Was there not a game called off last weekend despite having a 3G pitch?

Yeah the pitch was flooded. If any pitch is below the water table, no matter the surface, the game is going to be off.

I'm a fan of 3G, though I haven't seen much football on the surface it's huge for clubs moving forwards financially. To say it solves every problem is being intentionally blind, but it does help a lot. It's wrong to say it's a binary choice between 3G surfaces and playing on pitches like that Havant one.

In fairness a few other fans of other clubs have done the same too.

Lincoln City's Twitter feed telling the National League's to be more professional. Talk about teapot kettle.

Be an idea if they spelt Farman's name correctly.

BT Sport put it on their Twitter as well I think and reckon it was the 90th minute.

From the Ilkeston FC Website -

Cup tie vs Daventry Town OFF
Monday 15 February

Due to a combination of illness and injury to players, Daventry Town have advised the League that they will not be able to field a team to play Ilkeston FC in tonight’s Integro Doodson League Cup tie.

No further statement will be made with regards to any possible new date until all the facts and supporting documentation has been received.

That's me successfully winding up the Lincoln City twitter idiot. Jokes aside, someone at the club really should do something about it. The petulant and unprofessional tweets having been going on for months and reflect really poorly on Lincoln.

Have been for quite a while. There were a spate of blockings a few weeks back going off what was being said on LCB.

I emailed JV again this morning complaining.

Wouldn't be surprised if they block me today. Who's actually in charge of it? I was always under the impression it was JV.

They've now deleted some of the tweets aimed directly at people. But have left the ones aimed at The National League and BT Sport

I wonder if they'll be blocking all the major newspapers and websites that have been poking fun at them :fl:

Nah, there's JV, Alan Long and I think I read Roger Bates for the youth stuff and that Kevin Cooke had access, too (not 100% sure). 4 or 5 of them who use it to promote different things.

JV's the main one, but is seemingly being let down by other(s) who can't bite their tongue to get upset very quickly! I had a 'fall out' with Alan Long on Twitter not so long back about the whole thing (suspect it was his Twitter activity on there I was referring to - RT'ing Elton John ffs ).

I pointed them out when I emailed JV who was off yesterday and today and was unaware of them. He deleted the ones to individuals.

Interesting article on TalkSport now, linking 3G pitches (made from tens of thousands of car tyres) to cancer. Keepers inhale a teaspoon of powdered tyre every game?

I take any report of "linked with cancer" in the general media with a huge pinch of salt and try and find the original scientific papers (if any) that are refereed to. It's very important to understand the general media loves to write about cancer because it scares people and sells papers (people believe they need to be informed about these things).

I can't seem to find the article on the talksport site, can you link it?

I did initially write out a lot more, but I'd like to read the article before trying to debunk it... (n.b. I'm not saying it categorically isn't dangerous from a cancer causing standpoint, but I seriously doubt that there is any significant evidence that it is either).

Not sure if that is the game, judging by the way the ladies are dressed it is unlikely, but there was one in the Netherlands where the players were accompanied onto the pitch by their partners/wives/significant others...except for one lad who was single and walked on with his mum!

Here you go

Hanley, odds on for the league title, are a good club. We, as a club, were well greeted and looked after and off the pitch, they are doing things that will ensure the club go forward.

"Sadly, on the pitch, they want anything other than a game of football to break out. As a team of football players, it's clear to see why.:

It continued: "A non existent midfield two which lost the battle, never made a pass, never got on the ball and never made a tackle.

"Two wide men that have pretty boots but create nothing.

"A striker that can't be described as nothing more than a lump that makes Jon Parkin (former Cardiff and Fleetwood player) look agile and who cried and moaned so much it makes you not want to ever go to another game of football in your life."

On Knight's red card, it read: "Hanley felt the need for a player to roll around crying and get an opponent sent off. Yet they speak of 'respect'. Knight was sent off for 'a stamp'."

Yet the report states that Barnton "can take pride that they go about things in the correct manner."

This was on the Mirror website - I like the part on Parkin

It was Talk Sport, not Panorama. However it's now on the BBC site
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35585392

In terms of the actual health risks it's a complete non-story that has probably only hit the media due to the father's former job. There is zero evidence that the kid's cancer was caused by black crumb. The only fair point is that more research may be needed in to what happens if ingested. A single case like this can not prove anything.

To me it reads like someone trying to find an excuse for his kid developing cancer.

How on earth could any club make Leon Knight their manager?

And what Jemfy said about 3G pitches.
