer though with Norwich after him and the loss of Sako and Dicko fucked everything up really. Why they even made this public though is daft and just infuriates the fans even more.

I agree, gone from having a very exciting trio of Afobe, Dicko and Sako 6 months ago to none of them here anymore (well Dicko is but injured for the season). Other key players like Richard Stearman have left without being replaced. It says it all that Jackett is playing players like Sigurdarson, Tommy Rowe and George Saville when this time last season they were all deemed not good enough by the club.

Steve Morgan needs to sell and he needs to do it quickly, the longer we wait it out will only mean more hostility toward him and the club by the fans.

Moxey has been toxic the day he joined this club, he is a good business man, but clueless as a footballing man. His only interest is to sell every asset the club owns for a nice tidy profit with a little bonus for himself. Stoke haven't looked back since they got rid of him.

Kenny Jackett is a yes man to both of these people, and a man I don't think we can ever really progress under his leadership. Jackett has had a great 2 years at Wolves and he will be remembered fondly for them. Sadly I think he has reached his limit with us, I think if we ever have true aspirations to challenge in this divisions then we need a manager who can match the ambition, which will mean replacing KJ.

This season is a write off, but there needs to be much change over the summer if we are to see any sort if progression.

Nothing is forever in football. You can go from rock bottom to a high very quickly. Something will give, it always does. Keep the faith!

It's frustrating when shitty clubs like Stoke and West Brom overtake you and have been far better for 7 or 8 years and Wolves just fuck about forever more!

Barely featured for us last season in League One, my god you must be fucked. Relegation and shit times coming for you soon, unless your owner sells.

We wont go down this season, but it would be nice to support a club that shows a little ambition rather than selling all of it's assets, and replacing them with shit reserves who were told 12 months previous that they weren't good enough.

Nathan bryne will probably be the next to go out on loan to a league one side, kenny won't give him a run in the side. We seem to sign midfielders/Wingers for the sake of it.

Yeah, I didn't specifically mean this season (because you won't go down this season) I mean in the next couple of seasons when your starting XI gets worse, and worse, and worse.

I Don't think we would go down again, Im sure we've learnt our lesson from a few years back. If we had a better manager, he would get more out of this group of players I feel.

Trying to get Nigel Reo-Coker who's not got a club at the moment - had offers from China though.

Haven't watched him for years.

Don't even think Pep Guardiola would get much out of Bjorn Sigurdarson. Hasn't scored for us since November 2013 and he's our main striker starting every week

I thought he was out for the season after he picked up an injury at West Ham?
