So I lied about not going to Baseball again. Going to Diamondbacks vs Dodgers a week on Saturday.

How was it?

I tried to like it, but I left after the 7th innings. I was getting more into it at the start but then the game just got boring.

I'm fucking devastated. I can't actually believe it. Seemed like such a nice guy, always smiling and joking with everyone and a fucking brilliant pitcher to boot. RIP.

I can't believe we're still playing meaningful baseball with 4 games to go. I think that'll change tonight but still, it's nice.

Didn't want to do a celebration post right after the dead guy post. But... wooop.

Let's be honest, he's got off considerably lighter than Petttittttte. Horseface's "I only did it once and I definitely didn't inhale!" routine was risible, but Ortiz's "NOPE! JUST RICE AND BEANS HOMEY!" response was positively Trumpian. As always, these things are as much a referendum on how positively disposed folks are to the athlete at the eye of the storm as they are on whether any naughtiness actually took place.

(Tho with Papi obliged to mention there isn't any offically smoking gun with his finger prints on it, obviously. I mean, personally I don't have too much doubt that a bloke putting up those numbers during that era hand his hands in the cookie jar, but still...)

How power surge once joining the Red Sox is interesting no?

Well that's what I mean. The circumstantial evidence is what it is. Being a league leading power hitter in the mid 00s puts a guy in some unsavoury company, unfortunately. I am not naively sentimental wrt to laundry, and so my thoughts are as above.

But the substance of that NYT report was considerably flimsier than an actual positive test, or sworn testimony from an associate, or whatever. So there is a distinction to be made.

Indians are the AL team in the WS, anyone here predict that? I don't think I even predicted them to win the central!

Theo Epstein best GM ever? Broke one curse in Boston, broke a big part of one in Chicago.

Cubs vs Indians.

Well, that's a World Series that raises my interest again. Wasn't so excited since "my" Tigers were in it. 108 years of waiting vs 68 years of waiting. One of these sad "stories" will end soon.
(Normally I prefer the AL Team to win this but this time, it's the Indians, so I am rooting for the Cubbies)

This will be long nights again!

:ffs:
If he wants to look "authentic" as bloody Chief Wahoo he should have shaved his "goatee" (or whatever this is).

Good to see that the Cubs bounced back with a convincing 5-1 after the 0-6 from the first match. So, now win all 3 at Wrigley Field and let them "Wahoos" bury the hatched ;)

A shame channel 5 no longer show baseball. I used to book a week off work to watch this, one night/morning going to bed after I'd normally be getting up because the game went on so long.

MLB.tv show a free game every night online I think. They also show games on bet365 I think.

I've been watching some of the MLB free games at weekends when they start at a reasonable time in the UK. The other weekend was good when every game was free.

Not sure I'm equipped to live in a reality in which Cleveland are reigning champs in 2 sports. At least Browns are still the Browns.
